Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

In this world, people learned one thing very early—
night was dangerous.

When the sun went down, monsters came out.

They wandered through forests, across plains, and sometimes right up to the edges of human settlements. No one really knew where they came from. People just knew they had to be ready. So they built walls. They sharpened weapons. They trained themselves to fight, night after night, just to survive until morning.

But over time, it became clear—

monsters weren’t the only thing to fear.

Humans were worse.

Not because they were stronger, but because they were smarter. They knew how to plan, how to build, how to take. And most of all, they always wanted more.

At first, people came together. They formed small groups, then larger ones. Villages turned into cities, and cities became kingdoms. Each one claimed land as their own, building something they could call theirs.

But it didn’t last.

Having land wasn’t enough. Having power wasn’t enough.

They wanted more.

And when there was nothing left to take from the world, they started taking from each other.

Wars broke out.

Not one or two, but many. Kingdoms fought for control, for resources, for pride. Battles went on for years. Cities burned, people died, and everything they had built slowly fell apart.

In the end, no one really won.

There was nothing left worth winning.

So the fighting stopped—not because they forgave each other, but because they had no choice. If they kept going, there wouldn’t be anything left of the world at all.

That was a hundred years ago.

Things are different now.

People rebuilt. New kingdoms rose from what was left behind. This time, they tried to be better—or at least more careful.

There are five kingdoms now.

In the south lies the Massalia Kingdom. It’s a harsh place—mostly sand, dry land, and heat that feels like it never goes away. Crops barely grow there, and living isn’t easy. But the people of Massalia are built for it. They’re known as beast-humans—not entirely like ordinary humans. They’re faster, stronger, and have a natural instinct for fighting. And even if their land isn’t good for farming, it holds something else—rich deposits of gold. Because of that, Massalia is far from poor.

To the west is the Earl Kingdom. Unlike the others, it doesn’t sit on land at all. Their cities are built beneath the sea, protected by a massive barrier that keeps the water out. Outside that barrier, strange sea creatures swim through the deep. Inside, their people live in a world few have ever seen. Guards watch the borders closely. No one gets in without being noticed.

Far across the world is the Aeralis Kingdom. It’s almost the complete opposite of Massalia. The land is full of life—tall trees, thick forests, and homes built high above the ground among the branches. At night, the place doesn’t go quiet. There’s music, lights, and the sound of people celebrating. It feels alive in a way most places don’t.

But beyond the forest, the land changes.

Mountains rise, covered in thick snow, leading toward the north.

There, hidden behind the cold, is the Aurorath Kingdom.

People don’t know much about it. They keep to themselves. No one really enters, and no one really leaves. Stories say strange things happen there, but no one can prove it. Still, the silence around Aurorath makes people uneasy.

And at the center of everything is the Lostivia Kingdom.

It’s the most advanced of them all. The oldest, too, according to most records. Their cities are carefully designed, their systems organized, and their progress unmatched. Trade, knowledge, and power all seem to lead back to Lostivia in one way or another.

If there’s a kingdom that sets the standard, it’s this one.

For now, the world is at peace.

But peace doesn’t mean the past is gone.

It just means people are waiting.

And like all stories, this one has a beginning.

It doesn’t start in the center of power, or in the middle of conflict.

It starts somewhere quieter—

in the forests of the Aeralis Kingdom.
