Chapter Text
I really thought it was just a really good quality vivid dream...Turns out I've really been put into a fantasy book I hyperfixated on.
My real name is Victoria, however people on the internet usually call me Hanako. I'm eighteen years old. No, wait... I was eighteen, now I'm in twelve. Yay back to childhood.
Anyways, it happened like month ago, or maybe two. I forgot honestly.
I was texting my online sister at night, lying on my side with the screen on the lowest brightness and volume turned off. I live in a normal sized room, with walls that didn't reach the ceiling and no door, so if I had my phone any brighter, it would definitely be seen from my father's room... And I don't feel like getting my ass beaten.
It was around 3:36 when I decided I should definitely go to sleep, school tomorrow so I put the phone aside and closed my eyes for the less than 2 hours of sleep I'll get before the alarm blesses my ears with a Kikuo's song.
The next thing I saw, or rather heard, were voices of American kids. Weird, considering I'm from Poland. I opened my eyes and noticed that I'm on a bus, a school bus to be specific. I was sitting next to some blonde girl who was busy talking with some other girls in the seats infront of ours. I looked down at my legs, they looked smaller, which was surprising, based on the fact that I'm an eighteen years old woman with thighs so large 4 fat cats could fit on them.
I looked at myself more, seeing that I'm wearing a pastel pink dress with butterfly pattern, white sneakers and a yellow cardigan. I mentally approved of this outfit, it looks cute.
I assumed that I'm in a vivid dream, so I'm excited with this new experience, usually my dreams aren't as good quality as this.
I touched my hair to see what color is it, mostly to know if in this dream I'm myself but younger or one of my ocs or just a character from a show I like. I noticed white hair, my persona has white hair, but I wasn't completely sure so I searched for any photo of my face.
I reached out to my cardigan's pocket, taking out a student ID. On it was a photo of a child's face, she has blue eyes, pale skin and white hair. It was definitely my persona. Cool!
The ID had a name written on it:
Elizabeth Williams
My persona has too many names.... Good thing is, I was born on 4th of July, just like I do normally. So it won't be confusing if someone asked me for it. However, reading the MM/DD/YY format almost made me think I was born on 7th of April. I really hate America. And oh god, I was born in a year starting from '19'. I'm so fucking old here. Am I even gen Z here?
There was something more written on the ID but I couldn't seem to be able to read it, like if my eyes couldn't focus on a whole sentences and just looked at every single letter in random order... It was annoying, but I decided to just stop giving myself a headache. It didn't seem important.
I listened to fellow conversations, trying to focus on just one voice, which was extremely hard when my mind seemed to wander off anytime someone got just a bit louder...
But then heard a conversation between two boys, I noticed they weren't sitting so far, being right behind me.
"It's okay, I like peanut butter." A boy said, it was an unfamiliar, but at the same time familiar, voice. I had a feeling of deja vu, like if I heard that exact sentence before.
"That's it" I could hear the other boy trying to stand up, but getting stopped by the peanut butter guy.
That's when I realized that those two behind me are characters from a book, infamous Percy Jackson and his satyr friend, Grover Underwood.
I had to held in a excited giggle, this dream was sure to be fun! Which is, my gods, so rare!
Like once I had a dream where I was on an island where everyone had at least one missing limb, mostly a leg. I went to the butcher's shop, planning on buying some meat for a soup, and ended up walking in a fridge room, unsure of how those are called, and I noticed bunch of pale legs hanging from the ceiling on a hook, those being the only meat there was.... So yeah, a normal dream seemed like a miracle for me.
Soon enough, the bus stopped and we arrived at the Museum, somehow my mind was able to know how it looked like without ever seeing it before. It should be my clue that this isn't a dream.... But I'm dumb.
I noticed a man on a wheelchair, guiding the kids inside, I followed closely, but also searched with my eyes for the black haired kid with sea-green eyes. I finally found Percy and Grover and stood next to them while Chiron— No wait, right now he's called Mr.Brunner, right? Talked about the stuff in the Museum.
I honestly zoned out, things were happening just like in the books, the conversation between Mr. Brunner and Percy, some other NPCs whispering between themselves, all that crap.
Before I even realized, I was outside the museum, with the rest of the class. I instantly decided it's a good time to try and befriend Percy and Grover, at least before the Nancy girl gets sent flying into the fountain.
I came over to the boys. Oh crap what do I say what do I say. Grover had an expression like if he doesn't recognize me, probably being worried about what I might do to them and Percy was definitely ready for some new bullying experience.
