Work Text:
He wakes up at an hour that he can technically still call morning. It's good enough, he'll take it. Not like he has a job to be at right now, anyway. Nor would he be able to get one in his current state.
It takes what might be an unreasonable amount of time to get out of bed. He drags himself to the bathroom and stares at his broken reflection in the cracked mirror that he still hasn't bothered to replace. His jaw is sore, but he's used to that by now. It's not worth it to brush his darkened and yellowed teeth today, he decides.
He sighs and picks up the tweezers from the counter. Skincare was the one thing he wouldn't miss doing on any given day. The feeling of rotting skin was already awful, and maggots eating away at his flesh made it even worse. They squirm and fight on the way out, but at least it goes quicker than letting the disgusting things have a buffet in his dying body.
The kitchen is nearly barren of food. Going outside, especially to the grocery store, got him a lot of weird looks ranging from fear to disgust. He didn't really want to deal with that. A protein bar would be enough for now.
The trash was overflowing, and the wrapper tumbled to the floor. He groaned. Taking out the trash was another thing that meant going outside, even briefly. He promises himself to do it next week, just like he had done last week. If he thought about it, he might realize that if he keeps putting it off, then it will never get done. But he's too tired to think.
There's plenty more that he should be doing, but he doesn't really have to, so he chooses to call his morning done. He shoves some junk off the sofa and turns the TV on. The episode playing is one he'd seen plenty of times already. He doesn't care. It's better than nothing.
