Team Umizoomi | Mighty Math Heroes!

Summary:

Milli, Geo, and Bot have always been the closest of friends, practically consider each other like family at this point. Solving everyday problems across Umi-City, and having fun while doing so. But when they lose the part that makes them the most unique, their tininess, and the Troublemakers end up becoming more powerful, AND getting taken in by a blonde-haired boy named Hex, who told them everything regarding the troublemakers...what happens then?

Chapter 1: Prepped and Primed

Chapter Text

...Planet Earth.

Our home. Home to many things. Forests, Mountains, Volcanoes, Oceans, Cities...

And us. Every living being on this Earth. Friends, Family, Enemies...no matter who we are, we are all connected in some way, shape, pattern, or form. And that brings us to here, the capital of connections.

Umi City.

Home to numbers, shapes, patterns, and some of the most high-tech advancements in cyber-technology ever.Ever seen a hoverboard? Well, now you can! Wanted an extra pair of arms made of metal? BAZINGA! Need someone to vent to about all of your childhood problems, but nobody else is around, so you're stuck doing holo-chat with your robotic therapist, and he helps you through the hardest of times?

...Uh...yeah!

But at the center of it all was the team passed down from generation to generation.

Team UmiZoomi.

A team that, for decades upon decades, helped solve problems and many mysteries across Umi-City, and beyond. And this is where we meet the latest and greatest.

We fade into view, looking at what seems to be a decorative fountain smack dab in the center of Umi City Park. The fountain is bubbling to life with water flowing out from the top. And as we do, we begin to pan into a window of the fountain, looking to see a young boy with ocean blue hair and blue clothes, and an unusually -shaped- belt, play with his construction shapes. All is well and good, until...BEARWOP, BEARWOP, BEARWOP! Its the Umi-Alarm! That sound means there's a major problem in Umi-City! Right away, the boy stopped playing with his shapes, and his helmet formed on his head. He rushed to put on his roller skates and ran out of his room.

The camera then panned to the next window to the lower left, showing a girl getting herself ready. Her red hair turned into helmet ponytails as she twirled her dress.

Geo: "Milli, c'mon! We gotta get Bot! The Umi-Alarm is going off!"

Milli, who is following Geo out the door: "On it!"

Then, finally, to the last window, Bot would be sputtering out of his bed/charging station, making excited noises as his limbs extended into a jump.

Geo: "Bot, let's go!"

Milli: "It's time, it's time!"

Bot: "Alright, let's rock and roll, Umi-Style!"

Bot made his way out of his room and followed Milli and Geo into the main living room. The camera followed the trio from the window, and they checked in for the mission briefing.

Bot: "Alrighty, let's see who needs help on my...BELLY BELLY..."

All three of them: "BELLY SCREEN!"

Bot's belly screen began to load what the situation was in Umi-City, and when it did, it showed that a bunch of Watermelons from a watermelon truck fell out due to a loose lock, and they were rolling down the street at a breakneck pace, heading towards city hall!

Bot: "Fruity Flashdrives! The watermelons from the watermelon truck are rolling down Umi-City Streets!"

Milli: Gasp!, "And they're heading for City Hall!"

Geo: "We gotta do something, and fast!"

Bot's Belly Screen stopped showing the scene that was currently happening.

Bot: "We gotta get to Seventh Street, and stop those watermelons before they reach City Hall! Team Umizoomi..."

And in perfect sync, they shout...

"IT'S TIME FOR ACTION!"

Geo: "Umi-Car, were on our way!"

Geo sped off with his Roller Skates with Milli close behind.

Bot: "H-Hey, wait up!"

OST: Heroes - Blaze N Vill

Bot rushed to catch up with them. Then, the camera followed them as they reached the slide. Each of them hopped in, and the camera followed the wacky chaos of the slides, all of the team members whooping and cheering as they slid down. All three of them hopped out of the slide with a joyful expression on their face, and landed in their respective seats inside...

All three: "Umi-car!"

Umi-car revved his engines as each member got in.

Bot: "Ok, team! Seatbelts on!"

Click!

Bot: "Now, you know what to do!"

