Chapter Text
"Cinnamon Roll Cookie!? What are you doing here!?" Pure Vanilla cried out as he reached out towards another cookie, trying to stop them from walking forward as the pressure of powerful magic wrapped around them. Darkness filled with blue eyes, all blinking open to look at them.
The cookie he was reaching out for looked up and around them with a soft smile, as if stuck in a dream bliss and Pure Vanilla's voice being too far to reach them. A cookie with blue frosting eyes, white and brown dress with barely any details. Hair that was lined with curls of brown with no clear edge where the hair stopped flowing from their head. A cookie whose simple design was so deceiving for what they were truly capable of.
He hadn't even seen her, he hadn't seen her appear, she was in danger and she was walking right into its clutches with no way of truly knowing what sort of danger she was stepping into…!
"Wooow…" Cinnamon Roll Cookie said in quiet awe, her smile widening as she looked up and around at the many blue eyes. Eyes that were now focusing on her rather than Pure Vanilla and his group-…! "So this is what it's like… It's beautiful…!"
"No…" Elder Fairy whispered in soft horror, but Pure Vanilla didn't have time to question why he sounded like he did. His first priority should be to protect her..!
Pure Vanilla, and his friends quickly rushed over to Cinnamon Roll when the main apparition himself focused on her. The large being that had burst out of the tree only moments ago, looming over them and wrapping all of them into his illusion magic. Pure Vanilla tried to pull Cinnamon Roll behind him, but he couldn't grasp her arm. It went straight through, as if she wasn't part of this world completely. Not yet.
So he settled for placing himself between the two, his staff held up as a protection towards the giant looking blue cookie with his friends quickly surrounding her as well. They've all come to learn of her true nature, and he couldn't let this new threat touch her. He heard Cinnamon roll offer him a soft greeting, but he'd have to return that later. When their lives weren't in danger.
A wide grin spread on the escapee's face, undeterred from Vanilla and his friend's actions as his only focus was on her. That should have been his first warning sign…
The warning sign that this cookie, the one who had been trapped in the tree, knew.
"Oh my, oh dear, it seems like we have a special uninvited guest in the audience! Not that I'm complaining, that makes this all the more fun."
The space around them twisted, darkness pressing closer and closer. Pure Vanilla tried to fend it away with his light, but it was pressing down on him from all sides. He heard a giggle from behind him and he glanced back, a frown tugging on his brow as he saw Cinnamon Roll look up at this cookie with a large smile.
"Hiii…!" Her voice was slow, as if half asleep while she waved at this Shadow Milk Cookie. As if she wasn't a threat, as if the darkness he was releasing wasn't threatening to consume them at any moment. Gingerbrave tried to push her closer to the center, but Cinnamon Roll either couldn't feel it or didn't pay attention to it. Which was enough to make her not move at all. "I wanna see your show… Can I…?"
"Of course you can! I'm nothing if not a good host!" The blue cookie's grin grew sharper just before Pure Vanilla's protection spell broke apart. He tried to grab Cinnamon Roll, and while he managed to touch her, he was pulled away with a sharp yank before he could get proper hold on her. Casting them all into darkness.
"It's going to be the best performance you've yet to see! I guarantee it."
Cookie run was the type of game that you didn't expect to have any form of deep lore within it. Or, at least, that's what you'd first assume when the game franchise first started.
From a determined gingerbread man, running away from the witch who baked him while jumping and collecting coins. To an expanded universe with multiple games, all of their stories intertwined in a beautiful tapestry. A collection of stories that told of grief, despair, happiness, love, all censored expertly through using cookies.
Anya had stumbled onto it by mere chance, with one of her favourite artists creating art for Cookie Run Kingdom. Specifically the duo of Pure Vanilla Cookie and Shadow Milk Cookie. The trope of being "two sides of the same coin" fascinated her. Which made her seek out more, soon discovering the other Beasts in the world. Finding out about the Ancients. How the Ancients and the Beasts were each others other halves. How they battled over the fate of their world, Earthbread, and to hold the power of their soul jams. How the world was all filled with sweets, clever designed cookies with their confections and the amount of love poured into the story.
