Work Text:
It was a bright day in Brisbane. At the Heeler residence Mackenzie was watching television with green apple juice in one hand. As his eyes focused on the TV, a small little pup slowly raised his head up beside his dad, with his eyes narrowed at him mischievously.
Tux: Dad...Dad...Dad...Dad-
Mackenzie: What is it, Tux?
Tux: Well, I was wondering if something.
Mackenzie: What?
Tux:...Can I have a pet?
Mackenzie raised his eyebrow and looked down at his son, who raised his head up and made a goofy smile.
Mackenzie: No, Tux. We've talked about this before.
Tux: Aw! Why not!
Mackenzie: You know why, Tux! It's a big responsibility and me and Bluey think 3 kids is enough.
Tux: Dad, Please!
Mackenzie: No.
Tux: Hmph.
Tux pouted as he folded his arms and slid against the side of the couch, sitting on his bottom. Mackenzie looked over the couch arm and saw his son, making a half frown. Tux had been asking for a pet for as long as he and Bluey could remember, but they always told him no because it would be a big responsibility. And besides, him and Bluey would be doing most of the work.
Mackenzie: Son, how about you go play outside. It's bright out today.
Tux: Why don't you go play outside?
Mackenzie: Because I'm in the middle of a watching a game of cricket with apple juice in one hand. (Mackenzie turned back to the tv) You call that a hit?!
Tux just grumbled and got up on his feet, walking away. Tux walked through the house to the play room where the sun gazed it's light in. There on the edge of the doors was his toy space ship. So Tux walked over and picked up, before he dashed outside with the hovering over his head in his arms. Tux ran around the backyard, making flying noises with his toy.
Tux: Watch out! They're behind us! Wee!
Tux ran over to the side of the house, past the end of his porch.
Shuffling noise*
Tux: Huh?
Tux stopped running, and looked down and left where the noise came from. There he saw the hole, leading under the porch. Tux slowly crouched down onto his knees and put down the toy spaceship before he peeked in the hole. And he saw nothing.
Tux: Hello? Is there someone there? Hello?
Normally a child would tell their parents, but for Tux, no. He looked left to check his parents or anyone weren't watching, and he slowly crawled through the hole. Now under the porch, the only light Tux had was the daylight piercing through the fence designed walls. Tux looked all around under the porch, but didn't see anyone else under there. But Tux didn't mind, he was now excited!
Tux: Wow! This would make a great hiding place!
Tux looked around the crawl space and his eyes caught something on one of the stone pillars, in the corner of the crawl space. Tux crawled over to the stone pillar and looked closely. He saw what looked like drawings made from chalk, but it was very fainted. Like it was made from years ago.
Tux: I wonder who made this?
Chatter*
Tux: *Gasp!*
Tux gasped and turned around to look in the back of the crawl space. He had definitely heard something. Tux looked from where he sat, and suddenly spotted a pair of eyes looking right at him. Tux didn't move. He just watched as the pair of eyes didn't move. But suddenly they began to move, towards him! As the eyes grew closer, Tux saw the outline of an animal appearing. Tux slumped against the fence walls and the creature came into the sunlight and Tux saw...The most adorable animal ever!
Tux: *Gasp!* AWW! WALL BEE! (Wallaby)
That's right. A Wallaby. A common and native animal of Australia. It had gray fur, small ears, a short tail, and cute brown eyes. The Wallaby slowly approached Tux, who now felt relaxed and slowly crawled up to the critter. The Wallaby just looked at Tux, moving it's nose up to him and giving him a few sniffs that made Tux giggle.
Tux: You're so cute! How did you get here?
Tux smiled and he reached his hand out to the Wallaby, gently touching it's ear before it reacted. The Wallaby looked back at Tux from the touch and shook it's head so Tux let go. But he didn't mind. But the Wallaby however didn't scurry away, it just stood near Tux like it liked him. Tux then reached he's hand out again and this time the Wallaby gave it a sniff, before it began licking it.
Tux: Hehe. That tickles.