"Uhhh...." I stared at them for a solid minute, I'm terrible at making friends. "Want to be friends-?" I managed to blurt out, instantly wanting to kill myself. Ah, the social anxiety.
Percy raised an eyebrow, suspicious of me. "Friends?" He repeated, looking at me like if I was about to throw a sandwich at him and say sike or something like that, oh my poor sweet boy.
Grover however smiled and made place for me to sit at. "Of course! My name is Grover and this is Percy, if you didn't know."
I smiled like a child in a toy store, sitting next to the satyr, deciding it's better to introduce myself as well.
"My name is.... Han— Elizabeth! My name is Elizabeth, but you can call me Eliza... or Anything you're comfortable with." Gods keeping track of those names is annoying, I should just tell them to call me Hanako. Grover smiled saying nice to meet you and all that.
Grover noticed Percy holding an apple and asked if he can have it.
"Ale mam ochotę teraz na polski rosół." (tran: "I'm so hungry for Polish chicken broth soup right now.")
I felt eyes on me so I looked up and saw them both looking at me like if I just casted a spell. I quickly realized it must be because I just randomly spoke Polish. After all, imagine that a random girl comes to you, asks to be your friend... And then starts saying stuff in language you don't recognize. IT'S A WITCHHHHH
"It's Polish I just spoke, I'm from Poland" I explained, but was too lazy to translate what exactly did I say.
And of course, just like in the books - Nancy whatever her last name was, appeared and started just being a dick. I moved aside from the fountain, to not get water on me. And just like in the books, fountain water grabbed the girl. I had to hold in laughter at the beautiful view of the soaked girl. She deserved it.
Then a teacher, who isn't really a teacher, came over and took Percy to have a 'talk' with him. Have fun fighting with a fury! Meanwhile I sat down next to worried looking Satyr.
"He'll be fine, he's got strong armor plot." I blurted out casually. "Huh-?" Grover was confused once more, sounds like a returning theme.
Now that I think about it... How about I ask Grover if I'm a demigod? He must know from my smell. "Hey, Grover?" He looked at me from whatever he was thinking about. "Yes?" He asked, clearly still worried about Percy.
Also, from what I noticed, he doesn't recognize me like other students do, he knows I never been here before, Chiron seems to know it as well. It must be nerve wracking for him. Somebody he doesn't recognize just appeared and the first thing she did was trying to befriend them, suspicious if you ask me.
"Hey, am I a demigod?" I finally asked, looking at this horrified face. "Uh... Yes, you are- But how did you-" I smiled at the clarification, yes baby! Time to die young!
"Cool. Oh uh- I just know-? I can see the future, just wanted to see if it was for real.." This was, kinda the truth. After all I do know about the future from the books, as long as the future won't change too much because of me that is.
Grover looked surprised at my words, probably thinking who's my godly parent. I honestly bet it's Apollo, I'm betting $1 on it (I'm poor).
"Y-You can see the future?-"
"Yeah, yeah, anyways I can't spoil too much, I know you're bad at lying and I need my future in check-. Oh! We're about to get a new teacher." Ah yes, time to gaslight a 12 years old boy. So fun.
The day passed by, I gaslighted Percy like in canon. Grover of course sucked at lying, but that's good.
I also realized that this is not a dream after I accidentally fell asleep in the bus driving back to school and didn't wake up in my room. I took the information rather calmly, I didn't have anything interesting in my previous life anyways.
Later, on the one special evening, it finally was time for Grover to have a conversation with Chiron that will be heard by Percy and all that.
I decided to go to ''Mr.Brunner'' office, just to hang around, to also make sure they're talking about Percy and solstice. I barged in, opening the door with a kick of my foot. Grover almost jumped when he saw me, and Chiron was surprised by my arrival. Oh and he was in his half-horse form. Fun.
"Heya! Just making sure you're staying canon. Now continue the conversation about Percy and all that." I sat down on the desk, playing with the pencil I found. So polite, I know.
They continued their talk but a bit more awkwardly with me being around. Of course, Grover explained that I can see the future and I know what they'll be talking about, but it was still weird to have some girl control what you speak about like if it's a theatre play rehearsal.
Percy overheard the conversation about him, made noise and made Chiron go after him, while he managed to hide, going back to his shared dorm room with Grover.