It was easy to say that Anya became hooked the moment she delved deeper into the lore. She had never played the Cookie Run Kingdom game herself, but knowing about the lore made her more interested to play it. Once she knew of the broader strokes, she wanted to know the details. What part of the plot came first? With how she consumed it she knew the characters backgrounds, but not how it was revealed. She knew what forms the cookies could take, but not how they received those forms.
Anya also preferred to play on her computer rather than on her phone, the screen was just too small and finicky to engage with the game in the way she enjoyed.
A brown tabby cat jumped up on the computer desk, sat down next to Anyas hand that interacted with her computer mouse and stared at her. The cats paws started to knead against the table, their claws lightly scratching the surface. Anya let out a soft giggle as she leaned over to give her cat a gentle kiss on its head, a kiss the cat eagerly leaned into.
"Not now, Ezio. It's still 30 minutes left until meal time." She told the cat with a wide smile. But Ezio continued to sit there, their purrs growing louder at the attention while they kneaded against the table.
"You are just too precious." Anya let out a light laugh and started to pet Ezio on the head with both of her hands and pressed continuous kisses against their forehead with the cat eagerly pressing itself up against her to receive more love. "Oh you are just the most precious little boy. But you know it's not meal time yet, I'm not gonna give you anything just cause you're acting sweet."
Ezio's purrs continued to be loud as he stood up, then slowly reached out with both paws towards his human's shoulder, trimmed claws stretched out and back hunched down as if he was going to use her as a scratch post. Anya just laughed at her cats antics and removed his paws, then placed another kiss to his head.
"How many times do I gotta tell you? Don't try and use me as a scratch post. Just calm down."
Ezio continued to purr loudly and demanded more kisses by pressing his forehead against Anya's mouth. And she was more than happy to oblige, scratching Ezio's head on both sides as she gave him as many kisses on the forehead as he liked before Ezio pulled away.
"There, that's the love dose." Anya lightly scratched behind one of Ezio's ears with a warm smile. "Now let me take care of my cookies, then I can take care of you too when it's food time."
Ezio decided to stay beside her, now moving onto the other side of the table to lie down, purring softly as Anya used one hand to scratch his cheek while the other was busy with her mouse. Anya really hadn't expected to like this game as much as she did. She'd watched videos of cut-scenes and she was looking forward to reaching them in the game herself. A part of her wished to walk on the streets of the little kingdom she's created. To see all of these adorable styled houses. She's only been playing for a week so her decorations weren't the best, but she'd improve on them eventually.
That was just in the nature of her flow of interests. She dug deep into the lore and world of the game, then went to play it to discover the details. And also got somewhat sloppy with it because she wanted to progress with the lore.
Once she'd set up some build projects, she heard her phone ring to signal it was time to give her cat some wet food. Ezio was quick to jump down from the table, rushed towards the kitchen and stopped at his bowl with his paws making biscuits against the floor. Once she got Ezio's food, the cat let out a soft meow as if saying a polite thank you and eagerly ate when it was put on its rightful place. Food for the cat, then food for herself. It was a good routine to have now that she was living alone.
Studying off campus also meant she could live her preferred reclusive life. She didn't need any other company than her cat and the few friends and family she spoke with over the internet and phone. They lived far away, since Anya moved, but they still kept in touch in the ways that mattered.
As Anya pulled down the blinders, her gaze was drawn up towards the sky. The moon shone full and bright overhead, almost pulsing with its full glow. Ezio jumped up on the windowsill to join her, stroking his body against her arm as a silent demand to be petted. She complied, of course. Anya would give him all the pets whenever he asked for it.
"A full moon, huh… Either I'll be getting one of those special dreams or I won't be sleeping much at all." Anya looked down at Ezio with a soft smile, cupping his head as her thumb stroked over his forehead. "What do you think, huh? You gonna help me get a nice dream this time?"
