Work Text:

Dazai loved lazy days.

To be fair, most days were lazy days for him—but when it wasn’t actually required for him to do work? Even better. Still, something about today was…bugging him.

Quite a lot.

He couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

With a sigh, he rolled over on the couch, deliberately ignoring the glare Kunikida was sending his way. I mean, seriously—what else was Dazai supposed to do, paperwork? That was explicitly Kunikida’s job.

A notification buzzed on his phone.

A reminder.

Huh.

Dazai swiped it open, his eyes widening just slightly at the text.

“Slug’s birthday.”

…Hm.

He was pretty sure he’d gotten rid of that.

Dazai huffed and swiped the notification away.

Not his problem.

Okay—maybe it was his problem.

Seeing as it had been nagging at him all day.

Honestly, that slug just loved to ruin his best days, didn’t he? He groaned, sitting up and dragging a hand down his face.

How was he supposed to deal with this?

Dazai paused, thinking.

Maybe the best way to get rid of the uncomfortable pit in his stomach was to just face the problem head-on—

Wait.

No.

Bad idea.

Very bad idea.

The internal conflict only grew heavier, like a hammer pounding against his thoughts.
Maybe if he just…waited it out. Let the day end.

Maybe then it would go away.

It did not go away.

By evening, Dazai felt worse. The feeling had settled into something almost nauseating.

…Right.

So maybe the problem did need to be faced.

Dazai stood outside an apartment complex, staring up at it. He had no idea if Chuuya still lived here. He was, quite literally, guessing. As he stepped inside and made his way to the elevator, the weight in his chest only grew.

Why was he doing this again?

The elevator dinged, cutting through his thoughts as the doors slid open to Chuuya’s floor. Dazai stilled for a moment. Then he took a breath and walked forward. When he reached the door, he froze again.

Knock?

Doorbell?

Yell?

…Knock.

He raised his hand and rapped against the door, immediately stiffening at the sound of approaching footsteps. The door swung open, revealing a very dressed-up Chuuya.

“Hey—sorry, just give me a sec to find my wal—”

“Chuuya! Hi, how are you? That’s good. Anyway, I thought I’d pop by since it’s my slug’s birthday, and it would be awfully rude of me not to visit.” Dazai breezed past him mid-sentence, already making himself at home as he dropped onto the couch.

Leather.

Nice.

Chuuya just stood there, blinking.

“I—Da—what—what the fuck!?”

Dazai sighed, stretching out like he belonged there.

“Wow, I knew you were a clean freak, but seriously, Chuuya—there’s not even a speck of dust.”

Chuuya stared at him for a few more seconds, clearly trying to reboot his brain.

Then—

“What the actual fuck, Dazai!? Get the hell out!”

Dazai shot him a lazy smile.

“Sorry, sluggy. It seems I need to be here, so unfortunately for you, we’re stuck together.”

“The hell do you mean you need to be here!? This is literally breaking and entering!”

Dazai rolled his eyes.

“Oh, and what are you going to do? Call the police?”

Chuuya opened his mouth—

Closed it.

Opened it again.

“…You know what? Don’t test me.”

Dazai tilted his head, watching him more closely now.

There it was.

The suit. The polished shoes. The faint smell of cologne.

“…You’re going out,” Dazai said.

Chuuya scoffed, crossing his arms. “Wow. Incredible observation. Now get out of my house.”

“…Date?” Dazai added, voice lighter than it should’ve been.

Chuuya froze.

Just for a second.

But Dazai caught it.

“…Shut up,” Chuuya muttered.

Oh.

Dazai felt something twist unpleasantly in his chest.

So that was it.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then Dazai smiled.

Too quick. Too easy.

“Aw, Chuuya, I didn’t know you had it in you. I’m touched. Really—who’s the unlucky person?”

Chuuya’s eye twitched.

“None of your damn business.”

Dazai hummed, propping his chin up on his hand as he watched him.

“Hmm… someone patient, I assume. They’d have to be, to deal with your temper.”

“Get. Out.”

“Or maybe they like that,” Dazai continued, completely ignoring him. “Some people are into that sort of thing.”

Chuuya took a step forward, glaring. “I swear to god, Dazai—”

“What time are you meeting them?”

“Dazai.”

“Where are you going?”

“Dazai.”

“Do they know you’re short—”

“I WILL THROW YOU OUT THE WINDOW.”

Dazai grinned.

There he was.

But the smile didn’t quite reach his eyes.

