Chapter Text
Bright colors and lights swarm everything. Each pattern seems unreal. Maybe it is unreal, but he couldn’t know.
His eyes feel dizzy. They spun in spirals. He felt bare. He could feel that his normal pair of overalls that he always wore were missing, and he was naked, but that was the least of his worries.
Of course, he should be worrying; he’s in a place where somebody could go insane, and he’s floating. But for some reason, his mind can’t help but ignore all of them. It reverts to the calmness in the air, and leaves his exposed body to rest.
These hallucinations, what he calls them, they’ve been happening more and more now. It isn’t something he can necessarily control. Maybe he could, but it feels insane and awkwardly difficult to do so.
Why would he want to stop it, anyway? It feels nice. A weird type of nice, a feeling of warmth in your non-existent heart.
It also feels worrisome. Is this concerning? Is this a sign of abstraction? If it is, then he needs to stop it, right?
Does he want to abstract?
“Ragatha, who’s Ribbit?”
Her doll-like eyes turn towards her wide ones, and give her a look of surprise.
“Why Pomni?”
Everybody seems to be a bit dull now; traumatized is the right word. Quiet. After that adventure Caine just had to host, everything seems silent. No sound, not even Jax’s shenanigans. Actually, Jax has mostly been rotting in his room for a while now.
“Well..” she started, fiddling with her fingers. “..you mentioned them in that conversation with Abel, or whoever..but you did, right?” A blank stare. Then she nodded. “Yea, I remember.” She smiled, leaning on the red couch she was sitting in, relaxing herself.
But that smile of hers faded, and she squinted her eyes at the ground.
“Ribbit’s just..someone who abstracted.” She did a small gesture with her mouth. She barely opened it, like she wanted to add more on to that, but she paused and kept it shut.
“Is it the frog?” Pomni asked, looking up at her.
She nodded.
“But, why Pomni? Why do you wanna know?”
Pomni thought about an answer.
“I don’t know, I’m just interested. Are they someone..someone else knew?”
Ragatha hummed.
She took a small breath. Something was holding her back from saying the words she was about to utter. “Like Jax?”
Ragtha’s eyes widened slightly. “How do you know that-“ She caught herself and paused. “..Jax probably would hate me for saying this, but yea. How do you know that, Pomni?” She gave her an interesting look.
“I saw him roaming around the room at night. He was just..walking in the halls, and he paused at the frog’s door. I saw it, and I remembered the name Ribbit, like what you said.”
Ragatha blinked. “He was at her door?”
“Well, from what I could see, yea..he was just standing there.”
“Huh..” Ragatha said.
“..speaking of Jax, he hasn’t been..we haven’t seen him a lot, have we?”
“Now that you mentioned it, I haven’t seen him at all today.” Pomni replied.
Ragatha sighed. “Well, I hope he’s alright..”
A sorrowful look was on her face.
Pomni thought of an idea. An idea that was somewhat risky, especially after all the conflict between them, but she thought of it. She looked at Ragatha, and gave her a small smile.
“I can go check up on him.” She gave her an awkward thumbs-up.
