Chapter 1: Sorry!

Chapter Text

"Guys, guys, listen to me," Odysseus gestured grandiosely.

"Here he goes," Achilles rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest as the group looked towards the short man.

"Oh my Gods," Paris added, just as excited as Achilles.

"Stop complaining, I'm being serious here," Odysseus said, though the smile that danced across his face said otherwise, "I met the guy who invented this game."

"Fuck off, man," Menelaus sighed, looking at the board game in front of them.

"No- No! I really did," Odysseus looked over the game thoughtfully, "When we were kids there was a trip we took with our school -- you know this game was made recently, yeah -- and we went to one of their factories."

Faces turned to Menelaus as if he could confirm the story was true, he couldn't. It was entirely possible that Odysseus would find interest in meeting the creator of a board game whereas he did not, letting the memory fade while Odysseus cherished it. He shrugged in response to the looks.

"It was super fun, we got to see the behind the scenes of what went into each individual game," He sighed as if the memory was fond to him, "And after we toured the factory they brought us to this big," he hummed as he searched for the right word, "like conference room, and when we were all seated the guy who actually made the game came and talked to us. He told us all about the game and what inspired him-"

The group was listening intently, as if there was a purpose to the story, Achilles and Paris hung onto every word and Helen, who hadn't looked up from her article about the rules before was finally looking at him.

"-He said it was his daughter. I guess she didn't like how the games never felt like they were very personal to her, or something, so he made this with her in mind. She brought it to a sleepover and played with her friends and their parents asked where she got it, apparently the girl explained her dad made it for her, and then their parents were calling her's-" Odysseus was finally coming down, silly smile adorning his face, "-they asked if he'd make them a game too and so he created this and sold it to them. It was obviously a hit, I think it's one of the most sold games in the world nowadays."

"That's all true?"

"Yep," Odysseus smiled at the suspicious faces surrounding him, "Would I lie to you?"

"Yeah,"

"Yes."

"Always.." Three voices spoke at once.

"You lie like you breathe," Menelaus added.

Odysseus erupted in laughter, waving them off and finally settling next to Penelope as the other four started their game.

"I didn't know Sorry was invented in the 21st century," Her smile evident as she whispered into his ear, "I could've sworn it was invented in 1934, even says so on the back of the box."

Odysseus sighed, relaxing into her side, "Oh is that right? I must've got it mixed up with another game."

She giggled, pressing a kiss into his temple, "Of course."

"Do you think they believed it?"

Penelope looked at their four friends in front of them, "Yeah."