All three of them shouted as Umicar began to let his tires skreech on the garage floor...

"UMI...ZOOMI!"

And so, Umicar sped off with a powerful roar from his engine. The garage hatch opened, and the team was out.

Bot: "TO SEVENTH STREET!"

As the camera follows Umi-Car, it flies up to an overview of Umi-City to reveal the title...

TEAM UMIZOOMI: MIGHTY MATH HEROES!

Umi-car, and Team Umizoomi by extension, would be zooming at breakneck speeds. Swerving around people and going up stuff as if they were ramps.

Bot: "Ok, team! We're almost there."

Unbeknownst to them, however, someone would be watching. Watching from a nearby window in an apartment building...all with a smile on his face.

Hex: "Sweet, there they go!"

As the team drove, two shadows from a nearby alleyway began their climb up to a nearby building's rooftop.

Umi-car would continue to move, until...watermelons began to fall from the road's slope. They seem to have come from a nearby watermelon truck. The driver of said truck rushed over to Team UmiZoomi, panting like crazy.

Truck driver: "Team Umizoomi, glad you're here! I need your help to get these runaway watermelons back to my watermelon truck!"

Milli: "Don't worry, we're here to help!"

Geo: "Right, let's do this!"

Bot: "Team, we're OFF TO GET THOSE MELONS!"

And so, Bot would lead Milli and Geo as they raced down to catch up with the watermelons. Bot swung from a streetlamp while Geo was drifting with his skates, and Milli followed suit.

Bot: "Milli, Geo, I'm going to count on you two to make some super stretchy barriers out of shapes and patterns so we can stop those watermelons from hitting City Hall! Can ya do that for me?"

Both Milli and Geo: "Can do, Bot!"

Bot: "Sounds good!"

Milli and Geo then decided that it was now or never, and Milli would begin to form her patterns as a base for Geo to work with. Bot stopped at the light posts that were close by City Hall, and he decided to give the team a heads up on their Umi-Phones.

Bot: "Team, heads up, you will reach the two light posts in t-minus 30 seconds! How's the barrier going?"

Geo: "Almost done, Bot!"

Milli: "Just a little more...!"

And then...BAM!

Both Milli and Geo: "GOT IT!"

Bot: "Nice work! Now, meet me at the bottom of the road by the two lamp-posts!"

Soon enough, Milli and Geo arrived at Bot's location, where the two needed lamp-posts stood parallel to each other on either side of the road.

Bot: "Milli, you get the top left corner with your ponytails. Geo, hold the bottom left! I'll handle both on my end!"

Geo: "On it!"

Milli: "Right!"

Milli and Geo positioned themselves as Bot instructed, Milli using her ponytails to hold her corner of the net high.

Bot: "Alright...ARMS....EXTNEDO!"

As he said that, his arms extended to hold the barrier up. And right on cue...

.

.

.

.

SNATCH!

The watermelons were caught in the net! Citizens began to cheer as the team closed up the net and tied it up...especially one boy who was in the crowd.

Hex: "...Awesome..."

Bot: "Rolling Ramware! Good work, you two! Now, let's get these Watermelons back to the truck!"

And so, Bot made his way up the slope with Milli and Geo in tow...until...

???(1): "...Trouble Raaaay~!"

A voice began to boom over Umi City's streets from above. The team stopped what they were doing and looked around frantically.

Bot: "W-Wait it can't be...!?"

Milli: "...Oh no-!"

???(2): "Cause the most amount of trouble possible...AND RUIN TEAM UMIZOOMI'S DAY!

Suddenly, a purple beak of cracking electricity was fired straight at the ground...and then...KA-

BOOOOOOOOM!

Milli: "YAAAAH!"

Geo: "WHOA-"

Bot: "WHA-!"

.

.

.

.

Ears were ringing, and the team's vision was slightly disoriented. The world seemed upside down to them, and it was almost like the corners of their eyes would give out at any second.

All passerbys either ran away frantically or stood in horror...all but one.

Hex: "OH NO-!"

Hex decided instantly that this was bad enough, and rushed over to Milli, Geo, and Bot...but...something was...different.

