Notes:

Chapter Text

Dawn echoed across the mountainous arena, The Sixteen lay across the spawn, breathing heavily deep within the throes of sleep. The Interns walk between the players taking note of anything that needs to be fixed. The Sixteen's code has already been modified, lives added, the start of the story written before they even started.

"Welcome to Botanical Life an experimental minecraft hardcore miniseries with a twist. I'm joined by 15 other players and all of us have three lives on our first life we have a green name and all we have to do is survive in a very small minecraft world and have some fun when we die our name will change to yellow now this is okay but we're in hot water because if we die again we will be on our third life now this is where it gets interesting because if you're on your third life your name turns red and your goal changes you then become hostile and have to take out everyone else's lives on the server and if you die in your third life you enter spectator mode and the series is over for you this is gonna be a lot of fun so let's jump in"

Grian's voice echoes over the craggy mountain range, the sound bouncing off each mountain creating an echo chamber. Once Grian finished saying his line, the group awkwardly laughs.

Geminitay watches as the sun comes up, glittering across the snow. As she props herself up she looks across the group. People who feel familiar and yet unfamiliar. Now sitting cross legged she watches as curiosity flickers across a few players faces.

Fear grips her heart as she recognises some of the other players flashes of death by their hands flickering across her mind.

Pushing herself up she looks around before running. Her breathe panicked, who is she? Where is she?

"Gem. GEM." Etho's voice echoes behind her spinning around the valley. "GEMINITAY slow down please."

Spinning around to face Etho she breathes deeply, the icy air

"Etho I don't know who I am or where we are, or why we are. I only know a few rules and I don't know my relationship with anyone except that I know people. I am afraid of everyone because I know I have died to their hands before. I don't know when, I don't know why, I don't even know how, I just know that I do." As she is saying this, she is dragged into a hug by Etho.

"Breathe. You need to breathe to survive." Etho does slow breathes, and Geminitay copies him breathing in time with him. "You should also get tools, make a house. You need to remember how to survive."

Etho starts punching a tree in a rhythm, and Geminitay follows breathing in with each punch and out with another. The rhythmic beat becomes a steady background noise. Geminitay makes a crafting table, immediately reaching for the oh so familiar wooden axe starter weapon, and she stutters to a stop.

"Etho… do you see the axe recipe, or any weapon recipe anywhere."

"No."

As Etho utters that phrase a scroll falls onto the crafting table. Geminitay reaches for it, unfurling the parchment. In a steady voice she reads out the scroll.

"Team of two, that is you.
You may have find a flaw within your routine.
Weapons far, weapons few.
We have a clue for you.

Weapons lay in wait for you,
knowledge waits for you."

And as Geminitay utters the final word the scrolls disintegrates.

"So we need to find our weapons?" Etho coughs, as he readjusts his headband.

"…I guess. Team?" Geminitay offers a handshake to Etho. In which he grips her hand before shaking it.
"We should call ourselves A (lack of) Murder Of Crows."
