Chapter Text
"No... Not nothing... Mom, Dad, Pilar.. Im gay" Pilar instantly went over, wrapping her brother up in a comforting hug. A hug he never expected from his sister, the girl who had been so uncomfortable with such familial touch, yet he welcomed it.
His eyes fogged over, as tears threaten to over spill, despite his mom and dad having sat quite since. "I am so proud of you, Victor." Pilar whispered in his ear, before releasing the hug and starting to walk to her room.
Step, Step, Step. Her footsteps echoed down the silent hallway, his youngest brother already asleep. As he finally heard the bedroom door of his younger sister shut, and the music playing through the walls, did he dare to look at his parents.
Or atleast, he tried, as not even a second after the door shut, he felt a searing pain in his side, as he was knocked to the floor by his dad. In the shock, he couldnt hear the string of prayers his mother chanted, his ears ringing in the silence. Then, another blast of searing pain, his vision going white for a second as a kick was delivered at his side. Armandos voice breaks through the ringing, a dangerous tone, that sends a shiver down Victor.
"We didnt raise you this way. We didnt raise you to follow this path of sin." Another kick to his side, before he was roughly pulled up by the collar of his shirt.
His legs were wobbly, standing feeling like doing a marathon as his body tensed up, a hit to his face, his fathers ring cutting deep into the skin at his cheekbone. Followed by another, and another, before his father dropped him to the floor, storming out the house, mumbling about the 'Disgrace' that his oldest son has turned too.
And finally, a loud slam echoed throughout the house, as the door was shut behind his father. Victor just sat there, slumped on the hardwood floor, breath becoming more and more uneven. He looked towards the seat that his mom had been sat on, to see that she had also disappeard, leaving only a cross in its place.
A sob. The first noise that had left him since the confession. And another, another, until he was balling his eyes out on the floor of his familys appartment. His sobs were continuous, until his throat was raw and dry.
Wiping his face to remove the last few tears crawling down his cheeks, so slow it was as if it was to mock him, he started to lift himself up. His legs shook when he was fully stood, and he had to grab hold of a cabinet until he could stand without being at risk of falling back on the floor.
When he finally found his legs to have stopped trembling as violently, did he let himself stumble to his room, before dialing the number of the person who has always kept him safe. The person who had guided him through the last several months of questioning.
His phone screen, although dim, read: Calling Simon Spier
One ring, a tear was falling down his cheek, despite Victor thinking he had cried all he could.
A second ring, Two more tears
A third ring, his hand came over his mouth, muffling the sobs threatning to spill.
A fourth ring, before a sudden "Victor?" And suddenly, the silent cries became full blown sobs.
"Woah, Woah, Victor, Buddy, What happend?" Simon questioned, the concern radiating through each word, as shuffling in the background was heard, likely Bram.
Yet Victor couldnt find the guts to say everything besides a "Can I come see you please, I cant stay here anymore."
"Of Course Bud. Anything you need, but what happened thats got you so upset?" Simon responded.
"I cant say right now... I need to get to the bus station, the sooner the better." Victor rushed out through his sobs, although they were quietening at the comforting sound of Simons voice.
"Okay Victor, Well, of course you can come stay, ill buy you your ticket and send it over" Simon offered, although there was no question to it.
"Thank you... Thank you so much" Victor said, his voice full of shaky gratitude, the sobs evening out again as his breaths evened out.
"Of course. Ill see you soon Victor, Sent your ticket over already. We love you buddy, get here safe, okay? And, if youd like, bring a friend or two, it sounds liike you could do with some familiarity" Simon finalised, before hanging up the phone too start prepairing stuff for his guests.
Victor Started packing his bag immediatly, before remebering his promise to Benji, to message him when he was home.
Victor: Hey Benji, Im home, but not for much longer... Im going to new york, not sure how long for, to stay with friends. Ill miss you, but I cant stay here anymore. Not for a while atleast
Benji: Woah... Vic... Whats going on
Benji: Victor?
