Chapter Text
“C-Clukr...? It’s three in the morning.”
Garnold crawled into the living room with a blanket around his shoulders, having woken up from the racket Clukr was making as he worked on the machine. Garnold facepalmed and rolled his eyes at his husband. Clukr looked up from his work, smiling.
“Hi, honeeeey~ Sorry if I’m being loud.” Clukr said.
“Hi, Daddy, Mommy’s working on the machine!” Fun Bot said from his corner.
“Clukr, I’m just as excited as you, but don’t you think you should sleep?” Garnold asked.
“Sleep was never an option.” Clukr responded calmly.
“Clukr, if this machine works, we need all the sleep we can get. We would also need a donor egg, considering the fact that we’re men, so we’ll have to wait anyways.” Garnold said.
“I’ve already started asking around.” Clukr said casually.
“You still need to sleep, Clukr.” Garnold said.
“I’ll sleep when the machine is done!” Clukr yelled, albeit playfully.
“Nope. You’re coming with me.” Garnold said, picking up his husband.
“Nooo!!! I’m so close!!!” Clukr whined.
“You need sleep, we can keep working in the morning.” Garnold said.
“What’s going on, Daddy?” Fun Bot asked.
“Well, Fun Bot, your mommy is being stubborn. He thinks sleep is optional.” Garnold said.
“I just need to finish this little bit and we’ll be done.” Clukr argued.
“Your health is more important.” Garnold said, walking to the bedroom.
“Help-” Clukr said.
Clukr was shut up by the sound of the door closing. Then, Garnold placed him gently into bed and laid on top of him. Clukr was still upset he’d been captured, but he was now very, very warm. There was also a blanket being tucked around both him and his husband. Admittedly, he was falling asleep faster than expected. As soon as the silver boy was out cold, Garnold followed suit not long after. For once in their lives, they were both sleeping well for hours at a time.
Once the morning came, Clukr immediately went to the machine. Garnold tried and failed to grab Clukr to at least eat breakfast before he buried himself in the machine again. Garnold sighed and did a motion the readers will classify as pinching the bridge of his nose, though he had no nose. Then, he started up the coffee machine and went to check on Mr. Fun Computer and Fun Bot. Both of the robots were chatting like children, which they essentially were.
“Hi, guys, how are you today?” Garnold asked, pushing the exhaustion out of his voice.
“We’re good, Daddy. Did you sleep well?” Mr. Fun Computer asked.
“Yeah, after your mommy stopped being loud.” Garnold said.
“Still don’t know why I’m mommy.” Clukr said from his position next to the machine.
“You need to eat something.” Garnold said.
“Do you hate us, Mommy?” Fun Bot asked.
“No, I’m just a man, so I’m confused as to why you call me ‘mommy’. But you two are my greatest creations.” Clukr said.
“You’re called Mommy because Fun Bot saw people call their parents Mommy and Daddy, and when Mr. Fun Computer started talking, he heard Fun Bot call you Mommy.” Garnold said.
“I know, I was there. I just don't get why you're not Mommy.” Clukr said.
“I don't know either. Anyways, at least have a damn granola bar before you waste away. You're like a speck of dust, baby. You'll float away in the wind before you know it.” Garnold said.
“Oh, shut it.” Clukr said.
“Mommy, Daddy says you need to eat.” Fun Bot said.
“Yeah, Clukr.” Garnold said.
“There's not much left, I’ll eat when I'm-”
The machine then proceeded to blow up in Clukr’s face in the most literal sense possible, though it thankfully didn't explode everywhere.
“Actually, yeah, I'll eat first.” Clukr said before coughing up a tiny bit of smoke.
~~~~~~
“Do you think we’re done?” Clukr asked.
“I thought you’d know, seeing as you were convinced we were almost done.” Garnold said, though he was grinning.
“Ha ha. I thought I knew, then the machinery failed. Anyways, that was two weeks ago.” Clukr said.
“I know, I just like messing with you.” Garnold said.
The couple was checking over the machine, making absolutely sure it wouldn’t blow up again. Fun Bot and Mr. Fun Computer were a safe distance away and covered in bubble wrap. They were watching their parents with awe-filled eyes. Then, the machine was activated, and it preformed its functions perfectly. Clukr and Garnold chose to leave it on for a month just to see how well it would do not blowing up, and it still worked perfectly.
Over a month after the machine had been turned on, it was still working fine, so Clukr and Garnold were asking around for a donor egg, seeing as neither of them ovulated. They soon came to the conclusion that that they needed to go outside more often, as Mr. Sun flashbanged them the second they were outside. They also both noted that they had fewer friends (especially woman friends) than they thought they did before they went outside.
