Chainsaw Man R – Part 2 Reimagined

Summary:

What if we could go back to the beginning?
In a world where Chainsaw Man isn’t a hindrance to the government, but a tool for mass manipulation.
A world where not caring about mistakes, as long as your heart is in the right place, is nothing more than a cruel trap... and Asa comes to realize that.
A world where Denji reveals himself as Chainsaw Man... and people hate him for it.
Would they still be able to dream?

As the R in the name suggests, this is an alternate route of the Chainsaw Man Academy Arc, starting from chapter 98 and ending with the story's conclusion!
An alternate take on the story. With long-buried mysteries finally brought to light and iconic characters making their return, this is a story about Denji and Asa's tragic love, their journey toward maturity, and the end of the world as they know it — With a touch of fan love... and plenty of violence along the way.

On one side, an ordinary life. On the other, the starter.
Which one will weigh more?

Chapter 1: PREFACE - WHAT COMES FIRST...

Chapter Text

PREFACE

It is interesting to imagine an alternative reality where the events of a story unfold differently. This exercise becomes even more engaging when there is a strong attachment to the characters involved.

With that in mind, I believe it is important not only to present these warnings and contextualizations at the very beginning, but also to incorporate them into the work itself. With that said, here are a few points of vital importance:

THIS IS A WORK OF FANFICTION AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN PROFESSIONALLY

I am not the creator nor the rights holder of CHAINSAW MAN. This work has no profit purpose and uses characters, concepts, and narrative elements originally created by sensei Tatsuki Fujimoto.
From beginning to end, this is a fanfiction work, developed voluntarily, with care and dedication by an amateur writer, also counting on suggestions from other fans equally passionate about the series.

THIS IS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE AUTHOR OR THE ENDING OF THE WORK

My goal is for this work to be understood for what it is: a voluntary creation, made with effort, good faith, and a lot of care.
Therefore, it is important to reinforce that this work is not, under any circumstances, an attempt to correct or improve the original work of Tatsuki Fujimoto. I have deep respect and admiration for the author, and my intention is simply to explore an alternative reality — a new story, with different paths and destinies for already known and beloved characters.
Thus, I ask that, throughout the reading, the proposal of this work be taken into consideration: a narrative made with appreciation for the characters and the community, and not a comparison or an attempt to surpass the original work.

THIS WORK DOES NOT FOLLOW FUJIMOTO SENSEI’S VISION — IT IS A PERSONAL INTERPRETATION

As mentioned, this is a reimagining of “Part 2” of CHAINSAW MAN, starting from the events following chapter 97 of the manga.
For this reason, nothing that originally happens after this point is considered canonical within this version. Some personalities have been reinterpreted, plots have been altered, and the tone of the narrative may, and will, diverge from the original work.
This fanfiction does not seek to reproduce, correct, or adapt Tatsuki Fujimoto’s vision. On the contrary, it is an authorial proposal with its own identity, built from a personal perspective on the characters and their journeys.
If at any point the story seems to diverge from the original tone or message, this is intentional. It is a fundamental creative choice for this new approach.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE STORY? AND WHY ARE THE FIRST CHAPTERS SIMILAR TO THE ORIGINAL?

First and foremost, this is a story about growth — especially for Denji and Asa. Both are characters deeply marked by their experiences, with Denji having a particularly painful journey throughout “Part 1.”
Here, the focus is on their healing processes: their traumas, internal conflicts, distorted beliefs, and personal discoveries — including the development of affection and love.
This is not a work with excessively complex or philosophical ambitions, but rather an fanfiction that seeks to offer an alternative, sensitive, and satisfying outcome for these characters, while maintaining a coherent structure that respects striking elements of the original work, such as Hell, Reze, Kishibe, among others — and a lot of Asaden!
As for the initial similarity with the chapters of “Part 2,” this comes from a conscious narrative structure decision. There is a consensus among fans that the beginning of this phase presents a very well-constructed pacing and dynamic of relationship between Asa and Yoru and Asa and Denji, This provides an extremely solid foundation for the events and happenings that the story will unfold. Therefore, there is no reason for these moments to be reinvented, but rather slightly altered.
It would be fair to compare this to the beginning of Fate Stay Night, which is relatively similar across all three alternate routes in the anime (Realta Nua, UBW, and Heaven's Feel), before the story diverges.
Additionally, it would be uncomfortable to require the reader to interrupt the reading of the original manga in order to start this alternative version.

For that reasons, the narrative was presented in a continuous way, considering only the events up to chapter 97 as its base.

WHAT IS THE RELEASE SCHEDULE?

That’s a bit hard to define. While the story is only written once I already have the full arc, and all of its chapters, planned out, and it is technically possible for me to release up to three or four chapters per week, it ultimately depends on my daily routine outside of this project.

What I can guarantee is that I will keep posting as frequently as I possibly can.

With all of this clarified, there is nothing more to add. You are now invited to dive into this new reality we have created with great care.
I sincerely thank you for your time and for being here so far. I hope you enjoy the reading.

  See you soon.
