Citan Knocked on the door. With a small click the doorknob turned open and Fei stood in the doorway.
“Doc, what are you doing here?”
“I have a gift for you Fei.”
“A gift for me?”
“Yes please sit down. I'd love for you to open it.
Citan put down the rather large box on the floor. Fei opened the box. “Painting supplies?” Fei asked, looking at Citan with a mixed look of confusion and excitement.
“Many find Painting to be therapeutic. I thought the activity might help you adjust to your new life here….perhaps you should give it a try”
They set up the canvas and supplies as Fei began to paint. A strange feeling washed over him. Despite the fact that to his memory he had never painted before; it was like he knew how. Like a deep intuition took over him. He was aware of how each brush stroke should be applied.
Citan took notice of Fei's advanced skills.
“You're very talented Fei.”
“I can't explain it doc but I feel like I've done this before. But I haven't. This is the first time I've painted but somehow I just know how to do it”
Citan stood for a moment and tapped his foot. “Perhaps you were a painter before you lost your memory.”
“But then how would I know…”
“The mind is a mysterious thing. The subconscious often remembers things the conscious mind doesn't.”
“So you're saying that I used to be a painter and I subconsciously remember how to do it.”
“Perhaps…but this is mere speculation. Nothing you should concern yourself with. The more important thing is whether or not you enjoy it”
“I-l like it. It's soothing”
