Work Text:
Veyle tolerated Marni.
She was the kind of follower that would do anything against the world that discarded her, for the sake of praise.
Perhaps that likeness was why she allowed her to follow so eagerly.
But here she was, turned against by humans again.
(And yet she couldn’t hate her for it.)
Veyle could, should easily fire another bolt to interrupt the dramatics playing out.
But she refuses to flinch while the axe falls unto her, giving Marni a chance to fail.
The thudding resonance jerks at her consciousness;
it soon passes.
…After all that, she was almost disappointed.
