The Plan

Summary:

Citlali tries her best to hide these feelings for Lumine, but a certain grandson of hers has other plans.

Work Text:

Citlali paced back and forth as there was only one thing occupying her mind right now, and it was that blonde traveller. Ever since she met her, she was the one her mind went to more often than not, and that’s what was causing her current problem. Whenever she thought about her, she could feel her own heart skip a beat and could feel her face heat up. Normally, she would be pretty good at hiding what she was really feeling, but that traveller made it harder and harder to do that. Citlali shook her head as she tried to dismiss these feelings. “Ugh! I’m acting like a teenage girl right now, and I hate it! I can’t let anyone see me like this. Especially her...”

“Who are you talking about, Granny?”

“Ahh!!” Citlali nearly jumped from her skin as the sudden sound of someone’s voice, but she calmed down once she noticed who it was. “Ororon! Don’t sneak up on me like that!”

“I don’t think I can sneak up on you even if I tried.”

“Never mind that, ugh...” Citlali didn’t show it, but she was sort of grateful that Ororon showed up since now she’ll be preoccupied with him instead of thinking about that rather cute blonde-haired girl. “Argh! What am I thinking!”

“Is something the matter, Granny?”

“Huh?” Citlali realized she must have spoken that part out loud by accident, so she quickly composed herself. “Oh! I’m just having this problem with this with my... clairvoyance.”

“Really? A clairvoyance problem?”

“Yes...” Citlali will admit that it wasn’t the best lie she could have come up with, but it was better than him finding out the truth.

“Okay. I didn’t think you would have a problem with clairvoyance.” Citlali was at least relieved that Ororon bought that terrible lie.

“By the way, Granny, I wanted to ask you something.”

“Go ahead. If there’s a problem you are having, I’ll happily help you.” Citlali was happy that the conversation was successfully steered away from her, but the next thing to come out of Ororon’s mouth completely shocked her.

“When are you and other Granny “taking your relationship to the next level”?”

“Huh!?”

“Is that not what one does when they have romantic feelings for another?”

“HUH!?” Ororon noticed that Citlali’s face went completely red after he asked his question. It was a rare side of her that he had never seen before.

“It-it-it’s not like that! I-I, where did you even learn about this? Also, what have I told you about calling other people that?”

“I’m sorry, Granny. Also, I asked around.”

“Please don’t tell me the others know about this?”

“No, you don’t have to worry about that.”

“How did you even figure out that I...”

“With how you are acting. Plus, you have been reading those romance novels a lot more lately.”

“What?! I thought I was good at hiding those.”

“So...”

“F-Fine! Okay! I-I do like her! You better not tell anyone about this! Especially her, got it?”

“Don’t worry, Granny. She won’t hear it from me.”

“Good. Wait? What do you mean by that?” Before Citlali could question Ororon any further, because once again she heard a rather familiar voice coming from behind her.

“You like someone?” Citlali froze up at that voice, and she could only hope that maybe her mind was playing tricks on her. That hope was dashed away when Paimon showed up from the corner of her eye.

“Citlali? Are you okay?” Paimon waved in front of Citlali’s eyes to try to get her attention, but that didn’t work. It was at that moment she noticed how red her face looked, and she started to get a little worried. “Citlali, you’re not sick, are you? You look unwell. Wait, you’re not drunk, are you?”

“Thank you, Paimon. I’ll let that last comment slide.” Citlali internally thanked Paimon for getting her out of this situation. “Uh, y-yes! I haven’t been feeling well lately. I must have been overworking myself lately.”

“That’s no good. You shouldn’t get yourself sick like that.”

“You’re right. I think I’ll go home and rest.” Citlali said as she quickly bolted past the two while avoiding direct eye contact with Lumine.

“Paimon hopes she’ll get better quickly,” Paimon said as she flew over to Lumine, who just watched Citlali leave. Paimon noticed a rather sly little smile on her face, and she couldn’t help but wonder why she was smiling. “What are you smiling about?”

“Oh, nothing.”

“Oh, well, anyway, what do you think she was talking about before? Something about liking someone?” Paimon gasped a little at the thought of Citlali liking someone. “Who do you think it is?”

“Who knows?” Lumine simply shrugged, trying to act nonchalantly.