Bot: "...Y-Yoinks-a-doinks..."

...Milli, Geo, and Bot slowly came back to their senses, tired and groggy...but...more than usual. When they did and looked around, they realized that...did the world shrink? Or, no...it can't be-...can it? Milli was the first one to speak.

Milli: "...Uh...guys...!?"

Geo: "Did w-we just..."

Bot: "...I-I think..."

And then...the two that had caused the sudden purple blast hopped down from a nearby rooftop...no doubt about it. It was them.

Little Trouble: "Hahahaha! Oh, what a lovely show of helplessness and fault to understand!"

Big Trouble: "Yep! You've just lost your title of tiniest heroes in the world, courtesy of..."

Both LT and BT: "THE...TROUBLEMAKERS!"

Hex looked over at the Troublemakers, then back at Team Umizoomi. It was clear as to why they emphasized the -tiniest- part, because...

Hex: "...Y-YOU GREW!"

A moment of stunned silence washed over the scene, with Milli, Geo, and Bot's expressions all sharing one common emotion...disbelief.

Milli: "...Wh...WHAT!?"

Geo: "Th...T-This can't be real, right?"

Bot: "...Oh no..."

Big Trouble: "Yep, yup! We figured that to give you guys a little bit less of an edge in our game of troublemaking..."

Little Trouble: "We figured, why not do the obvious, and strip away part of what makes you special!"

Hex: "Wh...why though?"

Little Trouble: "Well, simply put, it is in our name, blonde boy. Can't you see?"

Big Trouble: "We smash it, break it, tip it, and ruin it! Including Umi City's heroes!"

Hex looked on in pure disgust as he gripped his fist...but Geo spoke up towards him, despite being weak from the sudden shock.

Geo: "...D-Dude, what are you doing?"

Bot: "Get out of here, w-we'll handle them..."

...Hex looked back at the trio, then at the Troublemakers. Even IF those two were recently changed in size as well, he wouldn't let that stop him from at least trying to be a good person. All of this time, ever since the moon incident, he had always been inspired to try and do the right thing, even if it sounded impossible to do...so now, he can.

Hex: "...No. Take a step back, you guys."

Bot: "Wh...huh?"

Bot was a little taken aback by Hex's words. Milli was the next to stammer out a sentence.

Milli: "B-but you-"

Hex: "Don't have any math powers to fight 'em, right? Well..."

Hex pulled out a strange little gauntlet from his jacket...and placed it on his left hand.

Hex: "...There's more than one way to go about it, y'know."

Little Trouble: "Pfft, what is a silly little glove going to do for you, little boy?"

Hex: "You may have wanted to retract the 'little boy' part before you even said it, LT."

Hex then reached his right hand into the gauntlet's orb, in which the orb began to shine and shimmer, astonishing everyone already.

Bot: "WHA-!?"

Geo: "COOOL!"

Milli: "NO WAY...!"

Hex: "Not done yet, still got more."

Hex then pulled out from inside the orb...TWO BLASTERS!? One of them had an addition symbol on the side, the other had a subtraction symbol.

Hex: "Troublemakers, say hello to Plus and Minus."

Little Trouble: "Plus and...minus...!?"

Big Trouble: "Y-You don't mean...!?"

Hex: "Yep."

Hex began to spin both of his blasters with ease as he spoke.

Hex: "Oh yeah, by the way, call me Hex."

Bot: "Buffering Blasters...this is INCREDIBLE!"

Geo: "I'll say!"

Milli: "Whoa..."

Hex looked at Milli, Geo, and Bot before he fired at a nearby bakery truck, causing a smoke screen of flour.

Little Trouble: "WH-"

Due to the massive influx of flour, both Little Trouble and Big Trouble were coughing up a storm. Hex took this opportunity to rush over to the team.

Hex: "Are you guys ok?"

Bot: "...C-could be better."

Milli: "Y-Yeah."

Geo: "Why are we so...t-tired?"

Hex: "...Must've been from the sudden change in size. Your bodies aren't used to the lower energy levels your smaller selves had. Here, put these on. I got spares."

