The Further We Fall

That is, until a certain demon fell into her world, and jumbled up everything Kyojurou thought she believed about herself and the world around her.

Chapter Text

If the Kyojurou from a few months ago could've seen herself now, she knows she'd be met with nothing but disgust and disbelief.

As she stalked her way towards the alley the demon was no doubt residing in, the thought wouldn't leave her head.

She marched her way into the alley, hand on her sword, just in case her hunch was wrong, to be met with a familiar silhouette crouched down next to the bloodied, torn apart corpse laying in front of her.

Kyojurou sighed at the sight, "You're making too much of a fuss in this area, you're lucky it was only me who they sent to find you, Akaza." She said, hand leaving her sword handle and arms crossing in disapproveal.

Akaza lifted her head up to look her way, face marred with blood and a cheshire smile as she met Kyojurous eyes, "How do you know that isn't what I wanted? Your attention can be so hard to aquire these days, Kyojurou." She purred out her name, bringing a hand up to her lips to lap some of the blood off of her fingers as she spoke.

Kyojurou sighed again at Akazas antics, stepping towards her and the corpse, stopping in front of where she was crouched down next to it. "You know as well as I do you could aquire my attention whenever you pleased. You just enjoy creating a mess for me to clean up with the Corps." She was already dreading having to come up with a tall tale about a demon roaming this area and being slayed by her in her reports. She disliked lying on her reports, despite it all, and preferred to avoid it when she could.

Of course, she had had an inkling she would be forced to lie on her reports as soon as she was sent on this mission. She'd had a suspicion the demon she was hunting was simply Akaza dragging her around on a wild goose chase since she read the reports of a demon targeting exclusively adult men in this area. Why the demon decided to do such things, Kyojurou would never truly understand, but it wasn't the first time Akaza had gotten sloppy with her kills on purpose just to garner Kyojurous attention.

Akazas eyes twinkled with mirth as she looked up at Kyojurou, "Maybe I just enjoy the feeling of being chased by you, Kyojurou. The feeling of you hunting me down can be so exhilarating." She purred out, punctuating her statement with a teasing giggle and a deranged smile as she stood up to her full height, meeting Kyojurous eyes and tucking her hands behind her back.

"Aren't you going to finish your meal?" Kyojurou questioned, mild disappointment coloring her tone as she realized she may not get to watch Akaza enjoy the last of her latest meal.

Akaza hummed and shrugged, looking down at the corpse at her feet. "I was basically already done, he's barley anything but scraps and bone now." She replied.

Kyojurou looked down to match her gaze and surely enough, the corpse had been stripped of most of its major organs and pieces of skin, barley still resembling a person at all anymore.

The sight would've made Kyojurou sick and outraged once upon a time, but now she felt nothing but a hollow disappointment burrowed in her chest at missing getting to see Akaza enjoy her meal.

"Besides," Akaza started, looking back up to meet Kyojurous eyes once again, "Now that you're here, I'd rather have my hands all over you, instead!" She said, before lunging forward to attempt to wrap Kyojurou in a bloody embrace.

"Oh no, you don't." Kyojurou replied. Hands shooting up to grip Akazas arms before they could fully wrap around her, halting her efforts mid embrace.

Akaza let out a whine at the action, face morphing into a pout, "Kyojurouuu." She whined again, clearly offended at having her affection rebuked.

"You, are a mess." Kyojurou replied, not budging. "And I just washed my hair, and my haori. And I'd rather not have to wash blood out of them again because you can't keep your hands to yourself." She stated firmly, eyeing the blood and gore coating akazas arms and face. Hands still holding Akazas arms in a firm grip. Akaza huffed at her, pout not leaving her face, but nonetheless relented, letting her arms go limp in Kyojurous hold, Kyojurou then releasing her and letting her arms fall back to their place at Akazas side.

Kyojurou sighed at her continued pouting, before reaching into her pocket for a handkerchief, bringing it to her mouth and letting it make contact with her tongue, before bringing it up to Akazas face to begin removing some of the gore and grime from it.

Akaza perked up at the affection, leaning into the touch as Kyojurou scrubbed the layer of gore away from her right cheek.

Kyojurou let her hand fall away, inspecting Akazas now (mostly) clean cheek, before leaning in and placing a small kiss to the clean side of her face.

"Why don't you come back to the Inn I'm staying at and get cleaned up? You're an absolute mess, you certainly need it."

Akaza pouted at her again at the statement, opening her mouth, likely to argue with her, before Kyojurou interrupted her, bringing a finger up to her lips to shush her.

"If you come back with me and get cleaned up, you can get your hands all over me and I won't be bothered by it. Hell, I'll probably even enjoy it, Kaza." She promised with a smile. Letting her finger fall from her lips as Akaza perked up at that.

"Well come on then!" Akaza started, grabbing Kyojurous hand and pulling her along.

"Akaza! You don't even know where I'm staying!" Kyojurou said with a laugh.

"Who says I don't?" Akaza purred back in reply, a smirk decorating her lips as she looked back at Kyojurou.

"Akaza!" Kyojurou replied with another laugh. Giggling as Akaza dragged her along in the direction of Kyojurous inn.

Disgust and disbelief indeed, she thought to herself. Before letting that thought be buried in the back of her mind by the laughter of her and her lover.
