Work Text:

Lloyd pov
'Why did I need to come along?' Asks Kai next to me, looking at Harumi in the back suspiciously. I sigh and say:' You were the one who wanted to come along because you didn't trust her with me alone!' I hear Kai becoming annoyed so he looks to the front, focusing on the road. Then I also look back at the road again, shit! I missed the exit to the monastery. I look in my mirrors to see no one coming on this terrible path next to a ravine, but then I hear Harumi saying:' Don't blame this on Lloyd, Kai, he is just trying to help me build a new life for myself.'

I feel Kai burning with rage next to me and he screams:' How could you possibly think you deserve a new life after all you've done, bitch!' Now Harumi is also getting angry and she screams:' You unworthy hothead! How could you possibly think you could be the green ninja, mouthbreather!' Kai looks at Harumi and screams back, slowly I'm losing my cool:' One, I don't smell bad out of my mouth, two, that is none of your business....' But I disrupt him by stopping the car and screaming:' Stop! You guys shut up for a second please, it's so annoying!'

They both look to the other side and breath in deeply and look at the road to see a truck meeting us head-on. I stopped the car on the wrong road. I try to make the car move but I am too late, the truck honks before hitting us with full power.

I hear her screaming before my head hits the chair, hard. I fear the glass breaking and some warm stuff flooding on my body, then the car starts moving and I see that the truck tried to go around us and is now pushing us to the ravine. I scream when I stare into the nothingness.

But stones already loosen and the car loses from the road and falls into the ravine. Hitting trees, stones. My head hits the roof, hard and because of the hit before, this is too much for my head and black spots appear on my sight, my ears stop hearing anything and then I lose all feeling. Everything becomes silent and black.

Kai pov
I scream all the air out of my lungs until the car stops moving. We lay silent, the car destroyed and so are we. I try to move but the pain comes. First, my leg is stuck under the dashboard, which has collapsed because of the crash. I cannot move it; it is stuck. Then my arms, I try to reach the seatbelt to make it easier for myself to move, but when I look to the left, I see Lloyd.

There is a circle in the glass in front of him, the glass spread over his body. Blood is flooding onto the floor; his eyes are closed but his head... Head wounds are never good. "Lloyd?" I hear someone asking behind and roll my eyes, even in this bad situation I still have less.

"No, it's Kai. Lloyd is unconscious," I hear her cough and then she asks weakly: "Is he dead?" I roll my eyes again and then move my body, making my leg hurt, to look at Harumi. "What do you... oh my first Spinjitzu master."

Harumi is sitting against the left door, a tree pierced into her chest, blood everywhere, her whole body stands under the tree. She smiles painfully and says: "I know Kai, just leave me but please, bring Lloyd to safety. He deserves it more than me." My mouth is still open and then I look at Lloyd's unconscious form, what would he do? I remember the way Lloyd looks at her just like.....

Like how I look at Skylor, he loves her, even for all she has done... "No!" I say confidently and begin to try and get my leg free. After some painful screams, it is free. "What do you mean no?" Harumi acts coughing and weak. I say back, trying to open my door, "I'm not going to leave you. Lloyd loves you, and I need to respect that so he can be happy in his life finally."

The door isn't opening, so I begin to crawl onto the tree stuck in Hawai. Harumi is crying. I crawl in front of her and grab something from a pocket in the chair, a knife. "Alright, this is going to hurt, but please, try to stay conscious." She nods, panicking, and then I begin to cut the tree. Luckily, it isn't that big, so I am easily done. "Okay, now I will need to get those branches out of you." Harumi nods and says bravely, "Pull them out, I can take it." I close my eyes for a second, pushing through the pain in my leg, and say, "Okay, I hope this works, Harumi." I grab the first branch and pull it out as hard as I can.

Harumi screams in pain while I throw the bloody branch through one of the broken windows and focus on the next branch. Harumi clenches her teeth and then screams when I pull out the other branch of the fire. She starts to lose consciousness, so I give her a piece of my torn clothing that she can push on her wounds. The rest of the branches go the same as the others.

After the last one, I collapse onto the chair and breathe heavily. We're not done yet. I stand up and grab a clean blanket and bend it around her chest, covering all her wounds. "Thank you," Harumi says before sitting up and ordering, "Now let me see your leg." I laugh and turn around so she sees my leg. She grabs a piece of her still clean clothing and tends it around my leg. "Thank you, Harumi."

I never thought I would thank her for something after everything that happened. When bad things happen, it brings people together. Maybe it is true after all. Then we feel the car shift; it is going to fall again! Branches holding the car in its place snap in seconds, and the first thing we think is, we need to get out of the car. "Lloyd! We can't leave him!" Harumi screams and then I push her through the broken window out of the car and say: "Sorry, but I will get Lloyd. Stay here!"

I hear her screaming in fear for us but I ignore it and crawl to Lloyd. He is still in his chair, still unconscious. "Lloyd, please wake up—I need your help." He doesn't wake up so I pull off his seat belt and he flinches in pain. I see his eyes open and he says weakly: "Huh?"

I grab him by his arms and say "Yes, it's me, Bud, we don't have a lot of time right now." I pull him onto my back, hurting my leg in the process but I push through it and crawl onto the chairs in the back. Harumi screams and then I hear more snaps of branches and I know that we are too late. The car already begins to fall, I grab Lloyd close and see Harumi disappearing between the trees.

A tear falls on my belly and then I turn to Lloyd, he looks around him in fear and then at me. "Bud, I love you," I say, crying and realizing the importance of this moment. Lloyd says, also crying and understanding: "I love you too, big bro."

We hug and close our eyes when the car begins to hit stone, more trees and at last, we hit the ground.

Harumi pov
I stare to the front of the white walls all around me. I feel and hear people entering the room I've been for so long already. My brain goes back to the moment I saw them disappear.

"His accepting eyes"

'The cracks of the branches'

'the car falling in front of me, with the love of my life and my friend... '

"Sirens being heard"

'Someone picking me up'

I open my eyes again and stare into two yellow eyes from a man with a beard. "And?" I ask and behind him are standing Cole, looking down, Zane, eyes no emotion but then, Nya and Jay, hugging each other and crying.

'They have been found dead, both necks broken' I look down and let the tears flow, I scream through the whole hospital: "No!" I collapse on the bed and before I know it, I am alone again. But when I look better, I see a woman with grey hair sitting on a chair, I remember her.

'Misako? I ask and she looks up, she is Lloyd's mother. "Harumi" She says and falls silent again, then I
Say: 'I'm sorry,' she looks up and comes closer. She asks: 'Why are you sorry?' I begin to cry and almost scream: 'I couldn't save them, I saw them die and didn't do anything.' Misako hugs me, I hug her back, I don't care anymore.

"It isn't your fault, Harumi, it was an accident." I cry even harder and say: "A deadly accident where I was the only one coming out alive." Misako looks me in the eyes and says: "No one is going to blame you, I will make sure of that." She wants to walk out of the room but then I ask: "Why do you trust me?" She turns around, I see a tear falling on the ground from her face, and she says: "Because my son trusted you."

Then she walks out of the room, leaving me crying. That hurt, he is dead. He is dead, Harumi! Just accept it! No one is ever going to call you Rumi again, or kiss you! No one... All alone... Again.

Tears fall onto the white blankets, how am I ever going to live normally after this?! Then I see something, red and green particles. I get out of bed and see the green and red particles flying up into the sky.
I smile and put my hands on my heart. I close my eyes and feel the warmth from them. "Thank you," I whisper thankful and then I look at the sun going down into the sea.

I will never forget you.
