Hello all. It’s inabsolutes.
I recently replayed all of the Ace Attorney games and couldn’t help but think 3 things.
- Man, Phoenix was a dick to Apollo in AA4, wasn’t he? All for a legal system overhaul that didn’t work out?
- If Phoenix was going to come back in AA5, Maya should have come back, too.
- I miss Shu Takumi.
So this longfic is a result of those thoughts.
A few notes:
- This fic is deceptively Maya-centric. Which means I do discuss Kurain Village and the Kurain Channeling School at length.
Yes. I actually like the supernatural elements in Ace Attorney, cue the shocked gasps. But I promise the world-building is all necessary!
Think of Maya as your window into a familiar yet strange new world. Half of the fun of this fic, to me, is seeing Maya’s reaction to the world post time-skip… and how she’s changed since Phoenix’s disbarment.
- There are depictions of taboo relationships, including, but not limited to, incest, boss-employee, and age gap relationships.
Them’s the breaks for a game series written by Shu Takumi. Histrionic pearl-clutching about pRoBleMaTic ships/tropes/characters will be mocked and dismissed.
- Plot-relevant details are depicted in red. Character monologues are depicted in blue.
Oh, and finally, Ghost Trick was tagged for, uh, reasons.
