You excitedly adjusted your headphones, checked your WiFi connection and snacks to make sure everything was working perfectly. The stream was finally starting!
The waiting screen swiftly transitioned to a scene that included the chat, sub goal, and a 2d model moving excitedly. You were currently watching your FAVORITE vtuber of all time, Viaku! He was the self-proclaimed Lord of otaku and shut-ins. Was that title a little corny? Maybe. But you didn’t mind, not if it were him.. You loved him to death, even if it sounded more than a little parasocial, especially with the tons of Viaku merch you had hidden under your bed and inside of your closet. Despite all of that, you didn’t care about how you looked to an outsider, your love and yearning for him overpowered any kind of subconscious shame! Well, partly.. Your merch wouldn’t be hidden if you were fully proud of your own dedication to this stranger that was happily greeting his viewers on your monitor..
The stream passed as usual, from occasional raging from Viaku after driving off the map, to grinning every time you heard him thank your name for a heavy donation, it was a smooth sailing. And yes it wasn’t your actual name he was saying, but you’d feel mortified if someone you knew recognized your name as one of the top supporters of this small streamer..
Your chest filled up with a large wave of emptiness as the clock struck 1AM, the ending theme played and the screen lacked the presence of your radiating beloved. Well, the routine after each stream was the same. After refreshing Viaku’s Ulama page a few times for any post-stream tweets and checking his merch shop to make sure the items you were planning to buy weren’t out of stock yet. You were waiting for your next paycheck to buy in mass since your last haul left you penniless.. Thankfully the exchange program gave you a roof over your head without monetary charge, but you still kept a part time job whenever you could to make sure you could support your adored creator.
After turning off the monitor and PC, you start to prepare yourself for bed and take a short shower. You definitely deserved it after a long week of school, and you knew you’d probably be too lazy to shower tomorrow morning, or rather noon if you stayed on your phone in bed without checking the clock every few minutes.
You simply took your phone, slippers, a pair of underwear and a bathrobe before heading to the bathroom, the rest of your stuff was already there anyway.
On your small walk up the stairs you bumped into someone who was, unsurprisingly, awake as well at this ungodly hour.
[MC]“Oh, hey Levi! On your way to get a midnight snack?”
You ask in a hushed tone considering the hour, a soft smile adorning your lips as you look back up at him. After a short second of awkward silence, the indecisive demon finally spoke up.
[Levi] “N-no, I was actually heading -to your room-..” An ‘o’ shaped mouth and nod from you confirm your understanding and, after giving you a small glance in search of reassurance, he averts his eyes from yours once more before continuing to speak.
[Levi] “I know it’s kind of late but I was wondering if W-we could m-maybe.. play this new game together?.. I-It’s that new horror co-op that came out recently.” Oh, right! You remember him mentioning it a few times last week, telling you about how exciting it seemed and that there were some creative mechanics he’s rarely seen any game do correctly in the past.
After a short second you thought ‘why not? Playing with Levi all night is better than staring at my phone screen all night..’
You agreed without much hesitation, telling him to wait for you in your room. But, you do warn him about how you'll be taking a shower first, so he’ll have to wait for a bit of time.
[Levi] “It's kind of an odd hour to take a shower, lol. B-But take your time, of course! Plus, I already have my hand-held console in your room from last time, so I don’t mind waiting”
You both head opposite directions after a quiet ‘later’ from both, and before you realize it you’re already in the bathroom.