“I thought you’d already started asking around.” Garnold said.
“Yeah, that was weeks ago. Nobody even got back to me.” Clukr said.
Just then, Wenda came around the corner, making both Clukr and Garnold jump at least 5 feet in the air.
“Hi, guys! Wait, where’s your cymbal? And your visor?” Wenda asked.
“We left them at home. Where did you come from?”
“I came from over there? How long have you two been holed up in your house? Jeez...” Wenda said, confused.
“We’ve been building some things. What have you been up to?” Garnold asked.
“Just the usual, you know? I finally cleaned out my closet after procrastinating for forever.” Wenda said.
“That’s good.” Clukr said.
“By the way, I overheard you. What are you asking around for?” Wenda asked.
“W-well, we were asking around for a donor egg. We’re doing some experiments to see if we can create life.” Garnold stuttered.
“Oh. Can I be your sacrifice?” Wenda asked.
Clukr and Garnold looked at each other before looking back at Wenda and nodding.
“That part was easier than I thought it’d be.” Clukr said.
“Well, we need a specific day to set everything up. How does next Monday at 4 PM sound?” Garnold asked.
“That sounds okay, but I might end up cutting it close.” Wenda said.
“That’s okay, we can push it back if needs be.” Garnold said.
“I think 4:30 is the best time for me to come. What exactly are you going to do?” Wenda asked.
“Well, if you’ll take these fertility drugs on Sunday, we’ll take some of your eggs. Then, you can head home.” Garnold explained.
“Alright. I volunteered to be the sacrifice, so sacrifice I shall be.” Wenda said.
“We're not sacrificing you.” Clukr said.
“You’re sacrificing something my body made.” Wenda said playfully.
“Hopefully not?” Garnold said.
“If we're lucky, they'll gestate.” Clukr said.
“Just so you know, if you're planning on giving me the child, don't.” Wenda said firmly.
“Don’t worry, we're not. In fact, we're gonna mess with their genetics so that they don't even look like you.” Clukr responded.
“Alright.” Wenda said.
~~~Little joke bit bc I can’t help myself~~~
“Hey, Clukr, Garnold, why am I tied to the table?” Wenda asked.
“It’s easier to harvest your eggs if you hold still.” Garnold said.
“Oh, yay, I’m a sacrifice!” Wenda said.
“We already said you aren’t.” Garnold said, frustrated.
Clukr did not respond, for he was hyperfocused in keeping the needle steady. Wenda being tied down certainly helped.
~~~I don’t know how IVF egg harvesting works~~~
It had been a month and a half since the egg had been fertilized and its DNA had been fixed to more so resemble Clukr’s. Seeing as it was Garnold’s seed that fertilized the egg, they hadn’t needed to fix it in that regard. It was actually looking okay as it was suspended in the fluids meant to replicate gestation fluids. Clukr had a pea in once hand, and he was comparing the embryo to that size. By the looks of it, they were developing properly.
“So? What’s the verdict?” Garnold asked.
“Our little embryo is doing okay. They’ve grown to the size they’re supposed to.” Clukr said.
“Well, that’s good.” Garnold said.
“Mommy, why are you holding a pea?” Fun Bot asked.
“Well, I’m making sure this little friend-to-be is as big as they’re supposed to be. I think they’re the right size, don’t you, Garnold?” Clukr said.
“Yeah. It looks like they are.” Garnold said.
“Do you know what color they’re gonna be?” Mr. Fun Computer asked.
“Not yet, they’re really small, and I don’t think we’ve seen an embryo at this age yet. This is history in the making.” Clukr said.
“Are they supposed to be that bright pink?” Mr. Fun Computer asked.
“If I added my DNA strands correctly and it was indeed Garnold’s seed that fertilized this egg, then no.” Clukr said.
“Like he said, we’ve never seen an embryo at this age.” Garnold said.
“Do you think they’ll look more like you or Daddy?” Fun Bot asked.
“I think they’ll look like your dad.” Clukr said.
“Why do you say that?” Garnold asked.
“Well, babe, my genetics were added on, unlike yours, so I think your genes will prevail.” Clukr said.
“Well, didn’t we replace Wenda’s genes with yours?” Garnold asked.
“Maybe, I’m not sure if it worked. The YouTube video only had 50,000 likes.” Clukr said.
“You seriously looked up a YouTube video?”
“Do you know how to alter genetics?”
“Fair point.”
“Mommy, why is the embryo so small?” Fun Bot asked.
“Well, when you combine two tiny things, you get another tiny thing.” Clukr said.
“But how are babies made, Mommy?” Mr. Fun Computer asked.
“That’s a question for another day...” Clukr said, blushing.
