Notes:

For cinderellas-humble-narrator on Tumblr!! Thank you so much for the idea! I hope you enjoy! It's been ages since I wrote these two so apologies if it's a bit different form my other Cynthia/Diane fics :))

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Cynthia couldn't remember the last time she'd had a day off. What with the fate of national security at stake, it made it a lot harder to get holidays approved. But today she had a legitimate excuse. So much snow had fallen the night before that it was physically impossible for Cynthia to get to work. She'd had to come up with a plausible reason why she wasn't at her own house — which was minutes from A.S.S. headquarters — but at the home of her top agent, but once the higher ups bought it, she was off the hook for the rest of the day.

Of course, she wasn't at this house because of Curt (Though, of course, that was Owen's reasoning for staying), but because Diane was there. They'd both been incredibly busy, especially with Christmas coming up, and Cynthia found herself missing Diane more than she had expected to.

"You're thinking." Diane commented, leaning into Cynthia's side. They were sat on a bench outside, watching Curt and Owen attempt to make a snowman — Cynthia had truly never seen a worse attempt at such a thing, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves.

"I'm often thinking." Cynthia replied, pointedly ignoring the implied question.

Diane rolled her eyes. "You know what I meant, dear. What's on your mind?"

Cynthia sighed, turning to face Diane. "I just… It would be nice to see you more often. I mean, we've barely been together for the past few months, and…"

Diane smiled. "Are you trying to say that you miss me?" She asked, a teasing undertone to her voice.

Blushing profusely, Cynthia replied. "Possibly."

Chuckling, Diane pressed a soft kiss to Cynthia's forehead. "Well, it's nearly Christmas. Perhaps we could spend a few days together then? If, that is, the Government can spare you for that long."

"I'll ask. I've been meaning to get my new deputy to spend some time filling in." Cynthia considered the possibility. It might be possible, if she could convince her bosses that her deputy was capable of taking over for a few days. Whether or not that was strictly true remained to be seen, but, she supposed, there was only one way to find out.

Cynthia glanced up at Diane's face, to see a wide grin had overtaken the soft smile of before. "Now you're thinking." Cynthia said.

"The boys are awfully preoccupied over there." Diane gestured to Curt and Owen. "I doubt they'd even notice if we came right up behind them, they're so focused. And I know Curt was telling me how much he loved snowball fights as a kid…"

Cynthia raised an eyebrow. "Snowball fights?"

"Oh, come on, Cynthia, it'd be fun! Haven't you always wanted to hurl something at Curt?"

Cynthia considered for a moment. This was true, she did often feel tempted to throw something at the man. Slowly, she got to her feet, and gathered a ball of snow into her hands. Diane did the same, falling into a fit of silent giggles. As much as Cynthia loved her, she was absolutely not subtle.

They crept up behind them, Cynthia aiming at Curt and Diane at Owen. Just as Cynthia let go of her snowball, Curt swung around and was hit squarely in the face. Owen cackled with Cynthia, but was cut off by a similar attack from Diane.

"Oh, now you're gonna get it!" Curt laughed, readying himself to fight back. From there, the afternoon quickly dissolved into icy chaos, with snowballs being tossed back and forth for the better part of an hour. It was surprisingly enjoyable.

Cynthia was already making plans for when she visited at Christmas. It was set to snow heavily again, and she and Diane were going to have great time.

Notes:

Comments and kudos, as always, bring this gay chaos flamingo much joy
