Work Text:
Sakura clutched the fence.
He stared down.
He was on the tightrope again.
The ground seemed to sway below his feet.
Just one step.
what’s left to live for anyways?
And so he put one foot in front of the other.
And his body followed.
The wind whipped his hair.
It all happened so quickly.
Like a candle being blown out by a breeze.
”Such a shame.”
”So young.”
”I heard he was a troublemaker.”
”Oh! Look! They have a deal at the market today!”
The world moved on.
In a town called Makochi.
A girl is cornered on the street.
Her brother finds only pieces.
The leader of Furin Highschool is sentenced to juvenile for murder.
A group from the town past the tunnel under the train disbands.
Two friends,
never resolve their differences.
The abandoned members release their anger onto the town.
The former second in command is jumped one evening,
a gun should never have been brought to such a fight.
Another child looses their life.
Back in the town of Makochi,
a school remains without a head,
a class remains without a captain,
a seat remains vacant.
A boy sits on the opposite side of the class,
bruised and laughing.
He receives a letter.
He leaves.
The boy doesn’t return to Makochi.
In a hospital he lays,
comatose.
A head injury caused by a metal bat.
The doctors say if he did wake up,
he’d be lucky to still walk.
Back in the town of Makochi.
A class captain remains unelected.
Two seats remain vacant.
And in the red light district.
A girl is forced back to hell.
She takes her own life moments before a wedding.
(It was murder. But nobody would come to know that.)
A man is left struggling to pick up the pieces.
Tsubaki doesn’t go back.
Instead they sit by the grave of a grandfather.
The depression got too severe.
He’d fallen ill.
He never got better.
The Angel states down at the broken body of the boy.
He was destined to bring so much good into the world.
And yet the world was too cruel to such a soul.
May he find peace.
The Angel was hurt for this poor soul.
It was hurt by it too.
So it covered the soul’s eyes.
It showed him the people he’d have met,
the warmth he’d have felt,
the challenges he’d overcome,
And the life of love he’d have received.
Then the Angel showed him the present.
Now the soul, too, would know it’s pain.
Truly.
A shame.
May the next life be gentle to you little soul.