Ezio didn't reply verbally, but he did follow hot on Anya's heels as she completed her nightly routine. And once she laid down in bed, the cat patrolled along the edges, then laid down right next to her head. Anya curled her arms around her cat, using both hands to scratch Ezio's chin and cheeks, relaxing as he started to purr at the attention.
"Maybe I should look up some fanfics… I bet there's tons of good ones out there." Anya mumbled to Ezio in the dark with a small smile. "Maybe redemption ones for the beasts… Or maybe ones where the script is flipped… Or where Dark Enchantress is beaten earlier so she doesn't become a witch… I don't know enough about White Lily cookie, but I've seen a lot of people be upset about her."
Anya gently nuzzled into Ezio's fur, then settled back against her pillow with a soft sigh. "There's still a lot I don't know… I hope I can get to the details of it soon. Shadow Milk is such a funny little chaos gremlin."
She pet Ezio for a little while longer, then settled down to try and fall asleep. Her cat continued to be a warm and comforting presence in her curled arms, his soft purrs lulling her into sleep.
The moon shone bright behind the closed blinders.
Nature… Birdsong, wind. She heard it as she started to become aware. She was walking, somewhere, with a purpose. Her gaze was hazy around the edges, the world around her moving as she moved.
Trees… Trees were nice. She liked trees. Anya smiled slightly as she looked around her, the forest getting a little sharper in return. This… This was nice. She felt warm, full in a strange way. She kept on walking with the nature surrounding her. It was a little darker forest than what she was used to. Music… Soft strings, that would make it better. A soft violin started to play, unknown where it came from. It wrapped around her in a soft blanket, harmonizing with the sounds around her to make her walk peaceful.
Ah… A dream. This was nice. She wanted to continue this. She didn't feel tired, just drifting between the trees and enjoying herself. No pesky bugs to annoy her, no need to look out for other people. Just her and nature. Nice… comfortable…
She could faintly hear voices, something that broke through the music around her. But she didn't recognize it, so it wasn't a family member or friend who wanted to join her. She rarely dreamed of strangers…
"-coming from here! White Lily-? Uh… H-Hello…?"
Anya stopped when the voice was heard more clearly now. She looked around for a few moments, the music fading more into the background. She then saw something that made her tilt her head slightly, because looking at it from another angle sometimes changed it.
A cookie… A gingerbread cookie… With blue button eyes, icing arches as hair that shifted as if it was alive. Brown… It was familiar. It felt familiar. Anya turned towards the gingerbread cookie, her vision still fuzzy around the edges. It was… familiar. And fascinating how the red icing that made up its mouth moved to form a wide smile. And its arm moved to scratch the back of its head.
"Hehe, s-sorry, I thought you were someone else. Have you seen another cookie somewhere around here?"
When the gingerbread cookie said this, more cookies emerged from the bushes behind it. 4 cookies. Or, at least, they were shaped like cookies… Red cookie with a firm frown… One dressed like a strawberry… A short one with a crown… One with a scarf and starry pointy hat…
Anya started to smile when the pieces fell into place. Cookies… They were THE cookies. From cookie run kingdom! Anya didn't think she'd gotten deep enough in the game to dream of it, this was cool. Her full moon dreams always let her see more than usual.
She was an arm length away from the gingerbread cookie with a single step, looking closer at him and fascinated by how his icing moved into a different expression. "You're Gingerbrave…! I thought you looked familiar…"
It was a little hard to talk, but it was the best way to interact with dream characters. They always had different reactions to it. This Gingerbrave flinched backwards with a surprised shout, tripping into Strawberry cookie and making them both fall over. Anya just let out a light laugh at the scene, so clumsy.
