Cousin Tess 'Textual Criticism' Mdang: studies the historicity and authorship of the Lays. Not on speaking terms with Kip or Buru Tovo. Is just asking questions.
Cousin Boom-Boom Mdang (named Ophiochus but does not answer to that.): explosives expert (self-taught). No longer welcome on mainland Jilkano. Awarded keys to the city in Nijan. Entirely apolitical, they just love blowing things up.
Cousin Sarina: expelled from her librarianship course and banned from Gorjo City Library for egregiously overdue returns. Now works for her Poyë aunt, a doctor, doing b- er... k- uh... she does the accounts.
Cousin Darin: Malania Mdang's other son. Beautiful singing voice. No interest in music, thinks opera is boring. Now living on Colhelhe.
Cousin Gardiner: conservationist with a special interest in the Vangavayen native jungle fowl. Also a hobbyist poultry breeder who outcrosses jungle fowl into her chicken lines. A group of concerned relatives enforces an informal (and unknown to either party) restraining order between her and Aunt Moula at all times.
Cousin Throckmorton: you know, the skateboarder.
Cousin Bardy: has a business on Jilkano teaching lonely men how to attract beautiful women with his secret Islander techniques of self-confidence. Wears an Alinorel hat at all times, tilts the brim at people. Affects an apostrophe after the first letter of his family name.
