Chapter Text
"this sucks.." he groaned
Rody finally made it to his apartment after the supposed "romantic dinner date". He fumbled with his keys before catching a glimpse of himself in the reflection of the door handle. Disheveled hair, tired eyes with eyebags under them and clothes that are soaking wet from biking through the rain. Even though it wasn't fully clear he could tell he looked like dumpster fire.
He stumbled into his apartment. Kicking off his shoes and sighed from exhaustion. His place was a mess. Takeout containers scattered on the kitchen counter and job flyers littered all over the coffee table from job hunting which failed miserably.
He flopped onto the couch exhaling out all the stress and sadness he felt through out the whole week
"Why now Manon..?"
His heart ached just by saying her name as he recalled the memory of her words to him
"Take better care of yourself Rody, I'm sorry.."
Before he could even realise he was already shedding tears. He quickly tried wipping them away with his sleeve but no matter how much he wiped and how positive the affirmations he said to himself it all crashed on to him.
After what felt like hours he manage to cry out all the remaining moisture in his body. He grabbed the tv remote on the floor and flicked through different channels hoping it'll somehow make him forget about the heartbreak.
After countless flicking Rody stopped on a cheesy romance show because of a scene that was kinda similar to how him and Manon broke up
Woman: I love you André! But how can I love a man who can't love himself!
Man: But Maria my love, I have you to love me!
Woman: we are over André!
Rody rolled his eyes and sighed before shutting the tv off and rolling onto his back. Staring up to the ceiling
"Ugh.. I can take care of myself. I'm just.. in a tough situation that's all..."
The man ruminated silently. The soft pattering of rain outside filled the apartment.
He looked down at the coffee table seeing the crossed out job flyers. But then his eyes stilled on one particullar help wanted poster that wasn't crumpled away yet
"La Gueule de Saturne?"
He begrudgingly leaned down to get it and held it up to his face
"Looking for a waiter.. I doubt I can even step one foot into the bistro"
Rody debated whether to ask for the job or not considering that the bistro was a hot topic around france. The thought of having a decent paycheck for a change was 10 times better from the wages he gets from the run down fastfood restaurants he worked for. But the thought of Manon crossed his mind
"Maybe.. if i show her how stable I got myself to be I could.. win her back"
Just then his dumb sweet smile came back at the idea.
Eventhough the chances were slim that he would even get an interview he had already set his mind on it
"Okay, It's worth a shot"