"Chili Pepper Cookie…" Anya noted with a smile towards Chili pepper. Something that made the red cookie tense up. "Strawberry Cookie…" She looked at the cookie who was starting to sit up with Gingerbrave. She was staring at Anya with wide eyes. "Wizard Cookie…" Anya looked at the wizard of the group. Something that made his body tense up and flinch back similarly to Gingerbrave. "And Custard cookie the third..." Anya looked down at the shortest in the group with a wide smile.
"Oh, I see my name has already spread far and wide!" Custard Cookie III said with a bright grin and puffed out his chest. "It is indeed I, my faithful subject! Your future king. It is a pleasure to meet you."
"Pleasure's all mine…" Anya did a polite courtesy to the young cookie to play along with the game. That's when she noticed her dress… Oh, she had a dress. And her arms… They were nubs. Cookie nubs. She spun around to try and get a better look, this dream made her a cookie… Not too surprising. She'd been a fairy before.
"How do you know our names, huh!? You're here to arrest us?!" Chili Pepper cookie cried out as she pointed a dagger towards her. And that just made her confused, because weren't they usually kind to Anya in return…? That knife looked sharp… But it wouldn't hurt her. It couldn't hurt in a dream.
"I know you cause… I know you…" Anya answered with a smile in return to Chili Pepper. "Who're you looking for?" Anya turned the question towards Gingerbrave. He had mentioned that he'd been looking for someone… right? Maybe that was the dream quest.
"Oh, uh…" Ginger brave quickly shook his head and gave Anya a small smile in return. "We're looking for a cookie who smells like lilies! White Lily Cookie. Or, technically we are looking for a choco werehound brute, but I just thought that the music I heard might've been her! Sorry for the mix up."
Music… Ah, yeah, Anya liked the music in this place. It was too quiet otherwise. Choco werehound…
"Ooh, then you're really early." Anya nodded slightly, then looked around the area. It was getting a little easier to speak, but not that much. It was normal. "The corrupted bear jellies… White Lily should be…?" Anya tilted her head slightly. Where was White Lily…? Did she disappear and reconvene…? It was hard to think.
"S-Sorry to interrupt you in your thinking, Miss." Wizard Cookie stepped forward. He held his staff in a tight grip, his gaze firm as he looked at Anya. "But I need to ask. Are you… really a cookie…? Your magic aura is… unlike anything I've ever felt before."
Gingerbrave was about to say something, but Wizard Cookie interrupted him by saying 'later', still looking at Anya. Anya tilted her head slightly, just to see if the tension in Wizard cookie would disappear. But it didn't… Huh.
"I'm a cookie." Anya held forward her nub arms and waved them lightly back and forth. "See?"
"Then, what's your name? Since you seem to know ours, it's only right we know yours in return?" Wizard cookie continued to be tense, but Anya didn't understand why.
She let out a soft hum, maybe Wizard cookie was a special character. Like Spider-Pig had been in another.
"I'm Ą̶̝̼̻̟̟̤̭̱̱̙̭̘̖͕̗̤͍͓̠̩̫̺̖̙̳͎̻̳̖͙̩͙̮̳̘̃̋͒̓̔̅͂̍͌̕͘n̶̫̳̣̻̖̼͕̒̍́̓̎͛͒̒̐̕̚y̸̢͓̲͍̳̙̥̦̻̩͙̗̼̞͉͔̣͉̝̭̼̪͔̮̿̓͆̈́͗͆͌̓͂̀͑̐̑̏̂̎̏̀̃͘͜͜͠͝͠ͅȃ̸̳͔̳͔̮͔̰̭͙̣̜̱̗͕̥̎̈́̐̿̔͗͑̈́̆̄͆̂́̑͂̾̅̕͝͠."
There was a strange screech sound that erupted from the clearing when she spoke her name, something that made the trees around her tremble and the cookies in front of her to flinch in pain. The soft music stopped, and the rest of the forest sounds did too.
