Venus could hardly believe it. It was finally his turn, he got Earth’s orbit and the mother of all spots in the goldilocks zone. Venusian’s weren’t just a pipe dream anymore. In just a couple billion years he could see it: Sparkling seas, lush green landscapes, a cooler atmosphere and life, all within reach.
He almost-almost considered not bullying Mercury to thank him for the opportunity, he was the catalyst for this whole event after all. Thinking he could hang out with them playing cards, thinking the Sun wouldn't notice him of all planets missing. That is… his gaze narrowed in the distance. Mercury and Mars had fled the Sun earlier who was currently cosplaying one of those earthly disco balls. Solar flares everywhere. He didn't blame them for running but he did wonder what set him off... Probably Mars now that he thinks about it. The idiot. Mercury would know better.
Though it meant now the star was too distracted to see his whole system was now in disarray.
Venus looked past the belt spotting them. There they were, a gathering crusade collecting members heading off towards the kuiper belt to gather Jupiter. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what they were doing. They didn’t even bother to ask him how he felt about this. Probably just assumed he would fall in line. Well not if he had anything to say about it!
Venus spun towards the Sun and made his way over. The Sun resembling more a deadly lazer than a star barfing out flares left and right. He hesitated then coughed to get his attention, “Sun?”
The star snapped his mouth close, mid solar flare. Glowing white eyes flew to his, and steam billowed out from his mouth making him look steaming mad. Venus almost cracked a joke about it before seeing the stars’ unsunny disposition and decided against it. He sweatdropped, What did those reckless idiots say to him!?
Seeing it was just him the Sun seemed to visibly cool and he fell under a neutral stare.
“Uh, hi Sun.” He grinned up nervously, “May I request an er–audience? Yeah audience.”
The star took a breath and boomed, “SPEAK APHROD–”
“AHBABABBABA!” Meeting his volume Venus interrupted growing panicked before frantically looking about a little wild-eyed. Seeing no one he looked back pleadingly. “Are you trying to get me blackmailed!? My name’s Venus. Ve-nus.”
Sun rolled his eyes, “THE OTHER IS A FINE NAME, NO NEED TO BE ASHAMED APH–”
“LALALALALALALAAAA!”
The star huffed, “YOU’RE BEING CHILDISH.”
“And you’re being you!” Venus blustered, glaring a bit, “You’re the only one who–” Venus shook himself as if shaking out the thought, “Enough about this! I have news!”
“VERY WELL BUT FIRST I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU!”
Venus peered up curiously, “Yeah? What is it?”
The Sun broke his gaze, an anxious expression flickered past, “DO YOU FIND ME–ahem…at all…” he side-eyed Venus nervously. “...clingy?”
Venus grimaced, sucking in a long breath through his teeth, “Well…”
Sun glared.
“NO! The answer is no! 100% not clingy at all. ” He shook his sphere rapidly.
“GOOD! GOOD!” The Sun nodded, looking pleased, he gave him a once over in approval, “YES I THOUGHT NOT AS WELL.” Sun cleared his throat granting him a small smile, “YOU BRING NEWS?”
Venus smirked, “Guess who’s out of their orbits again?”
“HM…?” The Sun looked past him and spotted the group meeting up with Earth who was shivering looking a little frost covered but relieved to see them, next to an annoyed Luna who sniped about their lateness. Sun grew a strange look in his eye, “So they are…” he mumbled.
Venus grew confused seeing it, he half expected the Sun to go into another rage but instead he looked calm?
Sun appeared to catch himself before glancing back at Venus with a sly grin. “WELL…” Boomed Sun, “LETS SEE WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY FOR THEMSELVES, SHALL WE VENUS?”
Venus grinned back before turning to the nearing crowd a little giddily, happy with the Sun’s apparent support.
When they got close enough the Sun boomed, "WELL WELL WELL..."