Tux smiled as he lowered his hand away and wiped the saliva off.
Tux: You're such a good Wall bee. Good boy.
Just then Tux's eyes lit up. Good boy. He said it like the Wallaby was almost like a pet. Pet. That word came to Tux's mind. He looked at the Wallaby's face and it reminded him of a hamster's face. His parents wouldn't let him keep him. But that wouldn't stop Tux! No! He's gonna keep the Wallaby
Tux: Hey, how would you like to be my pet.
The Wallaby only tilted it's head.
Tux: You're my new pet now. So what should I name you?...I know! Wally! Like Wall Bee! Come on, Wally! Let's go to my room!
Tux happily crawled towards the exit and crawled out. Getting on his feet he turned back to the hole.
Tux: Come on Wally! Let's go!...Wally?
Tux bent down and looked in the hole to see Wally still down there. He wasn't coming out. Tux stood back and tried calling his name again, but it didn't work. Maybe he could lure the Wallaby out with something. Tux looked around and spotted some leaves on the ground by the big tree. He got an idea! Tux learned in school that Wallabies ate plants. So he rushed over and grabbed a leaf, then rushed back to the hole and got on his knees, waving the leaf in front of the hole. After a few seconds the Wallaby finally poked it's head out and sniffed the leaf. It tried to take a bite but Tux moved it away and got up on his feet, waving the leaf more.
Tux started to walk backwards and continued waving the leaf. The Wallaby then finally emerged from the hole slowly and started to follow Tux, hopping while doing it that made Tux giggle again. Wally is gonna be a sweet and cute pet. Tux led Wally up to the porch after he looked up to check nobody was there and up the steps into the playroom. Wally was now in Tux's house! Tux moved to the doorway to check the hallway, and continued when the close was clear. Tux was to lure Wally throughout the house, checking in every room and peeking around all corners, until finally he reached up the stairs, down the hall, and finally reached his room. He led Wally into his room and quickly closed the door before anyone could see.
Tux: YES! I did it!
Tux hopped and cheered with his fists in the air and turned back to Wally. He was looking around his new surroundings. Tux approached and held out the leaf for Wally, who sniffled it and took a bite out of it. After a few munches all the leaf was in it's belly.
Tux: Good Wally! I now have a pet!
But then suddenly, Tux heard what sounded like footsteps coming down the hall, to his room! Tux gasped in horror and began to look around where he could hide his new friend. Tux saw a blanket next to his bed. He grabbed it and covered it over Wally who had no idea what was happening and shoving him to a pile of stuffed animals next to the bed frame. Just then the door opened, and Tux's mother, Bluey entered the room.
Bluey: Tux?
Tux: Yes mum?!
She looked down at Tux and saw him standing there nervously
Bluey: Are you okay?
Tux: Yes!
Bluey: Alright. Well, I wanted to ask, I was thinking of making either spaghetti or lasagna for dinner.
Tux: Lasagna!
Bluey: Alright. Love you.
Bluey then closed the door, leaving Tux alone and letting sigh in relief. He went to his stuffed animal pile and pulled the blanket off Wally, where he saw him nibbling on the top of his stuffed giraffe Louie!
Tux: Wally no!
Tux grabbed Louie from Wally's mouth and threw him on the bed. Tux then turned back to Wally and grabbed him, pulling him out of the pile.
Tux: You can't chew my friends!
Tux put Wally down and gently brushed against his back, which made Wally make that same friendly sound again.
Tux: Those are my stuffed animals! You can't chew them, okay?
But Wally only looked at Tux for a moment before he looked back at the stuffed animals. Suddenly he tried to jump to them, but Tux grabbed Wally before he could reach them.
Tux: No! Wally! Don't eat them!
Wally began to shake and move a little in Tux's arms, but the small little pup kept hanging on to the Wallaby. Tux was able to pull Wally away from the pile until finally he stopped struggling. Tux finally let go of Wally and cupped his cheeks to look at him.
Tux: Don't chew them. No chewing.
