Work Text:
It surely did feel bittersweet in those moments, gliding among the vast skies of this wide world.
How could one forget the travels and adventures? The friends and companions? The joys and failures?
How far did it all seem now. How long has it even been? Everything had always felt insignificant compared to those neverending skies.
The currents carrying you wherever you want, the clouds always changing, never different, the earth and sea so small past them.
All of those towns and cities, so familiars yet so different, bringing forth memories of steps impossible to trace back.
Another wish of a past that never existed, another proof that no one will ever fully relate, another curse toward the all powerful.
And as the moon passes by while the sun sets once again, the reminder that rebuilding what once was serves as nothing more than creating a husk of what could have been anew.
Whether by the seas or the skies, the sun or the rain, from being part of a whole or simply with time, What you dream to be and what is can never stay the same, for you cannot bring back what once was nor can you force to stay what should leave
And as those faces becomes more distant, the buildings more incoherent, and as those talons finally reach their destination,
Those smiling faces and heartwarming words from a different world remind them that, you can always rebuild a new heart from those around you, even when the last one was broken and lost far away in a place that you can't reach anymore
No matter what.