Huh… So her real name was forbidden? That… hadn't happened before. She looked down at herself, maybe if she saw how she looked, she could come up with a name in this dream. Her gaze was drawn to the side and suddenly, there was a cookie there. A cookie that had the same dress as her… White skirt part, brown top part with white puffy sleeves. A sort of light dough, like unbaked bread, with specks of brown in it. Blue eyes, really pretty but sorta glassy. And her hair was swirly… It reminded her of a cinnamon bun. But a little darker… And the edges of the hair sort of faded out rather than have a clear end to where it stopped.
"Oooh…" Anya walked around the image, smiling to herself. "So this is what I look like…" She reached up to gently pet the image's head, but she could barely feel the texture. That's just how it is in dreams. But it was soft. Soft, roll… Oh!
"Cinnamon Roll." Anya turned away from the image of herself to focus on the other cookies again. And the image disappeared when she wasn't focused on it anymore. "Call me Cinnamon Roll. Cause that's what I am!"
Anya let out a soft giggle at her own joke. A precious cinnamon roll who can do nothing wrong, ever, in their entire life. Not that she planned to do anything bad, she liked her dreams to be nice and filled with adventure rather than death and stuff.
"R-Right…" Wizard Cookie nodded slightly, then started to push against Gingerbrave's shoulder to go back towards the bushes. "Well, we best be off! It was nice to meet you, Cinnamon Roll Cookie. We got bear jellies to save and bad guys to chase after, you know how it is."
Strange… They usually invited her to join, not immediately walk away. Was Anya supposed to do something else in this dream then? And not go with them? That seemed strange, she usually stuck with those she wanted to be around.
So when they all started to walk away, all of them saying goodbye to Anya, she tilted her head slightly. They were supposed to invite her to come with. To beat up the bad guys.
What would a cake hound taste like…? They were sweets. Everything was sweets here… Could she taste in this dream?
"A-A-Actually, on second thought, w-why don't you join us!?" Wizard Cookie was quick to turn back around, his eyes forming crescents in a smile since his mouth was hidden by his large scarf. Like Kakashi…! "Y-You uh… S-Seem lost!"
Anya smiled as she went up to join the group of cookies. "I want to defeat cake hounds. It sounds fun."
"Really? Are you strong?" Gingerbrave looked between Wizard Cookie and Anya a few times, seemingly a little confused.
"Mnhm. Nothing can hurt me." Anya nodded with her smile widening. "I wanna help. You're all heroes, after all."
"Hehe, thank you, Miss Cinnamon Roll!" Custard Cookie III said with a bright smile. "And while I can proclaim myself a king due to my noble bloodline, I'm not sure if I can proclaim myself a hero just yet."
"Of course you can." Anya said to the young cookie with her smile widening into a grin. "And you'll take good care of your kingdom."
"You think so?" This excited the young cookie as he leaned closer to Anya. "Then I just have to work hard to prove your faith in me as your king remains true!"
"My faith in you will never falter." Anya let out a soft, happy giggle. She then let Custard Cookie III talk about what they'd been up to so far. With the string music in the background returning to create a nice, calm atmosphere.
Anya wondered how she'd be able to fight in this world… She hoped it was through magic. Wizard cookie had mentioned that she had a magical aura…? That must be a hint for what type of powers she had in this dream, so magic! The magic in cookie run kingdom seemed really flashy and cool. She'd know for sure when she participated in a fight. Maybe she could use mind bending magic. That would be cool.
She hoped she could have this dream consecutively, to create a full plot line this time. They always seemed to break off without a conclusion when she dreamed of being in another world. Full Moon dreams were the best.
"Wizard Cookie, what's up…?" Gingerbrave asked his friend, hanging back a little from Cinnamon Roll Cookie and Custard Cookie III as he looked at his friend. He'd been unnaturally tense since they met this new cookie… And sure, she seemed a bit strange, but she didn't seem like a bad cookie.
"That Cookie… is not normal…" Wizard Cookie's hands trembled as she gripped harder onto his staff. "Space Distortion… Real Illusions… All without incantations. That thing when she spoke her name and the pressure of her magic is-…" Wizard Cookie visibly shivered, then quickly shook his head.
