It was the night of April 27th, 2025. Crown Prince Wilhelm of Sweden was dreaming in his bed.
“The country needs you, not me” Simon had said.
Wilhelm woke with a start, hearing a notification on the nightstand, he checked it.
The notification read “Corruption scandal involving Royal family revealed”.
Wilhelm clicked the news article. It read:
“The Royal Court has erupted into scandal, as it was revealed that the Queen and many of her top advisors are engaged in insider trading and are taking bribes. The Queen reportedly accepted a Luxury Yacht from the Saudis, and Sold her stocks right before important crashes.”
Wilhelm sighed, and thought, so that is where the yacht came from…
He knew what he had to do, he walked down to his mother’s quarters, and opened the door.
“Wilhelm” his mother said.
“Mamma, I need to know if this story about you is true?”
His mother looked nervous, extremely angry and answered “You shouldn’t have asked, go back to bed”.
Wilhelm now knew his answer.
The morning came, and Wilhelm received even more bad news, crowds had formed demanding the abolishment of the Monarchy. The 21 year old, had never seen such anger on the people’s faces.
And then he made a decision, he turned on the camera and created an instagram reel.
He said “I was unaware of the situation as you were, my mother didn’t think it was of importance to tell me. That makes her untrustworthy and unfit for the throne, her corruption and lies were hidden even from her own son. If she can’t tell the truth to me, she can’t tell the truth to you and therefore she should abdicate”.
He clicked post…. He got Thousands of views in seconds.
His mother screamed from the other room, in anger.
He quickly left the royal place for Rosendals slott. On the way he called August, he’d need his cousin’s help.
“August, hello”
“Why did you do that Wilhelm!” August exclaimed .
“I am saving the monarchy… The only way it survives is without her!”
“She’s your mother!” August responded.
“You have no right to comment about making embarrassing videos about your relatives, August”
“Fair” he said.
When he got to Rosendals slott he brought in a reporter named Oskar Nilsson.
They were on the air in a couple of minuets.
“Your royal highness, thank you for your time” said Nilsson
“Tack”
“You have become very popular in the past couple years, especially in the last few hours for your outspoken nature on controversial topics” said Nielsen
“Mr. Nilsson, I don’t see what’s so controversial about hating Fascists abroad and corruption at home. The truth of the matter is our nation needs a head of state with the morals and the strength to stand up to bullies like Trump”.
“What would you do differently from your mother if you were king?” Asked Nilsson.
“I would start by turning a few palaces into homeless shelters, and selling a few to the government to turn into museums. The truth is we only need 3 palaces, the main one, this one, and one I want to build in Kalmar”
“Very enlightened of you, Your Royal highness” said Nilsson
“And that’s not all, I’d raise poor kids and give them a good life. And I would call a referendum on the monarchy at the end of the year, if I come to the throne now”.
“That’s very interesting, are your views in alignment with the SAP or the government?” Asked Nilsson.
“I don’t comment on politics in Sweden, however I have been allowed to comment on foreign politics. So that should give a clue into my beliefs”.
Nilsson said “Thank you very much Your Royal highness” and the broadcast ended.
A few days went by until it was the first of May . In the early morning , Wilhelm was woken up by his secretary who happened to be the same age as him, Lars Leijonhufvud. Lars, had been his off and on again boyfriend for quite some time. Now was one of the off periods. Lars was a best selling author unusual for his age and wrote a bestselling book about Friedrich the Great, one that had earned him the Crown Prince’s attention.
“Wille, Your mother abdicated ” said Lars.
“Dar- I mean Lars, get me to the Royal Palace immediately, and summon August.”
“August is on his way, Sir”
“She fled the country two hours ago after signing the abdication papers, you are now the King” said Lars
“I never wanted this but I accept for the good of the country”