Wally open his mouth and took a bite of thin air, before looking back at Tux. The young pup's eyes lit up and figured something.
Tux: Ohhhhh! I get it! you're hungry! I'll get some leaves!
Tux left his room and ran all the way through the house. Down the hall, stairs, another hall, and reached the back to grab some more leaves. Then he rushed back through the house and back to his room.
Tux: Here you go...Wally?
The leaves fell out of the pup's paws when he saw Wally nowhere to be seen.
Tux: Wally?! Wally where did you go?
Tux carefully looked around his room but didn't find him anywhere. But when Tux looked bakc at his door, he realized that he left it open.
Tux: Uh oh!
Tux carefully left his room and looked down the hallway to see where Wally went. Tux looked at the end of the hall where he saw the bathroom door slightly opened and the tail of a small animal sticking out.
Tux: Wally!
Tux rushed over to the bathroom and opened the door, startling the Wallaby a little.
Tux: Come on, Wally!
Tux grabbed Wally again and began dragging him across the hallway, back to his room. Wally surprisingly didn't fight back. He just allowed himself to be dragged by Tux. They reached his room and Tux closes the door behind him, turning back to Wally who was sniffing down the leaves he brought up.
Tux: Sorry, Wally. I didn't close the door. Now eat up.
Tux got on his knees and held up a leaf to Wally, who ate it in just in bite.
Tux: Good boy, Wally.
Tux began to stroke Wally's head as he lowered his head to eat the leaves on the ground. Wally ate all the leaves and raised his head back up at Tux, who smiled.
Tux: There. I hope they were delicious.
Wally looked away from Tux and at the small rug in the middle of his room. He moved from Tux and to the rug, where he just got off his feet and laid down on his belly. Tux watched as Wally made himself home and snorted gleefully and walked over, sitting down next to him.
Tux: Awww. I love you, Wally.
Tux slowly pet Wally's neck that made him make a quiet animal critter noise.
Robby: Hey, Tux. What-
Tux turned to the door in fear and Wally raised his head up at Robby as he looked at the small animal laying in Tux's room. It took Robby a few seconds before he realized the animal was REAL!
Robby: What in the?!
Tux: Robby! No!
Tux got up and waved his hands in a panic.
Tux: Close the door!
Robby just did what Tux said to in confusion, before
Robby: Tux! What is that?
Tux: Uhhh...A toy?
Robby just narrowed his eyes and folded his arms, not falling for Tux's lie.
Tux: *Sigh* A wall bee.
Robby: You mean Wallaby? Tux where did you find him?!
Tux: Under the porch.
Robby: Under the porch?! Where did he come from?
Tux just shrugged his shoulders.
Robby: Well...Tux...
Robby just looked at the Wallaby behind Tux and saw him looking at him before it got up on it's feet, doing a small shake.
Robby: Why did you bring him inside?!
Tux: Because he's my new pet!
Robby: What?! No!
Suddenly Wally hopped up onto his feet, went past Tux and up to Robby. He stopped in front of Robby and looked up at him with those big eyes.
Robby: Uh. Hi?
Robby just stood there in front of Wally, before it then hopped to the door behind
Tux: What is he doing?
Robby: I think he wants to get out of your room.
Tux: But he can't leave! Mum and Dad will see him!
Robby: Tux, he needs to go back outside! He doesn't belong here.
Tux: Robby! Please! He's my friend! I don't wanna get rid of him! Please don’t tell mom and dad!
Robby: Ah, Tux.
Tux: Please?!
Robby whimpered nervously, unsure how to handle this, but Tux held his hands and the most saddest eyes ever, making tiny whimpers. Curses! Who taught him the sad puppy eyes trick?! Robby was distracted by Tux's eyes when suddenly they heard the sound of the door creaking open. Both brothers looked saw Wally hopping out of the room and into the hall! Robby didn't shut the door all the way!
Robby: Wait! No!
Tux: Wally!
