Calypso catches sight of a shadow that moves between the trees, stepping from the shade into soft sunlight. Her breath stills. The woman is striking in her appearance—her hair spilling over her shoulders, loose and unbound, with golden eyes that look upon her curiously. She steps forward, closing the space between them.
“Welcome, traveler,” says the woman. “You must have come a long way.”
In which Calypso finds herself on Circe’s island and meets the woman herself.
