"I love you."
Kasane blinks owlishly. Her heart never fails to skip a beat whenever he says the words to her. But it is so out of the blue that she stops her wood-carving session to avoid accidentally cutting herself (or her butler in range if the knives suddenly go out of control from the random statement).
"What's with the sudden confession, Yuito?" She looks up at him inquiringly.
The man in question, is standing at the end of the sofa she is sitting on, in the huge mansion they shared - mostly from his family's wealth and his position as a chief officer. His expression is hard to read. There is no emotion, save for the longing eyes he is currently shooting at her. Though, even after years of being together, Kasane is unable to pinpoint what that look exactly meant.
Wordlessly, Yuito walks right up to her, plops down by her side with both legs crossed on the sofa, and immediately pulls her into a beary, tight hug. Taken aback, Kasane moves her hands elegantly to set down her wooden carving and knives on the table with her psychokinesis. Then, she places her hands on his back, returning the gentle gesture. In her peripheral vision, she notices the butler excusing himself upon the scene.
"Hey, are you okay?" She questions softly.
Yuito shakes his head with a childish grumbling noise, his messy black hair causing a light tickle in the female's shoulders. "... No. Well- I-I don't know."
"Mm. Was it those nightmares, then?"
He freezes, and it is crystal clear that that is the answer. She waits for his elaboration patiently, carressing his back soothingly.
"Tell me more."
"... I dreamt that I lost you."
Kasane's eyes widen slightly. "What happened?"
Yuito sits back, and shrinks toward himself, looking smaller than usual despite the obviously muscular physique he dons. A scowl appears on his lips, finally expressing what he feels. Kasane frowns, concerned. Yuito's nightmares are not frequent, but it is disturbing enough to bother him.
"We were using the Red Strings to fix a mistake. It was an unfixable mistake. My powers were disappearing right before me, and I couldn't be that beacon anymore. As a result... you couldn't return to our time," he recounts worriedly.
Kasane cups the sides of his head. She raises his gaze, for the two to meet eye-to-eye. For the first time, Yuito looks extremely vulnerable and weak. A little boy is in front of her, not the mischievous, cheeky, yet brave 28-year old.
"There won't be a time where we need to use the Red Strings. The world has no need for it anymore. Like I told you years ago," Kasane's hands fall to his cheeks. "...It ends with us."
"You won't use it, right? At least without telling me?"
His jewel red eyes seek desperately into hers for reassurance.
The silver-haired woman assures him with a nod. "Yes."
"You're sure? No matter how much you regret something?"
Kasane gives a small, earnest smile, something she cannot believe she has gotten used to doing since they got together two years ago.
"Yes, Yuito. I will rather much face the regrets with you. You taught me that."
Yuito breathes shakily, placing his hands over Kasane's to ground himself. Meekly, he wraps his fingers around hers and closes his eyes. After a few moments of comfortable silence, his breathing steadies, and the frown gradually disappears from his face, replaced by a calm expression.
"Are you feeling better now?"
The male opens his eyes, meeting Kasane's warm gaze again. Yuito stares deeply into her red eyes for a long while. This earns a nervous fidget from the other, after seeing no reaction from him.
"... If you're feeling better, at least say something. It's kind of awkward."
Yuito then laughs wholeheartedly, cheeks flushing red and eyes crinkling in happiness. Kasane feels her heart swell with pride and affection, hearing his laughter that reverberates with her soul. He dives into her arms, causing her to fall on her back on the sofa. It catches her off guard but nonetheless, she is relieved he is back to normal.
A thought enters her mind. Kasane feels extremely, absolutely jitty about this, but she decides to just heck with it. She shuts her eyes, and leans up to boldly place her lips onto his.
She can tell that Yuito is, to say the least, shocked, judging by how he freezes up at the action. Kasane cannot see his face though - she wishes she had a third eye - but she stays for a while longer before she decides it is enough.
Kasane lays back on the sofa and cracks open her eyes nervously. Yuito's eyes are blown wide, mouth falling agape, gawking.
"What is that reaction, you idiot?"
Yuito blinks, as if he momentarily left reality. A small blush appears again on his cheeks, giddy. "Wait, no, I was just... I'm surprised. You... initiated a kiss. You never once did that."
Kasane knows it, but because he pointed that out loud, she feels her body heat up in sheer embarrassment. She curses inwardly, and instantly tries to scramble her way out. She grabs at his arms, demanding him to get off her. Yuito knows her grip will leave marks behind, a strong showcase of her raw strength.
"I-I know that! I was- Ugh, not that it matters. Get off me, I-"
"It does matter," Yuito grins wickedly, eyes in a crescent shape. "Tell me why you did that, and maybe I'll consider releasing you."
Kasane's face reddens further, turning her into a fresh tomato. He knows she does not admit to things very easily, but now he has her cornered, it is
kind of impossible to get out of this situation. Even if she does succeed, Yuito will easily drag her back and not really let her go.
She sighs in ultimate defeat.
"Can I at least... cover my face?"
"No," he replies almost instantly.
Hearing a firm, definite response causes her to look at him. Suddenly, she feels something else heat up, seeing how serious and determined Yuito looks. He was not laughing anymore.
"I want to hear you say it, Kasane. Please."
The woman sucks in a sharp breath, eyes locked onto his almost like in a trance. Her heart beats like a drum in her ears, and a bead of sweat appears on her temple.
He seeks for her, he pleads, and he cries to her.
Maybe, being that vulnerable does not have to be difficult anymore. "Just... It's because I love you enough to do that, Yuito. You really looked like you could use some... cheering up."
A Cheshire grin forms on his lips, and tears nearly forms at the corner of his eyes.
To think it took him so long to realize his feelings for her.
"You're no fair, Kasane. You're not allowed to leave me for the next few days."
"What the heck do you mean?!"
