Chapter Text
"Ok let's go guys, we just got a call about a possibly domestic abuse case. The neighbours said they would hear screaming almost every other week, but there's been a really loud sound today and then total silence, so they thought we should check it out. I didn't get a chance to look at the adress myself but you should have got it by now Sanemi."
Sanemi rolled his eyes at what their Sergeant Rengoku reported. "Well they certainly acted quick didn't they?" Rengoku send him a sharp glare at the sarcasm. Sanemi usually knew better, Kyoujurou had trouble with these type of cases and even though Rengoku was still smiling, he should better shut his mouth right now, if he doesn't want to do all the paperwork at the end of this long day.
"I can't go with you, I still have a witness about a case of mine waiting for me here but i trust you all to investigate this on your own. Shinazugawa take Uzui and Kochou with you, I'll joyn you as soon as I'm finished." Tengen furrowed his eyebrows and couldn't help but ask, "Won't it be enough if only Sanemi and me check this out, maybe it's just a misunderstanding?". Rengoku, already walking back to continue questioning the witness, send them a smile over the shoulder. "Better to be safe incase it's not!"
Sanemi couldn't help but silently agree with a nod of his head, things could get messy fast in their job. Packing his things he told his other two colleagues to drive in a separate car, incase things got out of hand and they didn't really know with how many people they would have to deal today.
Sanemi got into the car and quickly began to drive to the new location. He would be late again today, he just knew it. As a police officer his hours often got overrun which he always felt bad about when he got home and saw that there was a plate left for him in the fridge, but his little brother Genya no where in sight. There were days where they wouldn't see each other at all but they also kind off needed the extra money.
Ever since his family got brutally attacked in his childhood home when he was barely 14, just because of his crappy dad that messed with the wrong people yet again, it's only been Genya and him. He wasn't abel to save everyone, he could only grap Genyas hand in his own and run like the devil was behind them, while Genya was screaming at him to turn around and help his other siblings and his mother. But Sanemi knew there was no chance for him to be of any help, as he saw three big men going into the hall leading to the bedrooms of all his younger siblings.
It was only luck that Sanemi and Genya had to do the dishes that night and weren't allowed to go play in their bedrooms as everyone else, so they were in the kitchen, that also had the backdoor into the woods behind their house, when everything happend. He knew he had to do everything to at least save one of his younger siblings, even if it meant making the hardest decision of his life and having to live with the possibility that Genya would hate him for the choice he made.
Luckily Genya quickly realised that Sanemi didn't have much of a choice in the beginning and choose to simply mourn with his big brother together than finding someone responsible. They were found by a nice police officer that night who really moved planets to help the brothers back to their feet in life. That's where Sanemi choose to become a police officer himself, if that meant he maybe got the chance to be as helpful to another person and to feel as safe to them, like he did back then with officer Masachika Kumeno.
As soon as he was 18, Sanemi adopted Genya offically and they began to rent a small apartment in the city. It was small with only two bedrooms, one office and one bathroom, living room and kitchen but they somehow managed just fine, even if Sanemi had to pick up a few extra shifts here and there. Genya still went to school as he was only 16, so they lived off of Sanemis pay checks which sometimes got a bit rough at the end of the month. Oh how he wished to finally get Genya the new school books hes been dreaming for...
Sanemi physically had to shake his head, he was almost at the given location so he had to get his head in the game. It was a nice, normal looking neighbourhood but he knew from experience that that ment nothing.
With his team right behind him, he parked infront of the house where they were supposed to investigate. The lights were on, so someone was home even though it was so silent that you could hear the Tv three houses over. Sanemi looked over to Shinobu who was already looking suspicious at the house. She was good in reading situations and if she was already on edge Sanemi trusted her that this wouldn't be as easy as they had hoped.
Deeply breathing one more time, Shinazugawa made his way to the front door, Shinobu and Tengen right behind him. He sharply knocked on the door three times and begun to wait, right hand on the top of his pistol.