Tux and Robby rushed out of the room and followed Wally to the next room across from Tux's. Ally's room! Wally pushed the door open with his head, with the door not shut, and busted in. Ally was in there on the floor, in the middle of painting something and had a sheet under the painting and supplies around her. But when Wally burst into the room, Ally jolted in surprise.
Ally: Ah! What the?!
Ally looked over and saw the Wallaby hopping over to her. She shrieked and stood up on her feet as Wally hopped over her painting and supplies, knocking over some paint and the jar of colored water as Tux and Robby entered the room.
Tux: Wally! No!
Robby quickly rushed past Tux and grabbed Wally with both arms around his waist, stopping him.
Robby: Got him.
Robby looked back at Ally as she looked back at him for a moment before looking down at the mess he made.
Ally: No! Look what he's done!
Robby: Sorry about that!
Ally: Is that a wallaby?!
Wally looked at Ally in Robby's arms and she saw his cute little animal eyes.
Ally: Where did he come from?!
Robby: Ask Tux.
Ally's eyes widened and she looked at her little brother, who was smiling nervously and began fidgeting his fingers. But before Ally could ask him they suddenly heard footsteps coming down the hall. They all froze in terror and Robby looked around the room for a hiding place. He saw the wardrobe in the back and rushed over with Wally, opened the doors, placed Wally inside right, and closed the door right before the door opened and their father poked his head in.
Mackenzie: Kids? I heard a shriek! Is everything okay?
All the kids looked up at their father while Robby placed his hand on the wardrobe to keep Wally inside.
Ally: Uh, yeah, everything is fine. Robby and Tux just scared me.
Robby: Yeah, we snuck up behind her and yelled Boo!
Mackenzie: Oh.
Mackenzie looked at his kids, and Tux who was making a large smile. But then his eyes caught the attention of the mess next to Ally of water and some paint spilled.
Mackenzie: Aw, nuts. Look at that mess!
Ally: It's okay, Dad! We'll clean it up! Really!
Mackenzie: You better. And before bedtime.
Mackenzie then finally closed the door and left. Tux, Ally, and Robby all let out huge sighs of relief before Ally looked at Tux with a annoyed expression.
Ally: You brought a wallaby into our house?!
Tux: Uh, yes? Teehee?
Ally: Where did you find him?!
Tux: Under the porch outside?
Ally: What?
Robby: That's what he said.
Robby walked away from the wardrobe and to his siblings.
Ally: Why did you bring him in?!
Tux: Because he's my new pet! I named him Wally!
Ally: Oh, brother.
Ally put her paw on her face and shook her head.
Ally: Tux, we need to let him go.
Tux: What?! No!
Robby: Yes! He belongs outside in the wild.
Tux: But he's my new pet!
Ally: You'll get into trouble!
Tux: But we'll keep him a secret!
Robby: I don't think it would last long.
Tux: But! We-
*Slam!* *Scurrying noises!*
The 3 siblings' eyes widened and looked back at the wardrobe and it opened! Wally had escaped! They looked down and saw some red footprints, from the paint he stepped on, and saw it leading out of the room!
Robby and Tux: WALLY!
Ally: Wally?
Robby: Yeah, that's what Tux named him.
Tux: Let's go!
Tux, Robby, and Ally all ran out of the room and down the hallway, following the trail of red footprints Wally was leaving behind. They followed them to the stairs, which made Tux worry that his parents could see him! They rushed down the stairs and saw the footprints leading down to the Laundry room! The Border-Heeler siblings ran down the hall into the laundry room. When they entered they looked around for Wally, and saw his tail poking out of a cabinet. They rushed over and Robby opened the door, where Wally looked behind them and saw them.
Ally: Gotcha!
Bluey: Kids?
Robby immediately shoved Wally's tail inside the cabinet and slammed it shut, before they all turned to their mother, who was standing at the doorway with her hands on her hips.
Robby: Yes mum?
Bluey: Which one of you has been tracking red footprints in the house?!
Robby and Ally and Tux: Wasn't us!