“…You’re going to be late,” Dazai said after a moment, voice quieter now.

Chuuya paused.

“…Yeah,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair. “So move.”

Dazai didn’t.

Instead, he leaned back further into the couch, like he had all the time in the world.

“…You remembered,” he said.

Chuuya blinked. “What?”

“Your birthday,” Dazai clarified, gaze flicking away for half a second before returning. “You actually remembered it.”

There was something off in his tone.

Chuuya noticed.

“…Of course I did,” he said slowly. “Why wouldn’t I?”

Dazai shrugged.

“No reason.”

A beat.

“…You didn’t used to care,” Dazai added, almost absently.

That made Chuuya frown.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

Dazai didn’t answer right away.

His fingers tapped idly against the armrest, rhythm uneven.

“…Back then,” he said eventually, “you’d forget. Or you’d pretend to.”

Chuuya stared at him.

“…That was different,” he said.

“Was it?”

“Yes.”

Another pause.

Chuuya exhaled sharply, irritation bleeding back into his expression.

“Look, I don’t have time for whatever weird mood you’re in right now. I have somewhere to be.”

Dazai’s lips curled slightly.

“Right. Your date.”

Chuuya hesitated—just enough.

“…It’s not like that.”

Dazai’s gaze snapped back to him.

“…Oh?”

“Not that it matters to you,” Chuuya added quickly, defensive now. “So seriously—get out.”

Dazai studied him.

The stiffness in his shoulders. The way he wouldn’t quite meet his eyes anymore.

The way he’d paused.

“…You could cancel,” Dazai said lightly.

Chuuya let out a disbelieving laugh. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“I mean,” Dazai continued, like he hadn’t heard him, “it is your birthday. You should spend it how you actually want to.”

“I am.”

“Are you?”

Chuuya’s jaw tightened.

“Yes.”

Dazai tilted his head.

“…Then why do you look so annoyed?”

“I always look annoyed when you’re around.”

“Fair.”

A beat.

Then—

“…Stay out of it, Dazai,” Chuuya said, quieter now. Not yelling. Not snapping.

Just…firm.

That made something in Dazai’s chest drop.

For once, he didn’t have a clever reply ready.

Silence stretched between them.

Chuuya checked the time on his phone, clicking his tongue.

“Dammit…”

He grabbed his coat from the chair, shrugging it on quickly.

“I’m leaving,” he said. “You—” he pointed at Dazai, “—better be gone by the time I get back.”

Dazai watched him walk toward the door.

Watched his hand reach for the handle.

“…Chuuya.”

He stopped.

Didn’t turn around.

“What.”

Dazai hesitated.

Just for a second.

“…Happy birthday.”

The words came out quieter than anything he’d said since arriving.

Chuuya went still.

Completely still.

A long pause.

Then—

“…You’re late,” he muttered.

But he didn’t sound angry.

Dazai huffed softly. “I showed up, didn’t I?”

“…Yeah,” Chuuya said.

Another pause.

His hand tightened slightly on the door handle.

“…You’re still an asshole, though.”

Dazai smiled faintly. “Naturally.”

Chuuya shook his head, like he was trying to shake something off.

“…Lock the door when you leave,” he said, pulling it open.

Then he stepped out.

And he was gone.

The apartment felt…too quiet.

Dazai stared at the door for a long moment.

Then he leaned back into the couch, exhaling slowly.

“…That went well,” he muttered to himself.

The pit in his stomach hadn’t gone away.

If anything—

It felt worse.

His gaze drifted to the empty space Chuuya had been standing in.

To the coat rack.

To the door.

“…Tch.”

Dazai sat up abruptly, running a hand through his hair.

This was stupid.

Ridiculous.

He had done the thing. He had acknowledged it. Problem solved.

So why did it feel like he’d just made a mistake?

Dazai grabbed his phone, staring at the screen.

For a moment, he hesitated.

Then—

He stood.

“…Yeah,” he sighed. “Definitely a mistake.”

And with that, he headed for the door.

The restaurant was…nice.

Too nice, honestly.

Soft lighting, quiet music, the kind of place where people spoke in low voices and laughed politely instead of loudly. The kind of place Chuuya didn’t hate—but didn’t exactly choose either.

He sat at the table, one leg crossed over the other, fingers tapping lightly against his glass.

“…So,” the person across from him said, smiling. “You work in…what was it again?”

“Import business,” Chuuya replied automatically.

It came out smooth. Practiced.