Benji: Victor answer me. What happened
Benji: Okay... Im buying myself a bus ticket... You need to talk to me
Victor ignored each ping, his heart breaking at each one. He zipped up his bag, packed with enough clothes for atleast 2 weeks. It also had his toiletries. He also packed a backpack, containing his headphones, his wallet, and some activities for him to do while away. Finally, he pulled out his walkie talkie to radio Felix. Despite it being 10:30 at night.
Felix, this is Victor, Are you available for a bit. If so meet me outside, Over.
Ill be out in just a second... Everything okay dude, Over.
Not really.... But ill tell you more outside, over and out.
Without waiting for a response from Felix, Victor grabbed his phone and charger, Picked up his bags and left the house, walking down the flight of stairs to the door at the front. The chill night air of spring evening sending chills down his spine. He walked over to a brick wall. The brick wall from a day ago, from when he told Felix his biggest secret. The secret that wounded him. Not just physically.
His thoughts spiralled, a whirlwing in his mind, the negatives enveloping the posiitves, before he was dragged back to reality by Felix, concern on his face obvious by the bags, and the trembling form of his friend.
An audible gasp left Felix's mouth, at the sight of Victors swollen cheek, gashes with crusted blood, and bruises all over.
"Victor, and excuse my french, or should i say spanish for you, but what the FUCK happend.. Why does it look like you just got on the wrong side of some thug, and why all the bags" Felix exclaimed, his voice wavering with a level of uncertainty on how to deal with the situation.
"I told them... My parents. I said the words. That im gay. Guess ive upset god, or whatevers up there. Im going to New York for a while, to stay with friends. Im sorry Felix" Victor explained, keeping it brief, knowing his time limit, both for his fathers return, and for the departure of his bus.
"Ill be back soon... Maybe, but ive got to go for now. My bus is in 30 minutes. See you soon Felix" Victor finalised, before starting the walk to the train station, leaving Felix on the wall, in a state of shock, confusion, and most suprisingly, anger.
A deep rooted anger that he had never felt before, aimed at the Salazar Family, despite the kind hospitality both adults had shown to him in the past.
Victor kept walking, and made it to the bus station, with seven minutes to spare. He went up to the ticket desk, quickly showing the ticket, before hearing his name called, the voice one that he would never forget. The velvety sound, the slight husk that came with the lateness.
He turned around, and there stood Benji, a bag packed aswell, ticket in his right hand.
As soon as Benji saw Victor, he ran to him, grabbing his hand, and using his other one (after slipping the ticket in his pocket), to stroke the bruised cheek gingerly.
"What Happend?" Benji asked, but Victor just stared, before hearing the final call for the bus.
"Ill- Look, ill tell you later, but i have to leave Benji, please.." Victor pleaded, his voice wavering
"Okay Victor... But im coming with you... Im not leaving you alone like this.... Especially after tonight. I care for you, so very deeply.. Im your oyfriend after all." Benji finished, before pressing a chaste kiss to Victors lips.
They walked, hand in hand, towards the bus, putting there bags under the coach, before finding there seats inside. Victor had the window, Benji the isle.
"Thank you Benji.... For being here. Im so glad to be your boyfriend," Victor whispered, leaning his head on his shoulder. "However, I should probably message my friend and let him know youre coming."
Victor pulls out his phone, before loading up his texts with Simon
Victor: Hey Simon, Im on the bus, Its going to leave in about 3 minutes.
Simon: Okay buddy, Travel safe, Me and Bram will pick you up when you arrive.
Victor: Okay... Also... My boyfriend is with me, he brought his ticket before i had even arrived, and he wants to be with me... Is that okay?
Simon: When you say boyfriend, do you mean Benji? And yes, of course thats okay. Like i said, the familiarity seems like itll do you good... We love you buddy (Bram wanted me to say this again. He also says hi Boyfriend.)
Victor: Haha, Hi Bram! I love you guys too... Thank you again, so much... We will see you soon... Imma try to sleep now though.
Simon: Okay buddy, sleep well, and we will see you when you arrive.... Talk to you later.
Victor turned off his phone, turning to look up at Benji, seeing his face in a state of shock.
"Your Friends are Simon and Bram?! As in... The ferris wheel ones!?"