Robby, Ally, and Tux all smiled nervously with their arms behind their backs and Bluey raised her eyebrow at them. The kids just stood there, trying to remain inconspicuous, until Bluey just huffed out of her nose and just walked over to the nearby shelf, grabbing a spray bottle and a cloth, before she left the laundry room. But not before giving her kids a glare. When she was gone the kids turned back to the cabinet and opened. But Wally wasn't there.'
Robby: Where'd he go?!
They looked inside the connected cabinet row and saw the far one at the end opened, where he must've climbed out! They rushed to the open cabinet, where they saw more of Wally's red footprints. But before they went after Wally, Tux peeked in the cabinet Wally climbed out of and saw something behind a small box. He poked himself in and moved the box, gasping in surprise. It was their Chattermax toy!
Tux: Hey! It's our Chattermax cousin Almond got us! I thought mum and dad said they couldn't find it.
Robby: Forget! We need to find Wally!
Tux, Ally, and Robby all rushed out of the laundry room and followed the next trail of red footprints down the hall. They followed them all the way to kitchen. When they entered they didn't see Wally anywhere. Instead they just saw their father at the sink, who looked over at his kids when he heard them enter.
Mackenzie: Oh. Hey kids. How's it going?
Robby: Uh, fine Dad.
The kids just all smiled, trying not look suspicious.
Mackenzie: What? Is something the matter?
Robby: No, no, we're fine.
Mackenzie: Okay. Well, rid you clean up the paint spill upstairs?
Ally: No. Not yet.
Mackenzie: Well, you better get to that then.
Bluey: And the hallways too!
Everyone looked up and saw Bluey enter the kitchen with a stern expression.
Mackenzie: Hey Hon. What do you mean?
Bluey: Well, someone is tracking red footprints through the halls.
Mackenzie: Kids, do you know anything about that?
The kids just continued to smile and shrugged their shoulders, but now nervous. Bluey and Mackenzie both looked at their children with their eyebrows raised and folded their arms. Now they knew something was up and Robby, Ally, and Tux cannot keep going. But suddenly everyone the sound of moving. They looked and saw the sound was coming from the cabinet underneath the sink.
Mackenzie: Huh?
Tux: Wait!
Tux quickly rushed over to the sink cabinet and pressed himself against the cabinet doors, stopping Mackenzie who was taken back. Tux looked up at his family and looked at him concerned. He had to make up an excuse.
Tux: Uhhhh. I think I scraped my elbow. Yeah! Look! See!
Mackenzie crouched down on one knee at his son and looked at his elbow as he held it out, but didn't see any harm.
Mackenize: I don't see a scratch, son. I think you're fine.
Tux: But daddy! I-
Mackenzie: Hold on!
Mackenzie gently moved Tux aside from the cabinet and opened it. Tux covered his eyes
Mackenzie: Oh. Nothing.
CRASH!*
Just then the other cabinet door under the sink bust opened out hopped Wally! Everyone shrieked in surprise as the Wallaby hopped past Tux and towards the exit. Bluey stepped back as Wally hopped past her and into the living room.
Bluey: What in the world?!
Tux: NO!
Tux rushed past his mum and into the living room after Wally. Robby and Ally followed too, and of course Bluey and Mackenzie. Tux ran to Wally as he hopped to the couch and around it, but Robby rushed over to the other side to corner Wally. But instead he jumped onto the couch and over, hopping to the sun room. Bluey and Ally rushed after Wally into the sun room and Bluey saw him crawling behind a chair. Bluey moved the chair open and Ally attempt to grab him, but he escaped, hopping past bluey and out of the Sun room. Wally hopped back into the living room and Mackenzie tried to grab him, but failed again.
Wally hopped back into the kitchen and past the counter to the table. Robby and Tux had already rushed into the kitchen after Wally. Wally hoped around the table and Robby and Tux attempt to pull the same tatic as before and went around both sides of the table, where they cornered Wally. But Wally saw under the table and hopped under. Robby and Tux groaned in defeat as Wally hopped back to the counter, where suddenly Mackenzie appeared from behind the counter and scooped up Wally in his arms, finally catching him!
