Work Text:

“ Don't you think that would be too much, Miss Kagome?” Rin asked with a blush on her cheeks.

The priestess smiled reassuringly at her, placing her hands on hers as they rested on the young's lap, causing her to turn and stare intently into her blue eyes.

"I don't think he'll refuse" she covered her mouth with her wrist to stifle the laughter that was struggling to escape her lips. “Or do you think he will?”

"No, but…”

"Rin, he'll do whatever you ask him to" Kagome winked with one of those sea-colored eyes of hers that began to sparkle at the prospect of the answer. "It's better to go back."

Both girls got up to shake out their clothes. They had to go to Kaede's cabin, since that was where the white demon made his visits. When they arrived, Sango and Miroku were inside preparing some tea, while Inuyasha was trying to kill his brother with his golden eyes. The daiyoukai had his usual expression of not giving a damn about his surroundings until he spotted the teenager girl.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin ran to his side, trying not to throw herself at him. The last thing she wanted was to upset him if she had a proposal to make. Although, as Kagome had said, he never refused her anything, and given that it was a special date (at least for her, Sesshomaru never talked about it), she wasn't going to take no for an answer.

"Rin" Unlike the girl, the demon did not show the same ecstatic joy as her.

They sat there for a while as Rin died of nervousness, which made her talk more than usual, something that Sesshomaru had undoubtedly noticed, but he was giving her time to make her request.

"Have you thought about betrothing her?" The monk's question was directed at Inuyasha, but Miroku found himself under attack from two amber and one blue gaze, while Rin almost began to hyperventilate.

"I don't want to get married!" Rin almost ran to hide behind her protector when she gave her answer, although all she did was move her hand until she felt Sesshomaru's stole.

"Nonsense."

"I see..." Miroku just smiled and let the subject drop. He had gotten the answer he wanted, and that was enough.

Minutes later, Sango served tea with a smile despite wanting to kill her husband for asking such a question. What did he expect to achieve? Sesshomaru would never allow any male to approach Rin.

"Lord Sesshomaru…" the girl's little voice made him turn around, forgetting the anger he hid from others, as well as the apathy he felt at having to share his precious air with those inferior beings. Today was Rin's birthday, so to speak, as it was the anniversary of when he revived her, and the little girl liked to spend it with Inuyasha's whole group and him.

"What is it?"

Rin bit her lip, unsure of how to proceed. Having Sesshomaru's complete attention was overwhelming her; her flushed cheeks were proof of that. Silently, the demon asked her to continue with what she was going to say, so taking a deep breath and summoning all the courage she would ever possess, she opened her lips and made her request:

"I want a puppy!"

Dead silence.

Sango spat out her tea exactly two seconds after her brain registered the girl's request, the liquid ending up on the face and neck of her husband, who had his familiar perverted smile spread across his face. Inuyasha clutched his chest tightly, where his heart must have been racing a mile a minute, his skin pale as if his worst nightmare was talking to him about spending a weekend together.

But Sesshomaru, the demon so feared by all, stood there with a perplexed and speechless expression, completely focused on his innocent and pure protégée.

“What?”

Was there a possibility that his hearing was being contaminated by the presence of such despicable humans? Sesshomaru hoped so, because he was certainly not going to give the girl that.

“I want a puppy!”

This time, Rin's smile was brighter than usual.

He was screwed.

Fucking screwed. Naraku could never compare to that. It was true that the thought of having children with Rin had crossed his mind before, however the fact that she was the one proposing it was fucking uncomfortable, not to mention somewhat... exciting?

"Do you think it's a good idea?" Kagome spoke with a smile, thinking that her friends were overreacting. "Rin is responsible enough now, and I doubt she would ever leave him."

Inuyasha glared at her, demanding silence with his golden eyes. Kagome returned the gesture without understanding. What was wrong with that guy?

"Now?" Sesshomaru asked.

"Don't even think about it!" The half-demon jumped up immediately. "You seriously can't be considering it"

"But I want a puppy" Rin muttered sadly.

"Everyone pause".

That was the thought of the adults present, except for Kagome, of course.

"What... what are you talking about, Rin?" Sango was the first to speak, trying not to bite her tongue. Damn it, she didn't want to know about the girl's fantasies with the demon, but she needed to know what she meant by puppy.

It was Kagome and Rin's turn to frown at each other. What were they thinking?

"A pet?" the priestess ventured, somewhat suspiciously.

Inuyasha and Sango blushed at the same time, while the latter hid her cheeks from view. Miroku snorted, losing his smile.

Sesshomaru stood up without saying a word and, as silently as he had arrived, left without saying goodbye to Rin. He definitely needed a break.

"Sesshomaru!" The teenager ran after him, but all she saw was the figure of the daiyoukai disappearing into the clouds. "What did I do wrong?"

"Asking him for a puppy!" Inuyasha exploded behind her.

"Sit!"

Rin closed her eyes as she saw the half-demon crash to the ground. Suddenly, she felt really sad.

"Rin" Sango approached her. "You didn't do anything wrong, it's just...uh."

“For dog demons, puppy is synonymous with child," Miroku explained with that specific smile that gave Rin the chills because it looked so perverted. The girl blushed three shades redder than Inuyasha's fire rat costume, and with a squeal, she ran away.

Kagome, who was blushing just as brightly, stopped the men from going after her. She needed to think about what had happened with Sesshomaru.

"Oh gods" Rin stopped when she reached the sacred tree and leaned her back against it.

She still remembered the response to her innocent request, which carried a very sharp double meaning: Now.

If she asked Sesshomaru for a baby... would he give her one? Did that mean he loved her, or...?

She screamed in sheer frustration, wanting to bang her head against the tree over and over again to see if that would erase the scene she had just starred in.

"Sesshomaru won't even want to see me" She whispered softly, stroking the bark.

"I suppose it was unpleasant for him"

"You're wrong".

Rin's heart, which seemed to want to run away from its place, stopped. What the hell was her lord doing behind her? When she turned around, her lips opened in a perfect O. After a few seconds, she smiled happily and hugged him. She was about to thank him when she felt Sesshomaru's hot breath on her ear.

"My answer is the same".

He bit the girl's earlobe, and she flinched slightly at the demon's boldness, but to his surprise, she clung to his shoulders in acceptance.

Sesshomaru felt satisfied for a few seconds, until the little black dog shifted uncomfortably, finding itself completely forgotten on the grass between them. He barked, calling Rin's attention and causing her to pull away to pick him up.

"Puppy!"

The daiyoukai growled, claiming his territory, but when the little one whimpered, Rin began to plant little kisses on his furry head. No, Sesshomaru wasn't jealous of that mutt; he just didn't like the idea of having him around. At another growl, the girl smiled to herself, rising so quickly that the demon didn't see her move until her pink lips were on his.

Well, nothing could be wrong, right?

"I bet he'll give her the other puppy" The monk's voice reached his ears, causing a slight frown on the older amber-eyed man's perfect eyebrows.

"Keh”

In favor of the "With a voice and a vote" campaign, because adding to favorites and not leaving a comment is, as other authors have said: "like groping my breast and running away."

I don't mind at all if my stories are added to favorites if you really liked them, but if you took the time to read them, I would greatly appreciate it if you would take five more minutes to leave me your opinion of the fic. It costs you nothing and makes me very happy.

With love,