"We… better keep an eye on her… A close eye…"
"She doesn't seem bad." Gingerbrave looked towards Cinnamon Roll with a smile, because she was talking with Custard Cookie III with a smile on her face. Chili Pepper was right behind them, her gaze mostly focused on Cinnamon Roll. "She just seems like she wants to help out."
"I-I donno…" Strawberry Cookie spoke up in a hesitant voice and curled up nervously in her hoodie. "Maybe she's not bad but… How does she know who we are…? We've never met her before."
"Come on, guys. Relax! This is just a new opportunity to make a new friend." Gingerbrave patted both of his friends on their shoulders. "We can be a bit more careful, sure, but let's just get to know her. Okay? She seems like a good cookie."
Wizard Cookie looked at him, then let out a loud sigh. "Alright, alright… Just-… Be careful. That magic pressure when we started to walk away was… frightening."
"Really? I didn't feel anything." Gingerbrave tilted his head curiously towards Wizard Cookie.
"For your sake… I hope you won't have to." Wizard cookie then walked a little faster to join Chili Pepper. Gingerbrave and Strawberry Cookie looked at each other. With Strawberry giving him a small shrug in return.
Right, they'll be careful. But Gingerbrave was still excited to meet a new cookie to be friends with! She might be a little strange, but you could never have too many friends!
Anya liked this forest. And she liked Custard Cookie III more than she thought she would. Neither of these cookies were her favorite cookies, but they were the hero group. She was supposed to be with them a lot. And Custard seemed more happy to talk with her than the others did, talking about their kingdom and how he would take care of it.
Anya had kept herself in the back of the group the first time when cakehounds arrived to try and bite them. Just watching how they fight. They really looked like heroes… And her surroundings were a little easier to focus on now.
When things around her started to flicker, that's when she'd know she'd wake up soon. But hopefully she'll have this dream again. She liked the consecutive ones.
When the next wave of cakehounds arrived, she decided to try something. She always enjoyed using magic in her dreams, and since Wizard Cookie said she had magic pressure, she should be able to use it. So when the group shifted into formation in preparation to defeat the hounds, Anya lifted a hand to point her palm towards them.
Let's see… There were a lot of them. Could she make a black hole to destroy them all at once?
Like usual, when she wished it it appeared. A small dot of gravity appeared above the cake hounds, pulling them in despite their desperate clawing against the ground. Lifted up into the air and the confection they were made of was flung through the air as their bodies were crushed. Anya smiled with a soft sound of awe, then let the black hole disappear before it started to pull in things she didn't want to destroy.
"That was cool." Anya let out a light laugh and smiled towards Gingerbrave, Strawberry, Wizard and Chili Pepper who had all turned around to stare at her with wide eyes. "Cool and easy. I liked that."
"W-Was that-… Dark Moon magic…?" Wizard Cookie asked, his voice trembling slightly as he was holding onto his staff.
Anya let out a soft hum and shrugged. "I don't think so, I just did it." Anya looked down at her hands. Her cookie hands. So destructive spells worked, maybe she could do healing ones too? That would be nice. Then, she could destroy and heal however she wanted!
The thought made her smile widen as their group continued forward. And while Anya let the heroes be heroes by not taking out all the enemies, she still helped cause it was fun. A finger gun there and one collapsed dead before it reached the group. A snap of her fingers and another was pushed away from Strawberry when it was about to bite her. Anya liked feeling cool in her dreams, but she also enjoyed seeing the main characters be cool. It's one of the reasons she loved these dreams.
She got to see their journey from another perspective. And it was nice.
A bit of cakehound blood ended up on her arm. Or jam? Cream? She wasn't sure what their anatomy was or what she should call it. She scooped it up with the end of her hand and licked it off. Hm, no taste… Maybe another time. At least she could hear and see well.
"Oh, I smell lilies…!" Strawberry Cookie cried out as she perked up a little.
