Work Header

Mornings

Summary:

Most of the time, Loveshot's up before he is, going to eat breakfast and start their day.

On this autumn day, Hotdog wakes around the same time they do.

He asks them to stay just a little longer, this time.

Work Text:

The sun shone through the cracks in the blinds, small beams lighting up the floor and the bed, softly illuminating the previously dark room.

The two laid in bed, Hotdog in Loveshots arms, holding they close. As the sun moves up in the horizon, a beam of light shines into their eyes, causing them to shift and cover their eyes with one of their arms.

They grumble softly from the rude awakening from the sun, not wanting to get up just yet.

Sure, they had no idea what time it was, and there was no way they were checking right now, but they had a feeling it was early.

Despite the interruption by the world itself, he starts to slip back into sleep, or at least he was until he feels Loveshot pull away.

He removes his arm from his face, turning onto his back and looking up at them, trying to blink the tiredness away.

They're looking over at his clock, eyes caught in a sunbeam from where he was laying.

In the sun, their dark purple eyes shine, showing up as a bit brighter than usual.

It was beautiful. They were beautiful.

He's cut from his thoughts as they move closer to the end of the bed, but he sits up and grabs their arm before they can get the chance to slide off the bed.

"Please stay," He mumbles, voice soft.

They jump a little, as if not having expected him to be awake, turning to him.

Loveshot opens their mouth to say something, but as they stare at him, it seems the thought dissipates.

Quietly, they slip back under the covers, opening their arms up for him.

Hotdog smiles softly at them, going into their arms, facing them and laying his head down on the pillow along with them.

They pull him closer, kissing him on the forehead. His face grows warm and he hides it in their chest.

"Just for a little bit," They say finally, kissing the top of his head.

He hums in response, closing his eyes.

He's already drifting back to sleep, their warmth filling him.

He feels them petting his head and he leans into the touch sleepily, giving into the hands of sleep once more.

This time, Loveshot just holds him close, feeling no rush to get up immediately.

They should do this more, they realize.

Not just for him, but for themself too.

This, a slow, sleepy start to the day, was nice.

Soon, they find themselves drifting back to sleep as well, holding him close.

Sleeping in couldn't hurt, anyways.
