Work Header

he was a fairy

Summary:

Behind the bar is the most beautiful man Alex has ever seen. His blonde hair looks soft and fluffy, hanging over his forehead delicately. He has glitter dusted across his cheeks and nose, a baby blue shadow on his eyelids. He has wings attached to his back. The man is looking at the customer in front of him, pouring beer into his mouth. Alex is sure he’s going to fail.

Notes:

this genuinely was just because I wanted Henry to be written as one of the bar fairies that dirty talk to people while pouring beer into their mouths and this happened
purely self indulgent, not meant to be taken seriously, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless
I tagged semi open ending bc it's not explicitly stated that they end up together, but they do, I promise
always a happy ending with me, remember? ALWAYS

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Odds of Alex having another bi panic moment today?”

Nora hums quietly as she looks around the faire- beautiful women in fairy dresses, hot men wearing tights and glitter on their faces. “High for sure,” she nods, “at least eighty-five percent.”

“How many times do I have to say I’m straight before the two of you believe me?” Alex barely stops himself from rubbing his face, being careful of the makeup June had painstakingly applied. “It’s not gonna happen.”

June grins as her eyes lock on something over Alex’s shoulders. “I will give you fifty bucks if you can make it through a session with the bar fairy without getting turned on. The blonde one is hot.”

“The bar what?” Alex turns around and his heart skips a beat. “Easy money,” he says instead, shrugging a little. “But you’re also buying the beer.”

June places a twenty in Alex’s outstretched hand. “Tip him well.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Alex goes to wait in line for the blonde bar fairy. He can feel June and Nora watching him from a respectable distance, but still close enough to hear everything. Sometimes Alex hates them.

“Welcome, darling,” the man smiles when Alex steps up. His smile is blinding and his accent makes Alex weak in the knees. “What can I get for you today?”

Alex blinks a few times before he stammers out an answer. “U-um, whatever you suggest. Never really been here before.”

“Ah, so we have a virgin on our hands, do we?” his grin is wicked, grabbing a tall can of beer from the cooler behind him. “What’s your name?”

“Alex,” he breathes, blushing a little. He’s sure his nerves are written all over his face.

“Nice to meet you, Alex. My name is Henry.” He pops the can open easily, reaching up to bring the chains closer to Alex. “Okay, darling, we’ll keep it gentle for your first time. Grab ahold of these and keep your arms up- just like that, good boy.” Alex tries to hold back a whimper, but judging by Henry’s smirk, he doesn’t do a good job. “Now, are you alright with being touched?”

“Uh huh,” Alex forces out. His arms are stretched out above his head, and he has to keep his chin tilted up to look at Henry. He’s not going to survive this.

“Okay, Alex, be good and listen to me, yeah?” Henry keeps his voice low and breathy, staring directly at Alex. He reaches up with his free hand and tangles it in the curls on the back of Alex’s head. “Keep your eyes on me, sweetheart, just put your lips right on the tip- just like that.” He presses the can up against Alex’s bottom lip and tilts it slightly. “Wrap your lips around it, baby, I know you can. Now suck on it, let it all fill your mouth.” He pauses to let out a soft moan. Alex has to remind himself that this is just an act. His hands are getting sweaty from where he’s gripping the bars. “You’re doing so good for me, darling, taking me so well for your first time. Look at you, such a good boy. Now swallow, darling, and we’re all done,” he smirks, slowly pulling the can away from Alex’s mouth.

“Whoa,” Alex breathes, his eyes wide as Henry pulls his hand out of his hair. For the first time all day, he’s extremely thankful for the long tunic June forced him into this morning. “That- thank you.” He pulls the twenty out of his pocket and holds it out with a shaky hand. “Keep the change.”

Henry smiles as he hands over the rest of Alex’s beer. “And this would be yours, darling. Thank you for coming,” he winks.

June and Nora are both wearing shit-eating grins when Alex walks back over to them. “Don’t say a fucking word,” he mutters, chugging the rest of his beer. He stares at the can for a few seconds. “Shit. Am I gonna get a boner every time I drink this beer now?”

Nora’s cackle is loud enough to catch Henry’s attention, and he grins at them from his place behind the bar.

-

Alex isn’t proud to admit how quickly he gets himself off in the shower that evening. He imagines himself on his knees for Henry, listening to what he’s saying and doing exactly as he’s told. He buys an all-season pass to the Ren Faire before he falls asleep that night.

When he shows back up the next day, he’s by himself. June had teased him relentlessly when he left their apartment, but all he could focus on was Henry. He tries to keep his breathing even as he makes his way to the same bar Henry was at the day before.