"Then White Lily Cookie should be somewhere around here!" Gingerbrave nodded and started to look around. Then turned back to smile at Anya. "She's the friend I was looking for before! I think you'll like her."
"She's lovely." Anya agreed with a small nod, still walking in the back with Custard Cookie III.
"Have you met her before?" Strawberry Cookie asked with a slight tilt of her head.
"No." Anya's smile widened. "But she's special. Like you."
"Oh! So you know her name like you know ours?" Custard Cookie III asked with a wide smile, pointing towards himself and the others with his fancy stick.
"Yeah. I know a bunch of cookies." Anya nodded towards Custard Cookie III, smile widening into a grin. "You will get to know them too."
Whatever else Custard Cookie III said next, she ignored. Because now, a huuuuge dragon bone came into view… It made Anya stare up at it with wide eyes and mouth slightly open. That… was a lot larger as a cookie than on a screen…
She was in front of the skull in an instant, standing on the edge of the landmass to stare up at the skull. This also made her think… Because everything was made of sweets. So how was there a skeleton here?
There was a brief flash of light to her left, but she ignored it, completely focused on the dragon skull as she walked closer to touch one of its teeth. Anya couldn't feel its surface, not properly, but it was sort of… rough. Was this like a sugar cube? If she could taste in this dream, she'd have tried it. There were noises behind her, but those didn't matter much. Not when she went deeper into the skull to see how high the 'ceiling' was. It made Anya think of those huge dino bones at the museums she used to visit as a kid… This was so cool.
"Hey Cinnamon Roll Cookie!" Oh… Oh, right, her name in this Cookie world. She turned towards the voice and saw Gingerbrave waving at her from outside the skull. And next to him was a new cookie. One that Anya recognized. White Lily Cookie's hair looked pretty, braided and neat. And as Anya's gaze met hers, White Lily's eyes widened slightly.
"Come on! Let me introduce you!"
Anya stepped away from the sugar skull and took only a few steps before she was with the group again. She aimed a small smile towards White Lily Cookie and gave her a small nod.
"Hi. You can call me Cinnamon Roll Cookie. Cause that's what I am!" Anya let out another soft giggle. Cinnamon Roll, she was liking that name. And she was for sure a cinnamon roll, for sure. Has never and will never do anything wrong in her entire life. She wouldn't misbehave in real life. Only in dreams, of course.
"I-I'm White Lily Cookie…" The soft spoken cookie had a tight grip around her staff as she looked at Anya. "Have we-… Have we met before…? You feel… familiar."
"Huh? But didn't you say you hadn't met before, Cinnamon Roll Cookie?"
Gingerbrave's question was valid. But also unnecessary. It just made Anya laugh, because sometimes dreams just don't make sense.
"The world is weird! A first for me could be many to you. And the opposite." Anya turned towards Gingerbrave, still smiling while clasping her hands behind her back. "I've met you a bunch. But you met me just recently."
"First for you…?" White Lily cookie mumbled, a little confused.
Anya blinked. Her vision was getting fuzzy… Trees were flickering in and out in the corner of her vision. By the next blink, she could barely see of feel anything.
"Oh… I'm goin' back…" Anya mumbled slightly. She aimed a smile towards the cookies in front of her. "Seeing you again… would be nice…"
When she blinked next, she didn't feel herself have a body any more. And after a few more moments, Anya could hear and feel the gentle tugging of claws against her duvet.
Her eyes opened slowly and she saw Ezio sit beside her on the bed, his paw lightly scratching against her duvet. Just enough for his claws to get caught on it and pull it back slightly before getting free. Anya let out a soft huff at her cat's antics and reached up to gently pet his head.
"Yeah, I know… Lemme just-…" She reached out for her phone, unlocked it and squinted her eyes at the brightness. 6:30… A bit too early but oh well. She opened up her notes app, going over to the "dreams" folder. There were many notes in the folder. All ranging from different media, all detailing dreams she's had about them. Both normal ones and "stranger" ones. Ones that had a consecutive plot line, always starting during a full moon.
