Hello, and welcome to the second Halloween event to Twst Tone.! This time it’s the Playful Land itself. Admittedly, I’m nervous about this one since it’s not only a different event, it’s not my super favorite event. I DO like the stakes for this one, and Fellow and Gidel are dangerous foils that fit the themes of Twisted Wonderland, but my love for Glomas was too big hehe…
Anyway, for how things will play out in this fic, there are some things I plan to lay out here:
- Firstly, the Reyvateils of this story. Since Book 04 and 05 are out, the canon boys who live alongside our heroine came out as Song Mages too; them being Kalim Al-Asim and Vil Schoenheit! And thus, these two will have their respective roles in the story, but also be free to mess around and use their spells at will~ (For context: Both boys are Third Generation types, Meryu is 2nd Generation.)
- Speaking of our heroine, Meryu will act as her Glomas counterpart- a second gen IPD; it’s to hide some spoilers about the other members of the cast in canon. 🤫 That said, revelations to parts of the Ar Tonelico series, particularly Melody of Metafalica are gonna be implied here again too. Just a tiny food for thought. In addition, the side effects that she experienced from Glomas will be hinted at. So in essence, some parts of that event are reflected in this fic a bit as well.
- Even though they are not the canonical family to Meryu, Frelia and Shu will nbe mentioned in passing. Infel on the other hand...
- Events are roughly still between B6 and B7, so the events are a bit different here. However, as I do plan to hopefully make a B8 to the OG story, there are some possible implications to things that will occur in the potential future. So keep some of them in mind.
- And finally, be on the lookout for Fellow Honest, as he is not all what he appears to be~ (Except for Gidel. Cause Gidel is still Gidel 😁)

In the shadows of a glowing theme park, a wandering soul stumbled onto this place. Before him stood figures, one tall and one small; a fox beastman in an eccentric patterned suit, and an adolescent cat beastman holding a toy hammer. They stopped the passing traveler, identical smiles on their faces. “Ah~ Welcome, welcome~ I can tell just from that shine in your eyes you are [someone special]!” The mysterious man said happily to the confused traveler. “Yes you! The budding scholar with a gleam of intellect in your eye! Tell me, do you know about [Playful Land]?”
They nodded sort of unsure of what he meant. “...Of course you have! And look!” He and his associate gestured to the glowing lights and sign behind them. The smiling face and glow hidden eyes of the Park’s Founder gazing down below. “That illusionary amusement park just so happens to be right here, before your very eyes!” Confetti, glitter and the sound of cheering voices echoed at the gate. The traveler’s eyes widened at the sight of the place. “And as a matter of fact, I happen to have a [rare ticket] I was thinking of giving to you~” The fox smiled as his [guest] pointed at themselves, face obviously asking the silent question. “Why, you ask? Why else?” He places his hands on their shoulders, his business smile never leaving his face. “Because you have the makings of a [Star!] Isn’t that right~” He turns to the young cat boy, who nods happily.
“There, you see? By all means, don’t be shy. I swear on my good name…” He flashes a fanged smile. “...That you’ll be the biggest star in the park!” The traveler beamed, accepting the ticket from both men. “Got it? Great! Then off to Playful Land we go!”
As the traveler whistled a tune as they made their way through the gates, they never realized how much danger they were in. Nor the malicious smiles on both scheming beasts faces as they saw their prey enter this Spider Web.
Never to be seen again…
“Mmmmmmm. …HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!”