“Ah, back so soon, are we?”

Alex quickly looks up to see Henry smiling at him from behind the bar. “Uh, yeah, I have a season pass, so I figured I’d make the best of it,” he shrugs.

“Hmm.” Henry smiles like he doesn’t quite believe him, but grabs a beer for him anyway. “Would you like to try a new position today?”

“Sure. Whatever you want,” Alex nods. He winces when he realizes how eager he sounds.

Henry holds out a plastic set of shackles, slipping them over Alex’s wrists. “Behind your head, just like that. Good boy.” He pops the can open and holds it up to Alex, who places his lips on it immediately. “Oh, look at you, so eager to get your mouth on my hole, hmm? So ready to taste what I give you,” he breathes, keeping eye contact once again. “You just want to show everybody what your pretty mouth can do, don’t you? Such a good boy for me, Alex, keep going. I know you can take more. Take it. Oh, you dirty boy,” he smirks, watching some of the beer dribble down Alex’s chin. “Gonna swallow for me, darling? That’s it, swallow everything I give you.” He slowly pulls the can back as Alex swallows, helping him get the shackles off. “So good for me, Alex. Thank you.”

Alex’s chest is moving faster than he’d like as he tries to catch his breath. “N-no, thank you,” he breathes. His pants feel too tight.

“I hope to see you again,” Henry smirks.

Alex doesn’t even finish the beer. He tosses it as soon as he’s around the corner, afraid of how his body will react if he puts his mouth back on that can. He’s hot and bothered, suddenly regretting wearing jeans, and he decides to go home. He can come back tomorrow.

Nora greets him from the couch when he gets home. “June said you went to see your bar fairy today.”

“Maybe I did,” Alex mumbles, kicking his shoes off by the front door. “Why does it matter?”

“Because you just met this guy and you’re already halfway in love with him,” she shrugs. “You should find out if he’s gay or into guys at all.”

Alex rolls his eyes. “Nora, it’s not that deep. It’s fine.”

“Okay.” Nora holds her hands up. “Sorry. I won’t push about it anymore.”

“Good. I’m gonna go for a run.” Alex knows he’s deflecting. He feels defensive over this. He shouldn’t, not really, knowing that nobody in his life would care. He thinks back to high school. To Liam, and the way they used to spend nights under the blanket, hands and mouths on each other in a way that is definitively not straight. They never talked about it, but Liam was a little distant with him once he started dating Olivia a few weeks later.

Thinking back, Alex realizes he should’ve realized all of this years ago. That doesn’t help him now.

He finds himself at the faire every day that week. He visits Henry’s line every day, sometimes twice a day. He knows that he’s overdoing it- he always does. He goes all in, every time, no matter what the situation is.

It doesn’t help him that Henry always seems so happy to see him. His grin lights up his face as Alex walks up for his turn. He takes whatever Henry gives him- sometimes he holds his hands above his head, some days Henry uses the plastic shackles, or like today, he holds his hands behind his back.

“Oh look at you, being so good for me,” Henry smirks, running his free hand through Alex’s curls as he tilts the beer into his mouth. “You’re always so eager to get your pretty mouth on my hole, aren’t you? Ready to swallow down everything I give you.”

The whimper Alex lets out is not subtle. Henry’s moans, however, are soft- making sure nobody can hear the noises that are just for Alex. He tries not to think about it too much.

“That’s it, sweetheart, take it all.” Henry smirks when some of the beer dribbles down Alex’s chin. “You’re a bit messy today, aren’t you? That’s okay, love, we all get a bit messy with it sometimes.” He pulls the can away from Alex’s mouth. “Thank you for being a good boy for me, Alex. I appreciate it.”

“Thank you,” Alex breathes, taking a few extra seconds to pull his arms back to his sides.

By the end of that week, Alex is frustrated with himself. When he parks at the faire that Friday, he walks over to the small picnic area to try and rationalize his actions.

“You know, most people who have season passes to the faire spend time inside the gate to get their money’s worth.”

Alex jumps from where he’s leaning against a tree, turning around to face Henry. “Oh, um-”

“I’m just teasing,” Henry smiles softly. He’s taller than Alex thought, a couple inches taller than himself. “Is everything alright? You looked like you were conflicted.”

Alex blinks slowly. He debates if he should tell Henry the truth. “I don’t think you wanna listen to my problems,” he mumbles. “I’m fine, Henry, thank you.”

“You sure? I’ve been told I’m a great listener.”

“I’ve been having a… revelation, I guess you could say,” Alex says after a couple minutes. “Been kind of a crazy week for me. And on top of all of that, I think my sister and her girlfriend were right after all, so they’re going to be extremely smug about it.”