Hex tossed each of the members a gauntlet of their own, with their respective gauntlet sporting their color palette. They each quickly put on their gauntlets, and when it was confirmed they had them on, Hex pressed a few buttons on his respective gauntlet, with each of the other team's respective gauntlets building up into a hum.

Hex: "Now, hold onto your triple-timed digits."

After a final push, Hex, Bot, Milli, and Geo were all converted into numerical data and teleported away, and just in the nick of time, too. The smokescreen had only recently cleared, and Little Trouble and Big Trouble were scrambling, trying to find where they went...

Little Trouble: "...That Hex...we'll find him."

Big Trouble: "...And those dumb heroes, too."

...Bot's eyes slowly began to flutter open as he groaned tiredly, his eyes slowly beginning to adjust to the overhead light...but something was blocking it a bit.

???: "Oh, you are waking up! That's good!"

The face began to unblur, revealing another robot looking over the tired green robot.

Strange robot: "You have been out for quite a while, Bot."

Bot: "YAHA-"

Bot jolted up in a little fear and backed up slightly from where he was resting, a little shocked, which in turn began to wake up Milli and Geo.

Milli: "Ugh...my head..."

Geo: "Five more minutes-...wh..."

Bot turned to see Milli and Geo waking up, and a sigh of relief escaped his mouth as he hopped off the couch he was resting on, falling into a tired stumble and hugging both Milli and Geo.

Bot: "Milli! Geo! Thank goodness you both are ok..."

Bot exclaimed, his voice a mix of relief and exhaustion.

Milli: "Y-yeah, we're ok, Bot!"

Geo: "No need to worry about us."

Strange robot: "I apologize for the scare, Bot. I must not have made a good second impression."

Bot turned to the robot when they spoke, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

Bot: "Second impression? What do you mea..."

Bot's gears began to turn, putting the pieces together...that monitor head, the wheel feet, those silly antennae...there was no doubt about it—someone, or somebot that he knew long ago... unmistakably recognizable in his eyes.

Bot: "...Cole...!?"

Cole: "...Eheh...in the tin-metal."

Bot: "...COLE!"

Bot rushed over in a tired stumble and gave the tightest hug he could give him, laughing and spinning all the way. Cole joined in the laughter while Milli and Geo just exchanged looks of exhausted confusion

Bot: "I-ITS YOU, ITS REALLY YOU! I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU IN FOREVER!"

Cole: "E-Eheh, it's good to see you too, Bot!"

Milli: "...Uh...do you know who he is, Geo?"

Geo: "Nah, your guess is as good as mine, sis."

Cole and Bot stopped spinning and turned to face Milli and Geo, both showing joyful expressions on their faces.

Bot: "G-Guys, this is Cole, one of my bestest friends!"

Cole: "Correct, we used to talk to each other all the time, but we slowly distanced over the years. It's a pleasure to meet both of you in person, Milli and Geo."

Cole patted Bot's back as he spoke.

Cole: "Bot used to talk about you both when you were younger."

Geo: "Whoa...so you and Bot were old friends?" Geo said, his eyes turning into stars out of pure excitement.

Milli: "You two must've gotten along well then!"

Bot: "Y-yeah, but what are you doing here? Where IS here anyway? W-What happened to us!?"

Hex: "To answer the first question, they were watching over you guys while you were conked out."

Hex's voice spoke from the opposite side of the giant room. He was getting himself some ice water from the kitchen. He briefly took off his mask for a second to sip it down and placed the cup on the main counter.

Hex: "That, and Kelsey helped Cole out a bit. And where are you right now? Well...my home."

Hex spread his arms out, gesturing to his home. The walls were filled with patterns of hexagons and pentagons, and there were some icons of bits and screws. The kitchen that Hex was in was colored yellow and white, with a complete stove and oven, microwave, fridge, and freezer. The couch that Bot and the others were resting on was colored a scarlet red and in an L shape. There was a little coffee table at each end, with a lamp on each table. Each lamp was shaped like a screw-in lightbulb. The team took their time looking around the cozy space, until Milli spoke up.

Milli: "...Home? Kelsey? W-Wait, hold on. Who-"

Kelsey: "BOO! Behind ya!"