They nodded, impressed. “That sounds intense.”

“Something like that.”

They kept talking.

Chuuya nodded in the right places. Responded when needed. Even smirked once or twice.

On the surface, everything was going fine.

But—

“…Chuuya?”

His gaze had drifted.

“…Huh?”

“I asked if you wanted to order another drink.”

“…Oh. Yeah. Sure.”

The waiter came. The order was placed.

The conversation picked back up.

And Chuuya’s mind kept drifting.

Back to the apartment.

Back to the couch.

Back to a stupid, bandage-wrapped idiot who had no business showing up out of nowhere and—

“…You’re distracted.”

Chuuya blinked.

“…Am I?”

“A little,” they said, not unkindly. “Big day?”

He let out a short breath through his nose.

“…Something like that.”

There was a pause.

“…You don’t actually want to be here, do you?”

That made him look up.

Really look at them.

They weren’t upset.

Just…observing.

Chuuya clicked his tongue, leaning back in his chair.

“…You’re pretty sharp.”

“I try.”

Another pause.

Chuuya stared down at his drink, watching the light reflect off the glass.

“…It’s not about you,” he said finally. “Just—so we’re clear.”

“I figured.”

“…Right.”

Silence settled again—but it wasn’t awkward.

Just honest.

Chuuya exhaled, running a hand through his hair.

“…Tch. This is stupid.”

“Want to talk about it?”

“…Not really.”

“Fair enough.”

A small beat.

Then—

“…You should go,” Chuuya said.

They blinked. “I should?”

“Yeah.” He reached for his wallet, already pulling out cash. “I’ll cover it. Sorry for wasting your time.”

“…You’re serious.”

“Yeah.”

They studied him for a moment.

“…It’s him, isn’t it?”

Chuuya froze.

“…Excuse me?”

“The person you’re thinking about,” they said calmly. “The one who’s got you this distracted.”

Chuuya’s grip tightened slightly on the edge of the table.

“…You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Maybe not,” they admitted. “But you looked like you were somewhere else the entire time.”

Chuuya didn’t respond.

Because they weren’t wrong.

“…You should go,” he repeated, quieter now.

A pause.

Then they smiled—small, but understanding.

“…Alright.”

They stood, grabbing their coat.

“Hope you figure it out,” they added.

Chuuya scoffed lightly. “Don’t count on it.”

They laughed under their breath and walked away.

Just like that.

Gone.

Chuuya sat there for a moment longer.

The untouched drink in front of him.

The too-quiet table.

“…Tch.”

He stood abruptly, grabbing his coat and heading out without another glance.

The night air hit him the second he stepped outside.

Cool.

Sharp.

Grounding.

Chuuya shoved his hands into his pockets, already moving.

Fast.

Like if he slowed down, he might actually think about what he was doing.

“…Idiot,” he muttered.

He didn’t specify who.

By the time he reached his apartment building, his irritation had settled into something else.

Something heavier.

He stepped into the elevator, jaw tight, foot tapping impatiently as it ascended.

Ding.

The doors opened.

Chuuya stepped out, striding down the hall.

He stopped in front of his door.

Paused.

Then—

He opened it.

“…You’re back early.”

Dazai’s voice.

Casual.

Like he hadn’t moved at all.

Chuuya stepped inside, shutting the door behind him a little harder than necessary.

“Yeah,” he said flatly.

Dazai glanced at him from the couch, eyes sharp despite the lazy posture.

“…Bad date?”

Chuuya scoffed, tossing his coat aside.

“Didn’t stick around long enough to find out.”

Dazai’s gaze lingered on him.

“…Oh?”

Chuuya didn’t answer right away.

He walked further into the apartment, then stopped.

“…I told them to leave.”

Dazai went still.

“…You what?”

“I told them to go,” Chuuya repeated, turning slightly. “Paid for everything and ended it.”

Silence.

“…Why?” Dazai asked.

The question came out quieter than expected.

Chuuya let out a slow breath.

“…Take a guess.”

Dazai didn’t.

Didn’t joke. Didn’t deflect.

Just watched him.

Waiting.

Chuuya clicked his tongue, looking away.

“…You showed up,” he said finally.

Dazai’s chest tightened.

“…That’s it?”

“No,” Chuuya snapped, then paused.

“…Yeah,” he added, more quietly.

Another silence.

He ran a hand through his hair again, frustrated.

“…It pissed me off,” he admitted. “You barging in like that. Acting like nothing’s changed.”