“Could you keep them out of the loop?” Henry suggests, sitting down on the bench across from Alex. “Would you be comfortable telling me the revelation?”

“It’s kind of embarrassing. Mortifying, actually, to admit out loud in front of you.”

Henry raises his eyebrow a bit. “You don’t have to tell me, Alex, it’s your choice.”

“I think I’m into guys,” Alex admits quietly. Then the floodgates open. “They’ve been telling me that for months, but I never listened. The whole reason I came up to your line was because June offered me fifty bucks if I could get through that without getting turned on, and it was honestly such an insane fucking experience that opened my eyes to things I never knew I’d like. So I bought a season pass to an event I genuinely could not care less about, and have been back every single day to spend money on beer just so I can see you.” He takes a deep breath, finally looking up to make eye contact with Henry.

“Oh.” Henry blinks slowly. “So… Would now be a good time to tell you that when my shift ended that first day, I got wasted on vodka and went on a half hour tangent over your eyes to my mate Pez?”

And- oh. Oh. “Oh.”

“Yeah. Oh,” Henry giggles softly. He takes a step toward Alex, carefully reaching out to grab his hand. “My shift is officially over for the day. Would you like to get some takeout and come back to my place?”

“Yeah, yes,” Alex nods quickly. “I would love that, Henry.”

Alex drives them since Henry had caught a ride from Pez that morning. They swing by to get chinese food before going to Henry’s apartment. The closer they get, the more nervous Alex gets. What is Henry expecting? Is he going to care that Alex has no idea what he’s doing? Is he going to laugh at Alex?

“Alex, love, I can hear you thinking from here,” Henry murmurs once they park. “What’s on your mind?”

“Can we go inside first?” Alex asks softly. He follows Henry inside and gets himself settled on the couch while Henry changes. He waits for Henry to come back before continuing on. “I don’t know what you’re expecting tonight, but… I have no idea what I’m doing,” he says honestly. “I’m familiar with kissing, of course, but I’ve only been with girls.”

“We don’t need to do anything,” Henry promises, “but I’d love to kiss you. I’d be honored to teach you anything you’d like to know. I’ve been told I’m a good teacher, and from our meetings this week, you seem like a fast learner,” he winks. “Have you ever been the submissive one in your relationships?”

Alex shakes his head a bit. “Never. I’ve only been on bottom once,” he laughs softly. “But you behind the bar, telling me what to do… It really caught me off guard how much I enjoyed it. I’ve been wracking my brain all week trying to figure out what’s going on.”

“You’re allowed to take your time to figure it out,” Henry promises. “We can just experiment- or I can help you find someone else, if you don’t want to try with me, but we can go at your pace. You make the decisions.”

“I’d really like to kiss you, Henry.” Alex puts his food on the coffee table. “I’m a pretty good kisser, but if it goes any further… I can’t make any promises about how good it’ll be.”

“Alex, darling, don’t overthink this.”

Alex snorts quietly. “Henry, I overthink everything. That’s all I ever do. What do you think was happening when you found me outside the park?”

Henry sets his own food down and crawls across the couch to straddle Alex’s lap. “Alex. Look at me-” he pauses until Alex looks up, “-you do not have to be perfect at this. I would be honored to teach you whatever you’d like to learn, but I wouldn’t be opposed to kissing you now.”

“Please,” Alex nods eagerly, his hands resting on Henry’s hips.

Kissing Henry is better than Alex could’ve ever imagined. He kisses with absolute confidence, his hands tangled in Alex’s curls, teeth nipping at Alex’s bottom lip. He still has glitter on his face from his shift. Alex is sure he’s going to have to scrub his face by the end of the night, but he doesn't care. All he focuses on is Henry’s mouth on his, and Henry’s cock pressing against his own through the fancy tights.

“I mean it when I say it doesn't have to go further than this,” Henry breathes, trailing his lips down Alex’s jaw carefully. “We can just kiss until you’re ready to stop.”

“I don’t want to stop,” Alex promises. “I just- I don’t really know what I’m doing. I want to make you feel good.”

“I’ll walk you through anything you want, darling, you just say the word, but I would quite like to get my mouth on you at some point.”

And, well, who is Alex to argue with that?

He leaves Henry’s place that night with a new number in his phone, and a promised date for the following weekend.

-

The next morning when Alex makes his way into the kitchen, shirtless, Nora almost spits her coffee out. “Is that glitter on your fucking hip? What the hell happened last night?”

Alex smirks slightly. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”