"That was Percy." I told them casually. "Hey, Chiron, mind taking me to the Camp? I don't feel like getting to the camp like Percy will." I asked Chiron to just casually drop me off at the Half-Blood camp. So casual, Hanako, you're great at this. Chiron just sighed and agreed. "Sure, I'll take you there, Elizabeth." Who?- Ah right, I forgot it's my name here-
"Hanako, Mr. Chiron. Call me Hanako. I'm not used to this body's name yet."
"Excuse me?"
"Just call me Hanako, okay?"
Chiron spent only 5 minutes in the same room as I, and he already looked like if he wants to retire.
Anyways, next day I had to call my mom from the office, to say I'm gonna be at the camp. The conversation went something like:
"Hello? Who is it?"
"Hello, birth giver. Bajo jajo, bajo jajo. I'm going to the camp, you suck."
And I ended the call. Cool, I know. Chiron just sighed, looking 10 years older, as I put the school phone down. He stared at me for a solid minute crossing his arms.
"Eliz— Hanako, may I ask why you're wearing the same clothes for few days straight now?"
"Oh fuck, I forgot about that-"
"Language!"
"I'm gonna start either swearing or saying a random object in Polish so you won't be able to know when I'm cursing, ty piekarniku." (Tran: You oven) Chiron officially lost any faith in me.
"Anyways.... Where exactly is my dorm room? Being honest I totally forgot where it is. I've been sleeping in bathroom those days."
"You're a... very special child."
"Aww, thanks!" I knew that wasn't a compliment, but I couldn't resist the urge to be a little shit. Especially when I know Chiron isn't the type of person to beat my ass for it.
After that Chiron showed me where my dorm room is, I wasn't sharing it with anyone fortunately. I entered the typical plain room with gray walls and a small bed, just enough for one person. I couldn't care less about the uncomfortable mattresses. I have the special ability of sleeping everywhere, so I would still fall asleep no matter how uncomfortable the bed is.
There was a bathroom door on the opposite side of my bed. I decided that I could probably use a shower, I surely smell like shit. I took some fresh clothes, they were in a similar style I'm wearing currently. And it seems like my new body is allergic to pants. Fine by me, I love dresses especially ones that make me feel like I'm in the 19th century.
I went to the bathroom, spent like 5 minutes to make sure the water is perfectly warm, like boiling but not boiling enough to turn me into a soup. After adjusting the water I took off my clothes.
I looked at my naked body and saw cult symbols carved with knife on my stomach.
"Ah, at least now I know what's my backstory. Cool."
I always gave my persona's dramatic backstory, like if it was a competition. This body, from what I remember, been through a cult her mother lead, been almost killed 3 times by her mother and should supposedly run away to the camp when I'm fourteen. Oh and I think I was also molested by my piano teacher. So fucking cool.
I took the shower, coming out looking like a crab with how red I was from water. My skin was steaming. Literally.
I put on a pretty girly pop dress, it was pink. My favorite color. I, obviously, had to spin around in front of a mirror. I am a princess and no one can tell me otherwise.
"Looking good, Hanako." I compliment myself.
After deciding with Chiron that he'll take me to the camp immediately after school, I went to my dorm room and packed bunch of cute dresses, clothes and other stuff like towels, a soap bar, shampoo, pink hairbrush, sketchbook, pencil that looks like if it survived an apocalypse and protective sunscreen.
I know that I'm a child of Apollo, but screw the sun and my skin getting burned alive, so yea... Sorry, dad.
The school year ended, I went to say goodbye to Percy and Grover. I gave them both sun-shaped hair pins and said something like "Trust me, bro. This will make the sun spare you from sunburns."
I went to Chiron's office, of course barging in without knocking.
"Heya!"
Chiron didn't even need to look up to know it's me, who else would just barge in without knocking and say "Heya"
"Dear gods, you need to start knocking, child."
"Knocking is overrated. Anyways, what type of transportation are we going to take? Oh please tell me we'll just take taxi! I'm not mentally prepared to take you as a transport, even though it would be efficient."
My point was good, horse riding a centaur is not something that's on my 2005 bingo. And I would prefer if it stayed that way.
"... We are taking a bus."
"Oh thank the gods!" And that's the last time I'll ever be thankful to the gods. Fuck all of them (Except for After-Trials Apollo and Hestia.)
"You're the most confusing demigod I ever seen."
"Yay! I'm original!"
"I'm considering getting you therapy, you clearly need it."
"Bro what-"
No way my gay behavior made Chiron think I need therapy, from the spoilers I seen on TikTok Chiron didn't propose therapy to Percy even after he's been trough Tartarus. But I guess I'm just giving him development and Percy might actually get therapy thanks to me.