Kelsey popped out from behind Milli, startling her, and leaving Kelsey giggling like a little gremlin.

Milli: "EEP-"

Kelsey: "Pffft, Gotcha good!"

The girl who spooked Milli, Kelsey, wiped away a tear from her eye as she continued giggling.

Milli: "So...you're Kelsey, r-right?"

Milli asked, still a bit spooked. Kelsey calmed down after a few seconds and answered casually.

Kelsey: "Yep, that's me alright."

Hex: "Heheh, c'mon, Kelsey. They just woke up, give them a sec."

Hex chimed in from the kitchen. Kelsey chuckled as she spoke.

Kelsey: "Right, right."

The blonde-haired boy then made his way to meet up with the rest of the group, adjusting his face mask as he spoke.

Hex: "And as for the third question...it should be obvious."

Hex gestured to Milli, Geo, and Bot.

Hex: "You guys grew in size, see?"

.

.

.

.

.

Milli was the first one to speak up.

Milli: "WHAT!?"

Geo: "Well...that explains why we're so...yaaaaawwwwn, tired..."

Bot: "Wait, wait...back it up a bit. Who are you?"

Hex: "Oh, right. I don't really think we've had a chance to introduce ourselves properly, yeah?"

Once he arrived, he ruffled the side of his hair.

Hex: "I'm Hex, Hex Myta. These two nutjobs? They're some of my friends."

Hex pointed to both Kelsey and Cole, respectively, silently picking out the order in which they would be introduced. Kelsey had her hands behind her head before she responded to Hex's introduction.

Kelsey: "Kelsey Mangrove, nothin' too major about me. Known Hex for a while."

After she was finished, Kelsey nodded towards Cole, signalling him to go next. He stammered for a second before clearing his throat.

Cole: "O-Oh, greetings! I am Cole, but some of you already know who I am. Bot and I have been friends for as long as I can remember, but sadly, we grew distant."

There was a tinge of sadness in the way Cole spoke. But he snapped out of it and continued his introduction.

Cole: "But it is good that we are together again. Kelsey and Hex are two of my closest friends, so it feels good to know that we aren't alone in this."

Hex: "Kelsey and I are also huge fans of you guys, y'know?"

Milli, Geo, and Bot all looked a little surprised at that last comment.

Geo: "Fans? Cool!"

Milli: "Waiiiit...why did you save us, though?"

Milli seemed just a hair skeptical towards Hex's gesture of saving the three of them.

Hex: "Well...mainly because it was the right thing to do, yeah?"

Milli: "...Hmmm...well, I think it was a pretty good save, Hex."

Milli let go of her skepticism and complimented Hex's rescue.

Geo: "Yeah! The way you pulled your weapons out of that gauntlet thingy? THAT WAS AWESOME!"

Bot: "Geo, calm down, buddy! This ol' bot also woke up, too!"

Bot stood up and stretched, grunting slightly as he spoke.

Hex: "Yeah, and you can do what I just did with your own weapons too."

Geo: "...No way. You mean I can do it with my SHAPE SPLITTER!?"

Milli: "But...me and Bot don't have weapons."

Bot: "Yeah, and Geo's shape splitter isn't really a-"

Cole: "Oh, I do believe that it is possible with some help. Hex is a masterful inventor, so making some new gear for you should not be an issue for him, including the same technology that he used to save you three."

Milli, Geo, and Bot's expressions went from dull to excited in a matter of seconds after hearing those words come out of Hex's mouth.

Milli: "You will!? Umi-rific!"

Bot: "ALRIGHT!"

Geo: "Can you upgrade my shape splitter too!? Pleaaaaaase!?"

Geo rushed over to Hex as he asked that, his face showing nothing but pure astonishment.

Hex: "W-Whoa, whoa. One at a time, guys! But don't worry, I'll be sure to have those in soon. But first...I need to tell you about something."

The team exchanged looks of confusion and worry.

Bot: "Tell us...what?"

Kelsey: "It's about the troublemakers, and why they're doing what they're doing now."