Dazai flinched—barely noticeable.

“…But it also—” Chuuya cut himself off, scowling. “Tch. Forget it.”

“No,” Dazai said.

Chuuya glanced at him.

“…Finish that.”

Their eyes met.

For once, neither of them looked away.

“…It messed with my head,” Chuuya said finally. “Alright? Happy?”

Dazai swallowed.

“…A little,” he admitted.

Chuuya rolled his eyes, but there was no real bite to it.

“…You’re such an ass.”

“Yeah,” Dazai said softly.

A beat.

“…Sorry.”

That—

That made Chuuya pause.

“…What?”

Dazai looked at him, expression unreadable now.

“…For showing up like that,” he said. “For ruining your plans.”

Chuuya stared at him.

“…You didn’t ruin it,” he said after a moment.

Dazai’s brow furrowed slightly. “I literally did.”

“…No,” Chuuya muttered. “It wasn’t going to work anyway.”

“Why not?”

Chuuya hesitated.

Then huffed.

“…Because they’re not you.”

The words hung in the air.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

Dazai froze.

“…Chuuya—”

“Don’t,” Chuuya cut in quickly. “Don’t make it weird.”

“…A little late for that.”

“Shut up.”

But his voice lacked heat.

Silence stretched between them again.

Different this time.

Charged.

Unsteady.

“…You stayed,” Chuuya said after a moment. Dazai blinked. “Huh?” “You didn’t leave,” Chuuya clarified, gesturing vaguely. “I told you to.”
Dazai leaned back slightly, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “…Yeah,” he said. “I did.”

“…Why?”

Dazai looked at him.

Really looked at him.

“…Take a guess.”

Chuuya scoffed—but he didn’t push further.

Because he already knew.

Because he already knew.

And that was the problem.

Chuuya let out a slow breath, dragging a hand down his face.

“…This is stupid,” he muttered.

Dazai huffed softly. “That’s one way to put it.”

“Shut up.”

“But am I wrong?”

Chuuya shot him a glare—but it didn’t land the way it usually did.

Not sharp.

Not biting.

Just…tired.

“…You always do this,” Chuuya said, quieter now.

Dazai tilted his head. “Do what?”

“You show up,” Chuuya continued, taking a step closer without really thinking about it. “Out of nowhere. Mess everything up. And then act like it doesn’t mean anything.”

Dazai didn’t move.

Didn’t joke.

“…I didn’t say it didn’t mean anything.”

“Yeah?” Chuuya scoffed. “Then what the hell does it mean, Dazai?”

Silence.

For once—

Dazai didn’t have an answer ready.

Chuuya’s jaw tightened.

“Exactly,” he muttered, turning slightly like he was about to step away. “That’s what I—”

Dazai moved.

It was quick—faster than Chuuya expected.

His wrist was caught—not tight, not forceful, but enough to stop him.

“…Don’t,” Dazai said.

Chuuya froze.

“…Don’t what?” he asked, not turning back yet.

“…Walk away like that.”

There was something off in Dazai’s voice.

Something unsteady.

Chuuya slowly turned back to face him.

“…Since when do you care?”

Dazai hesitated.

And that hesitation—

That was all the answer Chuuya needed.

“…You’re unbelievable,” Chuuya breathed, but there was no real anger left in it. “You can’t just—”

“I know.”

That stopped him.

Dazai’s grip loosened slightly, but he didn’t let go.

“I know,” he repeated, quieter. “I know I don’t get to just show up and…do this.”

“…Then why did you?” Chuuya asked.

Dazai looked at him.

Really looked at him.

And for once—there was no deflection. No teasing.

Just something raw.

“…Because it bothered me,” he admitted.

Chuuya blinked. “What did?”

“…The idea of you…” Dazai trailed off, exhaling softly. “Going out with someone else. Acting like I don’t—”

He cut himself off.

Too late.

Chuuya’s heart kicked a little harder in his chest.

“…Like you don’t what?” he pressed.

Dazai’s gaze flickered.

“…Like I don’t care,” he finished.

The room went quiet.

Chuuya stared at him.

“…You’re an idiot,” he said finally.

“Yeah,” Dazai agreed easily.

“And an asshole.”

“Also true.”

Chuuya exhaled sharply, shaking his head—but he didn’t pull his wrist away.

“…You really suck at this,” he muttered.

“I’m aware.”

Another pause.

Closer now.

Somehow.

“…You could’ve just said something,” Chuuya said.