She opened up a new note and titled it "Cookie Run Kingdom". Then wrote down what she'd experienced. How she went by Cinnamon Roll Cookie, a vague description of what she looked like and what she'd done with Gingerbread and his friends. She could feel the details of the dream already slipping away as she finished her notes. And once she was done, she could dedicate all her attention to her lovely cat, stroking along his head and back long enough to coax the cat to curl up by her head again. And she was more than happy to use both her hands to pet his head just how Ezio liked it.
"I wonder if I'll get more of those…" Anya mumbled to Ezio and lightly nuzzled into the fur of her cat's back. "Maybe a long adventure like in Avatar… Or a shorter one like in One Piece… Being Isekaid must suck… I'm glad they're just dreams. I couldn't stand leaving you… And I still get to have fun in them."
Anya smiled widely at the loud purrs coming from her cuddly cat, petting him for a little while longer before she shifted to scroll on her phone. One hand still focused on petting Ezio's head.
The memory of the dream was almost completely gone by the time Anya started her day. She had studies to do.
Everyone cried out in surprise when Cinnamon Roll Cookie disappeared into particles soon after she'd said she was 'going back', whatever that meant. Gingerbrave saw these sparkles travel up towards the sky, following it with wide eyes.
"Did she-? Did she come from the sky!? Woaaah, is there a kingdom in the sky somewhere?" He turned towards Wizard Cookie with a wide, hopeful smile.
"Not.. That I know of." Wizard Cookie tightened his hold on his staff in unease, then turned towards White Lily Cookie. She was still staring at where that strange cookie had once been with her gaze far away from any of them. "White Lily Cookie, are you alright?"
"Oh, I-… Yes, I'm alright." White Lily cookie looked at Wizard Cookie with a brief nod, then looked back at the spot Cinnamon Roll Cookie once had been. "I just… Got this feeling. That I have seen her before…"
"R-Really? Is she famous?" Strawberry Cookie asked while fiddling with her hoodie. "Cinnamon Roll Cookie… really makes an impression on you too."
Wizard Cookie nodded slightly in agreement. The way she used spatial magic, possibly the forbidden Dark Moon Magic, without any kind of effort on her part also shows she's a very powerful mage. And the magic aura around her was… Strange and massive. Wizard Cookie still got shivers whenever he thought back to when they'd tried to walk away from her… Not a bad cookie, but 100% dangerous…
"I-… I was surprised when she appeared next to me. But my binding magic didn't take hold of her at all…" White Lily Cookie looked around at their group. "Do any of you know where she studied magic?"
"No. She didn't give much explanation to it either." Wizard Cookie shook his head with a frown. "She is powerful, that's for certain."
"Oh, hey, the music's gone." Gingerbrave said as he looked around them. "I didn't even notice there had been music until now… That must've come from Cinnamon Roll Cookie!"
"Music…" White Lily mumbled with a soft frown while placing a hand against her chin. She then shook her head and smiled towards the group. "If we do see her again, I'd love to ask her what type of magic she studies. The way she waved her spells was… enchanting. As if the world worked with her rather than Cinnamon Roll Cookie enforcing her own will upon it."
"We get it, we get it. Powerful magic stuff blah blah." Chili Pepper Cookie said with a huff while crossing her arms. "Can we just get going already? I still need more treasures!"
And with Chili Pepper's encouragement, the group was on the move once more. With Custard Cookie III loudly proclaiming that he'd bestow a title on Cinnamon Roll Cookie when they meet again. White Lily Cookie looked up towards the sky, a quiet wind blowing through the area as she did.
"Cinnamon Roll Cookie… What are you…?" White Lily mumbled softly to herself before she went to catch up with the group of cookies. Those thoughts would be better spent elsewhere. She still needed to find her own lost memories on who she is before she tried to chase a vaguely familiar cookie.
