Idle Hands

Summary:

Nya's alone with a Jay shirtless for the first time.

Work Text:

Knock knock.

“Come in.”

Nya opened the door to Jay’s bedroom, appreciating, again, that the guys now had their own rooms so that she wasn’t faced with the others’ teasing when she just wanted a few minutes alone with her boyfriend. She’d already closed the door behind her (once again, so no one would tease them on their way by) before she even set eyes on Jay.

“So I was thinking we cou— oh.” She could feel her cheeks heating up when her eyes fell on her man. Her man, of that there was definitely no doubt. She’d seen him shirtless before, of course she had: in the infirmary, training on hot days, at the beach. It felt entirely different to see his bare, freckled skin while alone with him in his bedroom.

A smirk crossed his playful lips. “You ok, Nee? You look a little warm.”

“Oh… I… uh…” She could barely tear her eyes away from his lean, well muscled chest to meet his eyes, her own taking a brief stop on his defined shoulders (which flexed under her gaze) on her way up. “I just…” She turned away, fanning her cheeks and hoping he didn’t notice. “Phew, um,” she tried to continue, biting her lip as she glanced back over her shoulder. Delicious. “You…”

“The unflappable Nya Jiang, flustered?” he teased, taking her hand and pulling her back around to face him.

“No. No! It’s just… You should…” her eyes slid over his freckle dusted pecs and lean ribs before jerking up to his eyes again. “I should go!” She started to dart away. His firm but gentle hold on her hand kept her from getting far.

“Something bothering you? I mean, you’ve seen me like this before. Training on hot days…” his voice drifted off as he watched her cheeks flush redder.

Nya couldn’t help licking her lips, thinking of the last time she’d seen Jay with his shirt off, sweaty in the training yard, lean, corded muscles rippling as he breathed deeply from exertion. She’d been so busy with her own training, and so bothered by her brother’s messing around, that she hadn’t been able to focus on his tight abs or the scars that decorated his warrior’s body. Lost in thought, she didn’t realize what Jay was doing until her palm pressed against warm, firm skin.

“Oh!” She could feel the tips of her ears burning. His hand pressed hers against his chest, right over his heart, which seemed to be pounding almost as hard as her own was. Her thumb stroked the defined line between his pecs of its own accord. The contrast between her small, tan hand and his light, freckled skin made her blush more as she pictured her own bare chest pressing against his. Her skin tingled at the thought.

His other hand rested softly on her waist, almost like they were dancing. She found her free hand come to rest on his forearm before drifting up and wrapping around his bicep, which flexed enticingly under her palm. A soft gasp escaped her lips before she could stop it. His chuckle at her response, deeper than his usual voice, drew her wide brown eyes up to meet his electric yellow and blue gaze. Something playful lingered there, matched by his charismatic grin.

“You’re messing with me,” she accused, using the hand on his (hot, hard) chest to push back and away.

“Only if you like it.” His voice was low, intended for her ears only. His hand on her back, on the space between her sweats and her cropped tee, held firm. Before she could reply, his chapped lips slid across her glossy pink pout. Her nails dug into his bicep when he nipped her plump lower lip.

Jay.” She couldn’t tell if she was protesting or begging, but it didn’t matter. The sound of his name was swallowed into their kiss. She was drawn in, her body arching against his strength. The hand between them travelled up of its own accord, charting new territory until it rolled over his shoulder and down the hard planes of his back, her elbow hooked around his shoulder. She could happily have hung there like a monkey, suspended by his strength and her own, forever. With every breath, his chest pressed into hers, flattening her against him. His tight embrace held her in place. It was unnecessary; she never wanted to leave.

Knock knock.

The bang on the door, accompanied by the metallic schick of the ungreased knob turning, sent the flushed pair jumping apart.

“Uh yeah?” Jay’s voice was squeaky, nothing of the husky tone that had seduced Nya moments before remaining. A head of messy black hair poked in, and the flushed pair released almost identical sighs of relief, both dreading a much more fiery invasion.

Olive green eyes looked back and forth between the couple, a knowing smirk spreading across his face. “Hey Jay. Nya, Kai’s looking for you.”

“Oh!” She reached out and squeezed Jay’s hand, eyes lingering one last time on bare, flushed skin before shaking her head. He caught her hand and brought her fingertips to his lips. Hot, electric breath burned the delicate skin between her fingers when he made her a promise. “We’ll finish this later.”

“Promises, promises,” she teased back with a calm confidence she wasn’t actually feeling before ducking through the small space in the doorway that Cole wasn’t filling. “Thanks for the… yeah.” She raised a hand to pat his arm, skin still tingling from Jay’s electric heat but let it fall without touching the other ninja. Then she was gone.