Dazai gave a faint, almost self-deprecating smile. “And ruin my reputation?”

“Your reputation is already garbage.”

“Wow. Harsh.”

“Accurate.”

Dazai huffed a quiet laugh.

And for a second—

Everything felt…lighter.

Until it didn’t.

Until the space between them felt too small.

Too noticeable.

Chuuya’s gaze dropped—just for a second—to Dazai’s lips.

Then snapped back up.

Dazai noticed.

Of course he did.

“…Chuuya,” he said softly.

“…Don’t start,” Chuuya warned, but his voice lacked any real threat.

“I’m not.”

“Good.”

Neither of them moved.

Which, somehow, was worse.

Chuuya clicked his tongue, frustrated.

“…If you’re going to do something, just do it,” he muttered.

Dazai blinked. “That sounds like a trap.”

“It’s not a trap, you idiot—”

That was as far as he got.

Because Dazai closed the distance.

It wasn’t dramatic.

Wasn’t rushed.

Just—decisive.

His hand shifted from Chuuya’s wrist, sliding up just enough to steady him as he leaned in.

And then—

He kissed him.

Chuuya went still.

For half a second.

Like his brain had completely short-circuited.

Then he grabbed onto the front of Dazai’s shirt and pulled him in harder.

Because of course he did.

The kiss wasn’t soft.

Not really.

It was sharp around the edges—frustration, tension, everything they hadn’t said pressing into it.

But it wasn’t careless either.

There was something deliberate in the way Dazai held him, in the way neither of them pulled away.

Like they were both trying to figure it out at the same time.

Eventually—

Breath won.

Chuuya pulled back first, just enough to breathe, his grip still tight in Dazai’s shirt.

“…You’re still an asshole,” he muttered, a little breathless.

Dazai smiled faintly, just as winded.

“Yeah,” he said. “But you kissed me back.”

Chuuya’s eye twitched.

“…Shut up.”

But he didn’t let go.

And neither did Dazai.

It didn’t take long before the two were crashing their lips back together, chuuyas hands coming to fist into dazais shirt. Dazais hands came to thread into chuuyas hair, using his grip to pull him back slightly.

“..I feel like we both know where this is going.”

Chuuya nodded, eyes lidded.

It didn’t take them long to reach the bedroom.

Unsurprisingly, they’d done this dance before. And dazai still knew chuuya like the back of his hand, every little dip and curve of this man’s body was imprinted into dazais mind, he knew what would make chuuya shiver, what would make him moan.

His thoughts were interrupted when chuuya pulled away, both their breaths ragged. Chuuya immediately went for dazais vest, desperately trying to unbutton it. Dazai let him, waiting until he was down to his shirt, the bandages along his chest bare.

“..your not skin and bones anymore then.”

Chuuya muttered, his hand coming to touch the bare skin.

“Mm, surprisingly they actually care about our wellbeing at the agency.”

Chuuya hummed, slipping the rest of dazais shirt off.

“Well..props to them..maybe you’ll actually be able to fuck me without getting exhausted like a limp fish.”

Dazai groaned. “Insults are such a turn off sluggy.” Chuuya just chuckled, his voice cut off when dazai pushed them both back onto the bed. Dazai brought his lips back onto chuuya, this time attaching to his neck, softly sucking at the tender skin.

Chuuya moaned, arms coming to circle around dazais shoulders. His hips jerking upwards at a harsh suck, dazai grinded back, ending up with the both of them grinding against each other like horny teenagers.

Chuuyas clothes were next to come off, dazai practically pulling desperately at the fabric.

Soon enough. The both of them were naked and very horny.

Chuuya pulled himself up, pulling open his drawers and digging through them, before pulling out a small bottle and throwing it at dazai, hitting him the face.

“Brutal.” He muttered, opening the cap “assaulted by a slug who’s basically begging me to fuck him.”

Chuuya glared at him, rolling onto his back. “I ain’t begging dipshit. Your the one that pounced on me.”

“Shh, don’t waste your voice, you need to save it for when your screaming my name.” Chuuya groaned. “Just hurry up you dork.” Dazai hummed, spreading the lube over his fingers, before leaning over chuuya, bringing his fingers to his entrance.

“You know, you really suck at foreplay.”
Chuuya muttered, wincing as the first digit slid in. “Ah..but romance was never our style, was it slug?

Chuuya hummed, his breathing growing heavier the more dazais finger moved.