“Ooh, this kinda has Paimon feeling a little excited. Honestly, Paimon never thought Citlali of all people would have someone she would be interested in.”

“It was a surprise for me as well,” Ororon said.

“Ooh, Paimon wonders who it could be?” Paimon said.

“Yes, I wonder...” Both Lumine and Ororon exchanged a look, and Ororon simply nodded.

“Why does Paimon feel like the only one who’s out of the loop here?” Paimon said after noticing the way Lumine and Ororon were acting.

“Don’t worry about it, Paimon. It’s nothing really.” Paimon crossed her arms, not entirely convinced by them, but decided to just let it go. Paimon floated over to Ororon and Lumine to get an answer from him.

“So, what is it that you wanted to, Ororon?”

“Right. This is something only Granny could do? I need your help, Granny. Can I count on you for this?”

“Of course! Anything for my favourite grandson!”

“Thanks, Granny. I knew that I could count on you.” Ororon began to explain his plan, which mainly involved Lumine running into Citlali a lot. A lot of it seemed to be getting into situations that would happen in those light novels sold by Yae Publishing House, both Paimon and Lumine realized.

“This has to be the strangest request we've ever received,” Paimon said.

“Hmm, I love messing with Citlali, so I’m in!”

“You may love messing with her, but Paimon’s not about to face Citlali’s wrath. So count Paimon out.”

“Hmm, I see. I’ll have to change the plan a little, but it should still work.”

“Paimon’s not about to be an accomplice to whatever this is if you get caught.”

So, with that, they enacted their plan of getting into these situations with Citlali, and it was working out so far. The first part of the plan wasn’t really a part of the plan, but Lumine really wanted to do it. It took some convincing on her part, but she was able to get Citlali to agree to a mind-sharing spell. It took a lot of effort not to think about anything that would give away that the spell was active. But she was also able to distract her enough to forget the spell was active. So the actual start of the plan began as she started to get into these situations that Ororon mentioned. Which made her realize, after pulling off a few of them, but was he trying to get both of them to start dating? She wasn’t against it, no, not at all. In fact, she was all for it. Citlali’s one of the cutest girls she came across in her adventures. She loved the way that she wasn’t always honest with her feelings. The way she overthought certain situations, like when they first started sharing each other's thoughts. All of her was too cute for her to handle sometimes. But that wasn’t what was important right now.

“Um, T-Traveller?” Citlali’s face was slowly turning red at the situation she was in. Right now, her back was against the wall while Lumine had her hand firmly planted on the wall next to her. Citlali could feel her heart racing from how close she was to the blonde traveller. “W-What is going on?! I don’t know what is happening... Damn you, Traveller! Your face is way too attractive! And it’s so close.”

“So cute.” Lumine couldn’t help but think.

“H-Hey, who are you calling cute?!” Citlali stopped when she realized something that seemed off to her. Citlali realized that she didn’t see Lumine’s mouth move when she called her cute. “W-Wait, so these past two days. You’ve heard all my thoughts?”

“Whoops, I guess the cat's out of the bag. Uh, yep.” Citlali’s face went completely red after she realized all those thoughts she had about the Traveller were revealed to that very person.

“Agh! I can’t believe it! How did I forget something so simple!”

“I love that about you.” Citlali went quiet at the sudden compliment. “Well, since you can’t hide it anymore. I know how much you like me. Do you want to start dating?”

“Okay...” That was the quietest word she had heard Citlali utter since she knew her. Lumine smiled while she held Citlali’s hand in hers. Citlali tried to calm her heart down, but that proved more difficult than she realized. I guess holding your crush, now girlfriend’s, hand made that quite difficult.

“Man, you’re cute.”

“Hey, just because it’s your thoughts doesn’t mean you can think them.”

“Granny, other Granny. Was the plan a success?”

“Hmm, yes, I’d say so.”

“Wait a minute.” Citlali realized that something did seem off about the past couple of days. She did find it more suspicious that she was running into the Traveller a lot more lately. "Alright, mister. What plan are you talking about?"

“Uh oh. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned the plan.”

“And you! Why did you go along with one of his idiotic plans?”

“Well, because my favourite grandson asked me, that’s why.” Both Lumine and Ororon gave each other a thumbs up as Citlali let out a frustrated groan. She realized that these two were going to frustrate her to no end.
