Work Text:

To some, today was a day of utmost importance, though Issei sometimes wished the others wouldn’t make such a big deal out of it. It was just his birthday, after all! Despite him claiming that he didn’t need any presents, the girls all insisted on giving him gifts regardless. The gifts in question weren’t just random trinkets, however. The girls somehow knew exactly what he would want, and all gave him things such as manga and movies that were in line with his… “tastes”. He was equal parts impressed and confused, though he supposed he shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

Later in the night after the girls had retired to their rooms, Kiba approached Issei, wanting to speak with him one-on-one. “Um, I know you said you didn’t want any presents, but I really wanted to do this for you. After all, you’ve done so much for me, and I wanted to return the favor.”

Issei awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck. “Look, I appreciate it, but you really didn’t-”

He stopped upon seeing what exactly Kiba had gotten him. “That’s… This is… It-It’s only been out for a few days and it’s sold out everywhere, how did you get this?!” he sputtered as he stared at Kiba’s gift, a copy of a brand new adult game.

Kiba blushed, recalling the adventure he went on to obtain the game. “Well, the short of it is that I found a store around here that specializes in… things like that. I suppose it’s a well-kept secret, as I only located it through multiple other people. I even went there in disguise, so I wouldn’t draw any unwanted attention. I like to believe nobody recognized me.”

“Kiba… you… you really did all that for me?” Issei asked, clasping Kiba’s hands as tears welled up in his eyes in comedic fashion, the latter’s blush deepening at the physical contact.

Kiba nodded, suppressing a giggle at Issei’s demeanor. “Of course. You’re my best friend, Issei. You know I’d do anything for you.”

Issei then pulled Kiba into a tight hug. “You’re the best! I don’t know what I’d do without you, seriously!”

A hug from Issei was something very rare for Kiba, and he would be sure to savor it and remember the feeling for as long as he lived. Before he could respond, Issei was already dragging him to his room with the game in hand.

“Come on, let’s go play it together!” he shouted as Kiba awkwardly laughed, wondering if he’d have to frequent more unsavory stores in order to win Issei’s affection.

Elsewhere, Aika Kiryuu was lying in bed, analyzing the photos she took of a strangely familiar blonde boy at the store she visited earlier in the week.

“Hmm, he looks so much like… no, he wouldn’t be caught dead in a place like that… well…”

Notes:

Heya, thanks for reading. I wanted to do something for Issei's birthday because lord knows he doesn't get enough love from this fandom.

Huge shoutout to XO_CrimsonHeart_OX and their fic Two Sides of the Same Sword for making me want to do this. I have been a huge Issei/Kiba fan since I read the light novel last year but that fic showed me that it's not just me who likes this stuff.

Anyways thanks again for reading, I know this isn't much but I hope you guys enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
