It was a calm day in Avengers tower, and said Avengers were taking full advantage of it.
Thor was sitting in the common room, watching some ancient film about a sled that had a name? For some reason? By his side, Loki sat reading. No one had any idea just what he’d been obsessively reading the past two days because he hid the cover anytime someone asked and smiled that mischievous grin. Even Thor was confused since usually, all Loki could do was rant about whatever his favorite character at the time had gotten up to.
Tony groaned, rolling to the side on the opposite couch and flopping on his stomach whining, “I’m bored!”
The two gods ignored him, and he grunted in annoyance.
”Come on Point Break! Let’s go—“ Tony was cut off when a bright light erupted a yard away from Thor, and a moment later a blonde young man was standing there, looking around the room curiously.
Tony jumped up, summoning his Iron Man armor, but before it arrived the stranger’s eyes landed on the thunder god and he grinned. “Thor!” He yelled, tackling the taller blonde in a hug as Loki hurried to move before he could get caught in it.
Thor seemed unconcerned with the young man’s sudden arrival, and laughed heartily, returning the hug.
”Apollo my friend!” He said, pulling away, “It’s been over a year since I last heard from you, what have you been up to?”
The stranger — Apollo?? — groaned, suddenly looking as if he was about to cry, “Thor, I am soooo sorry for making fun of you. Being fully mortal SUCKS!”
The thunder god’s eyes widened, “And how, exactly, do you know this?”
Newly dubbed Apollo slumped, draping himself across Thor’s lap with his head next to Loki near the end- gods, he was tall.
”My father blamed me for Gaea’s uprising and the war that followed — if anyone, it was his own fault! Or maybe even Athena’s—“ thunder sounded outside, and Apollo flinched slightly and yelled, “My apologies father, that was worded horribly and came out wrong!” Before turning back to the ceiling and continuing, “He made me mortal until I killed three evil Roman man-god emperors that only stayed alive thanks to stupid Wikipedia — one of which was my ex, which sucked — and re-killed Python who managed to come through the doors of death during that war I mentioned.”
He sat up, grabbing Thor by the shoulders, “I fell into Chaos Thor. Styx almost MURDERED ME! My baby brother is dead.” His voice cracked slightly on the word, “How the everloving Hades am I supposed to process this?! The only person I can talk to at the moment thanks to the stupid ancient laws besides the other gods is a twelve year old girl and I can’t trauma dump to a twelve year old girl!”
He breathed heavily, flopping back onto the couch and staring up at the ceiling. Thor blinked at him, shocked.
From the end of the couch, Loki groaned, “Well wait to spoil the ending!” He complained, shutting the book he was holding and holding it up for them to see.
The Trials of Apollo the cover read.
Apollo stared at it, then looked to Loki, “How did you even get that? I have the only copi- did you sneak into my temple and steal it???”
Loki smirked, “I was looking for something new to read and saw the series just sitting there, waiting to give voice to your greatest embarrassments.”
Apollo opened his mouth to retort but a voice from across the room caught everyone’s attention.
”Can somebody PLEASE explain to me what the fuck is going on?!?” Tony whined, pointing his gauntlets at the ‘intruder’.
”Uhh,” Apollo drawled, not having even noticed the mortal until that moment. He grinned sheepishly and turned to the Norse deities, “Well, I guess we’ll continue this another time. Lunch next Thursday?” They nodded and his smile grew, “Well then, I’ll see you later, good luck!”
Apollo winked at Tony, and in a snap and a blink he was gone.
Tony stared for a minute, blinking. His eyes seemed to glaze over for a second before he sat down with a groan, rubbing his head.
”What… what was I saying?” He said slowly, looking to the hammer wielding blonde. They made eye contact, Thor tensed, before Tony shrugged, “Oh well, wanna go to the training room Point Break?”
The Norse brothers looked at each other, then smiled in relief and looked back at the engineer, “Of course Man of Iron! Let us go.”
