Chapter Text
Wylan was sitting in his fathers office listening to yet another business meeting that his father forced him to be a part of, he never liked being in his fathers office. It was always stuffy and made it hard to breath, he could feel all the seams on his clothes as the two men talked.
Wylan didn't realize he zoned out until he heard his father shouting in his face. The other man had already left.
“You stupid boy! Were you listening to a word he said?” His father shouted. Before Wylan got the chance to answer, his father slapped him.
“I gave you one job and you couldn't even do that right, you're lucky I even kept you after realizing your problem. If you can’t do this right then you are useless to me.”
“I am sorry father.” Wylan whispered.
Out of the corner of his eye Wylan saw his father reach up his hand again and out of fear Wylan lifted his fingers to slow his fathers heart rate. His father grabbed at his heart and backed away. Wylan quickly stopped out of fear of his own power.
“I’m so sorry father, I'm so sorry.” He began apologising. His eyes wide with fear.
“Never do that again.” His father hissed, and then continued to hit Wylan.
-------
Wylan shot up in bed, breathing deeply, and shaking. Quickly following was Jesper waking up from the sudden movement in bed.
“Wylan? What's going on?” Jesper said, his voice deep with sleep as he maneuvered to hug Wylan.
“I just had a nightmare, that's all. I’m sorry for waking you.” He said softly, laying his head on Jesper’s chest as they laid back down. “Do you want to talk about it?” Wylan shook his head and they laid in silence until they both fell back asleep.
---
The next morning they woke up in the same position. “Good morning darling.” Jesper said softly, smiling down at Wylan. “Good morning Jes.” The blush growing on his face. He felt so lucky to get to wake up to this face every morning.
“We should get up and go get the rest of your stuff from your lab, so then you can be officially moved in.” Jesper's smile grew wider as he continued. They got up and started getting ready for the day.
They walked to the lab hand in hand, Wylan telling Jesper the details of what he was building for Kaz.
---
They walked in and started getting to work on grabbing Wylan’s things. Jesper saw a letter on the ground and began to pick it up. He instantly felt strange about it but brushed it off, until he read the beginning sentence.
“Son if you're reading this then you know how much I wish to have you home…” Jesper paused, he looked up at Wylan who was still looking around for his things. He looked back at the letter. It was signed by Jan van eck. He immediately walked up to Wylan.
“Youre a merchant's son?” He asked with a hint of anger in his voice that Wylan seemed to notice because he tensed up and slowly turned around to look at Jesper.
“What is that?” Wylan asked on edge, like he already knew the answer. “Answer the question Wylan.” Wylan stilled and Jesper took note of the fact that Wylan couldn't meet his eyes.
“Yes.” He said so quietly that Jesper almost didn't hear it. “So when were you going to tell me that you’ve been lying to me!” Wylan flinched back and finally looked up at Jesper with wide fearful eyes. Jesper felt a pang of sadness, he had seen those eyes before but never at him, he never wanted it again but instead of dropping the issue to comfort his boyfriend he stayed silent and waited for an answer.
“I never lied to you Jes, I just never shared this.” Wylan began backing up like he was trying to protect himself. “You never thought that maybe this was an important thing I should know before I opened up my home to you?! You played this little orphan act while you had a whole mansion?” Jesper yelled. “I mean Ghezen Wylan we bonded over being afraid of our power and the things people would do, you had a safe place to go this whole time?!”
Wylan was silent for a while. “What does it say?”
Jesper scoffed. “Your father wants you home. You can end this little act of yours.” Wylan’s eyes widened. Jesper noticed his breathing quicken. “I-i cant go back.” and with that he ran out leaving Jesper confused.