They couldn't really hear anything befor the door promptly swung open. There stood a tall blonde men infront of them his smile wide, showing picture perfect white teeth, his eyes shimmering colorful in the moon light. "Hey there officers and oh my aren't you all such cuties, so stunning! I'm Douma, what can i do for you?", he asked playfully, leaning on the side of the door.
Sanemi felt his eye twitch, already feeling irritated at the other mens presence. "We've got a noise complain from one of your neighbours, care to tell me what that was about?" Sanemi tried to look inside the house but the blonde dude was leaning so that he blocked his view almost completely.
"Oh I'm so sorry officers, you see, I must have had the Tv on too loud, i like action movies and they tend to randomly raise the volume in fight scences. I'm done watching so it won't happen again i promise.", he replied still smiling at them even laying a hand on his chest as he promised.
Sanemi looked over at Shinobu and Tengen. Kochou looked at him and subtley shook her head, even Tengen had a crease in his eyebrows and he wasn't really the most perspective.
"We know that you live here with your partner are they here? We'd like to speak to them." There was a slight twitch in Doumas smile, but Sanemi noticed it. "Oh you mean my boyfriend Giyuu. Well he is really sick right now and I would hate to wake him up, he only just fell asleep with his high fever and headache you see."
"Oh so do you always turn your Tv on full volume when your boyfriend is so sick that he can't even come down to speak with us? Oh my aren't you just nice!" Shinobu spoke behind him, most likely also matching the fake smile Douma gave them from the start.
Sanemi saw him getting nervous now and subtly leaning back into the house. "May we come in to speak with Gyiuu ourself and see that he is fine?", Sanemi asked, staring into Doumas eyes sternly.
"I haven't cleaned up that much so i would prefer you wouldn't, Giyuu is fine and sleeping. It's really late and I am getting tired myself and my boyfriend sure misses me, so goodnight officers." Douma tried to close the door, but Sanemi was quicker, holding the door forcefully open with one hand, Tengen getting tense behind him. "Sir, we only want to be sure-" "You don't have a warrent or any good reason to come inside, so i won't allow any strangers to enter my home. I'll be leaving now and if you don't do the same, you will be talking to my lawyer." Douma interrupted him gravely.
Shit, they knew something was so wrong here but they really couldn't see anything that indicated a reason for them to storm the house. Sanemi saw Douma smirking at him as he noticed Sanemi realise their situation, that the blond was winning. Just as the door was almost closed, Sanemi heard it.
"HE- HELP, PLEASE!"
Shinazugawa saw the smirk fall off of Doumas face, eyes widening and looking shocked back into the house, rage already shining in his eyes. Bevor he could close the Door, Sanemi reacted. He pushed the door back and Tengen went in first, holding Douma down while Shinobu stayed beside him, pistol raised and checking the hall for any more potential danger. Sanemi knew they could handle the now screaming and fighting Douma, so he begun running in the direction where the voice came from.
"Please, I- I'm here!" Sanemi stopped infront of what looked like the door to the basement but as he tried to push it open, the door wouldn't budge.
Loked.
Well, Sanemi thought, he didn't go to the gym for nothing.
"Hey can you hear me? I'm officer Shinazugawa and I'm going to kick this door in. Can you move and is there enough space, so that you won't be infront of it?" He could only hear a sharp inhale and then some shuffeling along the ground. "Ok" Sanemi frowned. "Ok what?!"
An almost annoyed sigh came from the other side. "You can kick now"
This Giyuu really wasn't great with words, was he? With a strong kick, the door flew open, revealing a dark space with stairs leading into the basement. On these stairs laid a small figure with disheveled black hair that only then lifted his head, the light from behind sanemi lighten up his face.
Blue eyes meeting violet ones.
