Warm. That’s what this was. Despite his cryo vision, all he could feel right now was warmth. Warmth of the body; warmth of the environment; warmth of the soul….
Freminet let out a soft sigh as he adjusted the blanket, cuddling closer and burying his head against Ga-Ming, hiding away from the bright above-head lights. Ga-Ming dimmed them swiftly.
Nothing could be more perfect.
Meeting online isn’t the best way to find the love of your life, and certainly not the most picture-perfect. Families have nothing to do but ask questions and worry for you, especially if you’re long-distance…. But to Freminet, all of that stress was worth it the moment he received the familiar ping of his phone whenever Ga-Ming responded to him.
They were almost complete opposites in personality. Freminet was shy, quiet, and consistently anxious about everything. He didn’t understand why he cursed himself by trusting this person online, even though he hadn’t seen his face at that point. Ga-Ming, on the other hand, was extroverted, loud, and infectiously happy.
It was hard not to smile in Ga-Ming’s presence, even if from behind a cracked screen.
“I’m so happy you’re happy! :)” became the daily phrase—with the exception of bad days on one of their ends. Even if Freminet had been feeling as empty as a jellyfish, floating aimlessly throughout the endless blue sea, he still found joy in the little moments he shared with that friend behind the screen.
The blond Fontainian boy hummed quietly as he felt the gentle kiss on his forehead, his eyelashes falling gracefully on the tips of his cheeks when he shut his eyes to the touch. Ga-Ming smiled, and did the same in response, using Freminet’s head like a pillow as they lay there in the comfortable silence.
That’s the thing about relationships; even if they’re built on words and sounds, even the silence can feel like heaven. Just two boys in the massive world, combating the constant stress and tension with soft, unspoken love. It didn’t need to be spoken, after all: it was in the air.
For months and years Freminet had battled with himself over this boy he now lay with. Should he really be attracted to someone online? It’s not safe. Not in the slightest. Ga-Ming could’ve been a 60 year old registered sex-offender, for all he knew. But still, Freminet’s heart betrayed his logic. He fell, and hard. It was pitiful, but it was the truth. And now, seeing Ga-Ming in person every day; knowing he’s truly the loving man Freminet fell for, Freminet couldn’t help but smile. Daily; hourly; minutely; secondly.
Maybe trusting your heart over your head is the best decision you can make.
Maybe choosing to love, rather than choosing to hesitate, is worth the potential pain.