Mackenzie cheered and lift up Wally in his arms and Robby and Tux cheered too. Bluey and Ally rushed into the kitchen and saw Mackenzie holding the Wallaby in his arms.
Bluey: Mackenzie! you got it!
Mackenzie: Yeah...
Mackenzie turned back down to the Wallaby in his arms, expecting there to be some struggling and squirming from him. But instead the Wallaby was not moving. It just rested and looked up at Bluey and Mackenzie, making them surprised.
Mackenzie: Oh. He's not struggling.
Bluey: Oh, yeah. He looks very relaxed in your arms.
Mackenzie: Maybe he's been picked up before and he's used to it.
Tux: You got him! You got Wally!
At that moment Tux realized he made a big mistake saying that when Bluey and Mackenzie raised their eyes when they heard Tux say that, and turned to look at him.
Bluey and Mackenzie: Wally?
Tux squirmed as his parents casted their attention to him. He didn’t speak or move, but his parents looked at him before they looked back at each other, now realizing the truth. And turned back to Tux a little stern.
Mackenzie: Tux. Did you bring this Wallaby in here?
Tux: Uh...
Bluey: Tux Border-Heeler.
Tux:...Yes.
Mackenzie: Tux, where did you find him?
Robby: Tux said he found him under the porch.
Robby stepped behind Tux as he spoke, rubbing his arm. Both Mackenzie and Bluey looked at each other, a bit surprised that a Wallaby was under their porch of all places. But as his parents were thinking, Tux now would be a great time to speak.
Tux: Mum? Dad? Can we keep him? Please?
Bluey: Tux. You know we can't keep him.
Tux: Why?!
Bluey: Because he doesn't belong in our house. He belongs in the wild where he lives.
Tux: But he can live here with us! Can't he?
Bluey: No, Tux.
Tux: Aw, come on!
Mackenzie: Tux, having an animal like this is too much work.
Tux: But I can help take of it!
Bluey: Tux, enough! We're gonna call animal control now.
Tux: But...
Tux wanted to say something, object to his mother and father's words, but he couldn't say anything for some reason. He instead looked down at the floor with a sad face. Mackenzie and Bluey saw it and watch Tux's eyes begin to frowned sympathetically. Bluey approached Tux, getting on her knee, and placed her hand on Tux's shoulder which made him look up at his mum.
Bluey: Tux, we know you like him very much. But we need to let him go free, so he could return to his family who loves him. If we keep him then it would be like taking him away.
Mackenzie: That's right. You wouldn't like it if someone took you away from us, would you?
Tux: No.
Bluey: Exactly. So, we have to let him go.
Tux looked at Bluey, then at Mackenzie, thinking about what they told him. He wanted Wally, but he truly didn't want to keep him away from any family he might have.
Tux: Okay.
Bluey: It will be okay, Tux.
Tux watched as the animal catcher carried Wallaby to the back of her truck. Bluey was able to call animal control while Mackenzie held onto on the front porch. But Mackenzie allowed Robby, Ally, and Tux to pet him, which Wally really enjoyed. When animal control came, a female kelpie, she gently took Wally in her arms and placed him inside a cage in the back of her truck. When she had finished she walked back to Bluey and Mackenzie and asked them a few more questions, all the way, Tux didn't take his eyes off Wally inside the cage. But before she was ready to go, Tux gingerly approached her.
Tux: What's gonna happened to him?
Kelpie: Don't worry. I'm just gonna take the Wallaby back to the wild where it lives.
Tux: Promise?
Kelpie: Yes. I Promise.
Tux: Thanks.
The red kelpie smiled cheerfully and she turned to get back in her truck. But Tux looked back at Wally once more in the cage, feeling the urge to do one more thing.
Tux: Wait! Can I say goodbye?