Kelsey's voice began to get a little more serious as Hex made his way to the little homomorphic projector table in the middle of the living room, where Milli, Geo, and Bot woke up. He presses a button on the table, showing the Troublemakers in a holographic projection.

Hex:"...So, long story short, the Troublemakers are...stronger, for lack of a better term. Not exactly sure how, but...their troublemaking tendencies are getting worse."

Bot: "...Y-Yoinks-a-doinks..."

Hex: "It...doesn't get better from there. While you guys were out, I was doing research as to how they ended up managing to increase your size so suddenly, despite not doing it before in previous encounters...and I came to only one conclusion."

Hex began to rapidly type on the keyboard on the table. When he pressed enter, it showed the symbols of the team's math powers. Patterns, Shapes, and Numbers.

Hex: "...They somehow managed to gain Math Powers for themselves."

The patterns, shapes, and numbers all began to turn purple and orange as the holographic troublemakers held them in their grasp, cackling. Milli, Geo, and Bot all shared looks of shock, worry, and fear.

Milli: "...Wh...W-What...!?"

Geo: "There's...T-That can't be right!"

Hex: "Sorry, but...that's the only logical explanation...I'm guessing that this happened after that incident two years ago, during the moon split incident."

Cole: "That is the most likely scenario. Because of this newfound knowledge, the Troublemakers have become virtually unstoppable."

Bot: "...Troubling Terabytes..."

Kelsey: "There is a chance, guys. Use your ears."

Hex: "Kelsey, c'mon. Cut them some slack. But...yeah."

Hex began to type once again on his keyboard, pressing enter to reveal a hologram of the gauntlet, to which Bot pointed it out.

Bot: "Wait, that's the gauntlets, right?"

Hex: "Yeah. Specifically, the orb on this specific gauntlet. I call it a Multi-orb...still working on a better name."

Kelsey: "These babies can do a lot for ya."

Cole: "Specifically, they can act like a metaphorical hammerspace, allowing the wearer to store their weapon within the orb itself."

Hex pressed another button on the table, revealing the trouble-ray that each Troublemaker uses.

Hex: "You know these things, right? The Trouble Rays?"

Geo: "Yep, but what does that have to do with what were talking about?"

Hex: "I believe that the troublemakers may have gained their mathematical abilities from a specific source. I'm not entirely sure what that source is, but I think that if we disconnect them from it, we can stop them from causing any more trouble."

Milli: "And everything can go back to normal, right?"

Cole: "That's...the plan, but we will need your help. Will you help us stop the troublemakers before they wreak havoc across Umi City?"

Milli, Geo, and Bot were taken aback by how Hex asked them for help. Usually, they'd ask Umi-friend for help, but it did feel kind of weird to be on the receiving end. Each of them looked at the other with a blank expression before nodding and turning back to Hex and his two friends.

Bot: "...We will."

Geo: "Right!"

Milli: "You can count on us!"

Cole, Kelsey, and Hex's faces all lit up at the team's responses.

Cole: "Perfect!"

Kelsey: "AHALRIGHT!"

Hex: "...Alright, let's get to work, you guys!"

Hex placed his fist in the middle of the six of them. Bot joined in next, followed by Geo, then Kelsey, then Cole, and finally Milli.

Hex: "Team Umizoomi...!"

Then, they shout in unison...

"IT'S TIME FOR ACTION!"

Cut to: Troublemaker's Hideout.

...Little Trouble and Big Trouble were looking at...something. Something bubbly. Those bubbly things swirling with...power?

Little Trouble: "...It would seem as though Team Umizoomi could have an edge on us, no?"

Big Trouble: "As much as I hate to admit it...yeah."

Little Trouble then began to approach the bubbly things. Upon closer inspection, they seemed to be large jars connected by two tubes that led into a giant generator.

Little Trouble: "...Seems like we will need to...' even out our odds ', hmm?"

Little Trouble looked dead center at Big Trouble with a sinister grin.

Little Trouble: "...Send out the message. It is time...for operation Major Trouble."

Notes:

What do YOU guys think is powering the Troublemakers' Trouble Ray with the information Hex has given out? HOW does Hex know all of this? I'd love to hear your theories below.