"Wrong person, Chiron, but I appreciate your concern."
I casually looked through cabinets in his office, saw some boring looking papers and... A Polish dictionary.
"Chiron! You can't do that! That's illegal- You can't just use uno reverse against me like this, ty kurwo." (Tran: You bitch)
"Hey! Don't call me a bitch, young lady!"
"Nah, I'm cooked."
I antagonized over the fact that Chiron learned Polish curse words. But you know what? I'm gonna be petty and just make my own curse words. No one, even the gods are gonna stop me from swearing.
"Yeah, yeah, sorry Chiron- Oh! What's your favorite book series?" I asked. Chiron thought about his answer, perhaps thinking if answering is a good idea. "Game of Thrones, I've been rereading it the most. I suppose it is a favorite of mine." Chiron answered and I smiled with a smile that said 'You're cooked, Chiron.'
I'm a petty type of person. Once, I learned that some girl from my class loves watching games of thrones but haven't read the books, so what did I do? I read every single book and memorized every death and how the person was killed. Everytime that girl annoyed me I started listing next characters that die. Blackmail isn't an option, it's a way of life.
"Allow me to swear at least 5 times in a day or else I'll spoil the next character that dies."
"I already read all 3 books, there's nothing you can spoil."
"Book 4: A Feast for Crows, released in 2005, 17th October. The characters that died: Ly—" I got interrupted by Chiron, who definitely doesn't want to get spoiled. Heh, I'm gonna have a whole lot of fun with this.
"Okay, okay! Don't spoil it, you can curse... just not about gods infront of the gods, fine?"
"Fine by me."
Me and Chiron, in his wheelchair, went to the bus stop in a very fun way. I pushed his wheelchair and screamed "Z drogi śledzie, kaleka jedzie!" (Tran: "Get out of the way, herrings, the cripple is coming" it sounds funnier in Polish.) while doing so. Chiron wasn't impressed.
"Why did I agree to take you to the camp again?"
"You just can't handle my greatness."
He indeed, couldn't handle my greatness.
The bus arrived, we got in. Well I surely do hope no monsters are here to kick my ass. And luckily, there weren't. Yippee! We got off at a bus stop people only get off on if they want to get lost in the forest nearby. And now was time to walk. And walk. Goddammit too much walk.
"My legs hurt."
"We only been walking for 5 minutes..."
"Okay, and? Doesn't change the fact that my legs hurt." I complained. Gods I must be so annoying.
"We'll be at the camp soon." Chiron reassured, but honestly I think he said that only to make me stop complaining. But we did indeed arrive before Thalia's tree. I patted the tree's trunk. "Heya, Thalia. Nice today, ain't that right?" Chiron stiffened momentarily at the name, but didn't say anything. We arrived at the camp, and the first person to greet us was Annabeth.
"Heya." I greeted the girl, who was analyzing me, probably thinking if I'm the person that was destined to get her to have a quest or something like that.
"Claimed or unclaimed?" The blonde girl asked Chiron, who, when I wasn't looking, got back to his centaur form. "Unclaimed." Chiron answered, but I butted in.
"I'm Apollo's daughter. I'm gonna ask him to claim me through fireplace offerings or whatever it was called." Athena's daughter looked surprised. It wasn't often to see a new demigod who seems to know everything already. She was intrigued.
"But I guess, take me to cabin 11 for now." I said, not really wanting to meet with Luke, but welp. Chiron sighed and asked Annabeth to take me to Hermes cabin. We passed bunch of other cabins and places on our way. I hummed to the melody of "Say No to This" and before I realized, we were already infront of the cabin 11.
"I love Hermes but he seriously couldn't afford another cabin?" I complained.
Suddenly the tall blonde guy with a scar across his face came out and greeted me with a smile.
"Hello, newbie. My name is Luke, the Hermes cabin counsellor." Luke introduced himself, looking at from me to Annabeth.
"Claimed or Unclaimed?" He asked and Annabeth replied.
"Unclaimed." I could hear the whole cabin groan. It was a valid reaction, but it was still rude!
"Gods, Apollo better claim me quickly or I'll have a beef with him." I muttered, and Luke raised an eyebrow. "Apollo?" Yes, dumbass. Apollo. Are you deaf?
"Anyways, can I just sleep for now? Wake me up for dinner." I colonized a part on the floor, curled up into a ball like a cat and fell asleep while hugging my bag with my stuff. If anything is missing by the time I'm awake, I'll personally murder everyone in this cabin. Goodnight.