The red kelpie looked back at Tux after hearing him, and made a gingerly smile, then nodded yes. Tux then walked over to the cage and tried to climb up so he could see Wally. But Mackenzie walked over and picked up his son with both hands and held him up against the truck so he can see Wally. The animal turned to look at Tux from in the cage and Tux frowned as he sniffled a tiny bit, feeling all worked how this is how they must part ways.
Tux: Goodbye, Wally. I'm gonna miss you. It was fun having you here, and I hope you find your family.
Tux gently placed his paw on the cage as he looked at Wally, who looked at him for a moment before he turned to his paw. Wally leaned forward and gently started licking his paw and the cage bars. Tux quickly giggled as his mood turned brighter and smiled, that made Mackenzie's heart soar.
Mackenzie then placed down Tux and they stepped back as the red kelpie got back into the truck, started the engine, and drove out the driveway and away. The whole family walked to the end of the driveway and watched as Wally left.
Everyone: Goodbye Wally!
Everyone waved goodbye and Tux stretched himself high a little and tried to catch a glimps of Wally one more time, until the truck disappeared down the hill. When the truck was gone Tux just stood there with his family and started to frown again. Bluey was the first to noticed and got on her knee, moving his chin with her finger up to her face.
Bluey: You okay, son?
Tux: Yeah...I already miss Wally.
Bluey: I know, Tux. Because you love Wally with all your heart, like me and your dad do too.
Tux: Thanks. Do you think he'll find his family.
Bluey: I don't know. But I like to think most likely.
Bluey smiled cheery as Tux smiled back too and she slowly reached out her arms and hugged her son tightly. Mackenzie, Robby, and Ally all watched around them and all smiled in this tender moment. After a few more seconds Bluey let go of Tux and the mother and son smiled again, before they looked back at the road where Wally went down.
Tux: He was a good boy.
Tux smiled, but Bluey became a bit stunned. She rubbed the back of her neck as she became nervous as she looked at her son.
Bluey: Uh, honey?
Tux: Yeah mum?
Bluey: Uh. (Knelt fown in fromt of Tux) When Mackenzie picked Wally up, there was something I noticed about Wally.
Tux: What was it?
Bluey: Well...Wally was a girl.
Tux:...WHAT?!
The next day after Tux brought the Wallaby into the house, the little pup was up in his room playing with blocks, stacking them into a tower. But Tux honestly didn't know what he was doing. He was still a little sad about Wally. When he finished making a tower, Tux just pushed them with one paw and down came the tower. Tux sighed as his eyes turned to the floor. Just then his door opened and Tux looked up to see his parents enter.
Bluey: Hey sweetie. How are you?
Tux: I'm okay.
Bluey: Still sad about Wallaby.
Tux: Yeah.
Bluey: I know, Tux. But Wally had to go back to the wild. So he...I mean, she can be with her family.
Tux: I know. But I still miss him. I mean her.
Mackenzie: Well, we got you something.
Tux: Huh?
Mackenzie stepped forward and pulled out something from behind his back. Tux looked up and saw it. It was a stuffed animal toy that looked exactly like Wally! A wallaby stuffed animal. Tux gasped in astonishment.
Mackenzie: When I was on my way home from the farms, I drove passed the toy store and I found this little guy in the window. I thought you'd like it.
Mackenzie and Bluey walked over and Mackenzie handed the Wallaby toy to Tux. He just looked at it with his mouth opened. Suddenly his eyes began to shine and his open mouth changed into a smile, before he gave the Wallaby toy a big squeeze in his arms.
Tux: I LOVE HIM!
Bluey: Awww, Tux.
Seeing her son happy and better made Bluey smile. She reached down and began to stroke through Tux's hair as he hugged his new friend in his arms. Mackenzie was smiling too next to his wife and son. He folded his arms and nodded his head for a job well done. After a few seconds of hugging Tux looked back at his parents with joy all over his face.
Tux: Wait? Is this one a boy?
Mackenzie: Well, I mean, it doesn't have a-
Bluey: Of course it is! What are you gonna name-
Tux: Wally!
Bluey: Heh. Of course.
The End.
