Chapter Text
Uzi didn't have a good life, not good at all. She never got to see her mother as a pill baby, living with her father, Khan Doorman.
Growing up, she never had any friends, heck, even anyone who sympathised with her, anyone who gave her a helping hand when she needed it! Her father always tried to ignore her, acting like she doesn't exist, that she wasnt in the house that he lived in.
"Bye, gotta go look out for the doors!"
This is what she heard every day, when she woke up. No 'Good Morning!', no 'How was your sleep?', only him making an excuse to go away. The doors were more important than her. Whats worse is that the posters that had her father were humiliating her even further with constant quotes of:
"Doors are my real daughter."
"How to deal with your disappointment of a child."
Of course, from that came the bullying in the school. If even her father could be so cruel to her, you can only expect what was at school. Even when walking through the hallway she always heard atleast 3 people saying things like
"LOL, look at this loser!"
"Even her dad hates her, how annoying do you need to be for that!"
"She's probably damaged, 'PoOr ThInG'"
The school's popular girls didnt help either, Lizzy and her band always forced her to be on the lookout for 'harmless' pranks.
The pranks weren't always harmless.
She was forced to go to the doctor atleast 7 times now, last time her visor cracked from the impact of the hammer flying out of her locker.
Insults coming from them hit the closest to home
"Why are you still even here, freak"
"Awwh this weirdo didnt even see her mom!"
"Go ahead and die just like her"
Outside the school, she wasn't liked either.
People outside only saw her as 'The freak daughter of Khan'.
People in the WDF fully supported Khan with the whole thing of 'Doors being more important than his daughter'
She hated everyone in her school.
She hated everyone in the WDF.
Everyone HAD to make fun of her.
Why was she still even living in this bunker?
...
Why WAS she still living in this bunker?
...
This thought plagued her mind one too many times. But there were still a couple of people she kinda cared about.
Her father Khan
He may have been ignoring her all life, he was still her father, she does care if something happened to him.. maybe...
Her cousin Doll
While Doll was part of the group that tourmented her, when they were making her life a living hell, she saw a smidge of sadness in Doll's eyes.
And at last, Thad
Thad was a.. mixed package.
He was pranking Uzi, sure, but those were more of the fun-type pranks, the ones that you later laugh off, and if people did go too far, he did try to stop them.. not like it was working.
When she was home, she had her free time to do whatever she wanted since her father was never home, last time she actually saw him at home was 4 years ago.
Not like she had much energy OR time she considered free on weekdays, she always was either too tired from school, or forced to fix her things because of the pranks.
Each day she cried herself to sleep.
She couldn't do it.
She couldn't live like this, always alone.
Noone was alongside her who could say that everything was ok.
She was heartbroken.
Amidst all of this, she had a plan.
A plan that would make people understand her, stop making fun of her, ACKNOWLEDGE HER!
Kill a Murder Drone.
This was an insane idea, but it was her only bet. A few days ago, she started working on her Sick-As-Hell Railgun! Ok maybe it's not a railgun, its a 'magnetically amplified photon converger' BUT RAILGUN SOUNDS COOLER!
Since yesterday she ran out of materials, she would have to find them somewhere. And she couldn't find anything more inside the colony.
Will she really have to go outside to finish her project?
Outside the doors, to where those murder drones live?
..WITHOUT her railgun?
...
She's no coward, unlike the WDF.
And besides..
She really has no other choice, huh?
——————————
She reminded him too much of her mother. No matter how much he tried to repress it, he could only see Her in his daughter's eyes.
And he despised her for it.
Each day he left home, trying not to see her, he always was overtime 'working' on the doors. He couldn't come home and look into her purple eyes, not after She disappeared.
He always told everyone that the murder drones got to Her, but he didnt see it himself. He only saw Her one day, and never again. That was a wound that could never leave him.
But when his wife was still there, She was a bit weird for a worker drone.
Physically his wife was taller than Khan, and just to rub salt on the wound, his daughter got that from her mother too.
Uzi's attitude was also from her mom..
Why was she so like her mother?
Whatever.. just have to keep doing his job, that will help him get some steam off.
A voice rang out behind him, other WDF members sitting, playing cards.
"Hey Khan! Can you grab a fresh pack? Numbers on this one almost faded, kinda hard to play now"
Sigh
He reassured himself mentally
"Cmon Khan, there's still work to do, look over the doors, cant go on a trip down memory lane now."
——————————
J's day was boring, as usual.
She completed today's kill quota and was full, so she came back to the pod.
There wasn't anything interesting today, just worker drones screaming as usual.
After she confirmed that her teammates were still far away, she decided to continue practicing not using corporate speak and not lowering the person she's speaking to in her mind to the ground.. bleugh
"Hello deares- grh" she grunted, as she yet again almost slipped a bunch of corporate speak in, and was 'talking' up to her imaginary person
"Hello fellow empl- RAAH"
As she tried to make a scentence without corporate speak and saying it straight, it slowly started getting better
"Hello, I am J, and you are about to die you low wa-" she started, struggling to not say it fully "..about to die because you'remynextmeal!.. haha.. phew"
..This sounds a bit too much like N..
Anyways, she succeeded in making a not-really-normal monologue! Atleast its better than last time.. if only she could actually have someone to practice this with.. ok no she's not getting V for this, she would just humiliate her for struggling with this for the rest of J's life. And she's not getting N for this because.. uh.. because he's N! Kinda annoying, he's too uh.. err.. doesn't matter.
Sigh
She did her fair share of struggling with speaking today, so she can just start writing the report for the company, gonna write out everything in her field, most of the stuff in N's field, fill V's field and just redact the last two when they get back.
...
Wait.
...
Is that a new message from the company?
"Lets see what it's about.." J lightly blurted out
"To all Disassembly Drone squads:
We are adding a new section to the JcJenson In Spaaaaace 'Disassembly Drone rulebook'. It is expected that all squads read the new rule section, as it contains new actions that you are allowed to do with Worker Drones."
[Attached: JcJenson_In_Spaaaaace_Rulebook_Part7]
"Interesting.." J said, feeling tired from all the practicing and reports. "I'll take a quick nap and read it later.."