"Well hello there, mind leaving this shit hole with us?" Giyuu stared at Sanemi blankly. Huh, maybe he was in shock, runned trough Shinazugawas head. Anyways, Sanemi decided to go over to him and help him up, but as he was about to do that his eyes turned to the mans side that he held with his hand. Also looking closer his right foot seemed to face... no yeah he wasn't a doctor but that was not the right direction that it should be facing.
He could still support the man under one of his arms to help him up and walk him out, but that would be a real hassel. Here goes nothing he thought as he kneeled down to Giyuu and put his arms under the fragile looking man to lift him up and leaning his body against his own chest. The other was clearly suprised by his action.
"What are- ahh what are you doing?! Put me down now!" "I don't think so princess, you probably got at least one broken rip with how you are clutching your side and with that foot you're going no where. Don't worry my team got Douma in handcuffs already, he won't hurt you anymore." Sanemi included the last part as he saw the worry and fear in Giyuus eyes. He didn't really relax after and he even begun to clutch Sanemis uniform in his hands at the mention of his boyfriend.
Well ex now, Sanemi hoped.
He was right, as Sanemi made his way out of the house with Giyuu in his arms, he saw Doumas head getting pushed down into the backseat of the police car. Douma didn't even bother looking at Sanemi no, he only had eyes for the man in his arms. The stare so cold and hateful, full of violent promises that even Sanemi was tempted to take a step back.
Giyuu only looked away, tensing up a bit more and pressing his head into Sanemis chest. Now, Shinazugawa couldn't help himself and sent a cocky smirk of his own to the now visibly seething blonde, pressing Giyuu only a tad bit closer against him. Douma looked ready to explode, eyes now on Sanemi.
Before he could spew hateful things at him, and he looked like he really wanted to, the car door was slapped into his face.
Ahh how he loved to win!
Shinobu came up to him and Giyuu, critically eyeing the position they were in and having clearly seen what just happend between Sanemi and Douma. Sanemi looked away with a slight blush on his cheeks at being caught.
Tengen only shouted a "Real flashy of you Sanemi!" at him.
"I called an ambulance already so they should be here any minute. Yoo-hoo, what is your name and how are you feeling?" Only at being spoken to, Giyuu lifted his head from his position, now facing the smiling Shinobu. "Tomioka Giyuu and i think one of my ribs is broken, it's a bit hard to breath right now." Sanemi rolled his eyes. "Your foot also doesn't look to swell buddy or is it normally like that?"
Tomioka didn't react to the teasing at all, continuing to look at the ground.
When the ambulance finally came and Sanemi had only just put the black haired man down on the stretcher, one of their police cars came rushing down the street. Sanemi didn't even get a chance to react when their sergeant came sprinting out the car.
Ok his Sergeant really was the best and always put his all into his cases but what the hell?! This was even for Rengoku a bit much and that says something.
As soon as Sanemi got a better look at Kyoujuros face, he could see the worry in his facial features, his usal smile completely gone.
Rengoku only stopped running when he was right infront of the ambulances open door. "Giyuu, what happend?! Did Douma do this to you? Let me look!" He softly tilted Giyuus head to the side, seeing a already forming bruise underneath his eye.
"I'm gonna kill that bastard, I told you he was no good, he always felt so fake. How long has this been going on?! Giyuu-" "Kyoujuro, stop. I'm ok now, i promise.", interupted Giyuu, sending Rengoku a small smile.
Sanemi could only look perplexed to Shinobu and Tengen. Kyoujuro obviously knew him and they even seemed pretty close with both of them using their given name.
Rengoku seemed to have calmed down a fraction and turned around to face his colleagues. "Thank you guys, you handeld the situation perfectly. I don't know what I would have done if...", he seemed to get lost in the thought so Tengen decided to speak up. "Hey Rengoku, how do you know each other?"
A big smile forming on Kyoujuros face again at the question, Sanemi felt himself relaxing slightly. Rengoku not smiling was just wrong and a little scary.
"Ok team, even though it's not under the best circumstances, oficially meet Giyuu, my best friend!"