The second finger was a stretch, chuuya hadn’t done this in what..years? The feeling of it was almost foreign. Dazais head went to rest against chuuyas shoulder, basking in the sudden moan that escaped chuuya when his fingers crooked upwards.

Dazai was relentless from then, his fingers driving into the shorter man, bathing in the pitched moans rising from chuuyas throat.

“Sluggy seems to like this no?” Dazai said, looking up and titling his head.

“S-shut..hah..up..”

Dazai just chuckled, continuing to stretch and pump in and out of chuuyas greedy hole.

Eventually, he pulled his fingers out, reaching over for the lube once more. He drizzled it over his cock, before slowly pumping it, the slick gel coating his length.

Dazai looked back at chuuya, titling his head.

“Does chuuya want to be on top?”

“No fucking shit I do.”

Dazai chuckled, flopping back onto the bed and chuuya climbed on top of him.
Chuuya positioned himself on dazais leaking cock, his breath hitching as he felt the head catch on his entrance.

Dazai let out a groan of his own as the head of his cock popped inside, the rest of him slowly sinking into the tight heat. His hands were quick to fly to chuuyas hips as chuuya fully sank down, his breath coming out in a whine.

It only took a few seconds for chuuya to start moving, and the room was shortly filled with moans and whines from the both of them. Dazais hips desperately bucking up every time chuuyas hips slammed down.

“Da- fuck- good..feels good-“

“Hah..yeah..? Did chuuya miss fucking himself on my dick? Enlighten me..tell me how you feel..”

Chuuya let out a whine, his hips slamming down harder, each time slamming into prostate.

“Fuck!- you..just want an ego boost dickhead!”

“Maybe..but I did miss getting to hear you..”

Chuuya hips slowed when he heard that.

“W-wait no why did you stop-“

“I call bullshit. No way you missed me.”

Dazais cheeks reddened slightly. “I didn’t miss the slug…I just..missed this.”

Chuuya smirked, now starting to grind down on his cock. “Yeah? Y-you missed this? Missed feeling m-me squeeze around you whenever I go down.”

Dazai whined.

He fucking whined.

Chuuya was prepared to come back with a smart remark, before he was flipped over onto his back, dazai thrusting back in.

“Chuuya thinks he can make all these smart remakes. When at the end of the day, I’m the one who’s deep inside him, fucking him until he’s whining like a fucking baby.”

Oh.

Chuuya forgot he could talk like that.

Well shit.

The pace dazai set was relentless. Continually pounding into him. He grabbed his legs, bringing them up to his shoulders, allowing him to hit a deeper angle.

Chuuyas voice raised in pitch, his moans growing louder and bouncing off the walls. Dazais pace just quickened, his lips coming to latch onto chuuyas neck.

“Shit- shit I’m gonna cum-“ chuuya muttered, holding onto dazai tighter.

Dazai didn’t answer, instead choosing to bite down onto chuuyas neck.

That sent him over.

Chuuya came with a loud moan, cum spurting up his chest, dazai was quick to follow, chuuya letting up a small moan as the feeling of hot cum filled his insides. They lay there for a few minutes, desperately trying to catch their breaths.

“..happy birthday sluggy…”

————————

An hour later, the two were settled in the bath, both on opposite sides of the tub.

“…so.”

“…so?”

Chuuya rolled his eyes.

“Are you staying the night or not.”

Dazai looked suprised, not expecting the question. “..look- chuuya I really shouldn’t-“

“Yeah I figured.”

The two stayed silent.

“How’s the agency?”

“…it’s good…how’s the mafia.”

“It’s good.”

Silence.

…..

“Why did you come.”

Dazai looked up, looking into chuuyas eyes, the blue and brown always did go well together. “..because I can’t let my chuuya go unbothered on his birthday.” Chuuya chuckled, leaning his head against the tile.

“…you never miss a chance to be a dick do you…”

“..gotta keep up with my reputation.”

Chuuya smiled, leaving the rest of the bath in Silence.

—————

They stood at the front door shortly after their bath, both not to sure what to say.

“..don’t die on your way home.”

“Slug knows I’ll die if it’s by mine or his hand.”

Chuuya looked almost sad, turning away to leave.

“..I guess I’ll see chuuya next week.”

Chuuya froze.

Then smiled.

Really smiled.

“..I’ll see you then.” He said, not bothering to look at the smile on dazais face.

They’d probably need to talk.

To discuss what happened.

But for now? All chuuya cared about was the fuzzy feeling in his chest.

And that was enough, for both of them.
