"Mick… Hey, Mick, stop… Hold on," Ian pats his shoulder, pulling away from the heated kiss, and the dark haired man freezes under him on the dorm room bed.
"What?" he breathes out, looking up at Ian, pupils blown and eyebrows bent. His grip on the redhead's waist is strong and he tries to pull him back in but to no avail. "What's wrong?"
"I can't do it like this," he whispers, blushing all over his freckled face and even neck and torso, which confuses Mickey even further.
"Like what?"
Mickey's frown deepens and he takes his hands away from Ian to give him some space, trying to figure out what set his boyfriend off so much.
"She's staring," Ian chuckles and points somewhere behind Mickey's head, making the dark haired man twist to take a good look.
The black cat is sitting on the table with her tail wrapped around herself, her beady eyes glued to the pair on the bedding, tracking their movements with interest.
Mickey's gaze darts from the black kitten and back to Ian. He stares up at the redhead with an incredulous look on his face.
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
"What? She's ogling, I can't keep going like this, she's making me uncomfortable!" Ian pleads, but seeing Mickey's annoyance he looks for more arguments to prove his point. "She's a woman."
"She's a cat!"
"A cat that is about to watch us fuck!"
Mickey blinks at his boyfriend for a few long moments and rolls his eyes. "Get the fuck off of me, Gallagher," he pushes him to the side, so Ian stumbles and almost falls off the bed.
"Ouch," he punches Mickey in the shoulder with a chuckle. "Hold on, I'll be right back on top of you in a sec."
"Yeah? Well, maybe I don't want you here anymore," Mickey grumbles and sits up, adjusting his pants and grabbing his notebook from the floor, where it was discarded not even ten minutes ago in hopes of a pleasurable continuation of the afternoon.
"Mickey…" he sighs with an eye roll. "Just hold on a sec, I'll get Shadow over to her favourite babysitter next door."
He throws some dark T-shirt on, scoops up their kitten and darts out of the room to knock on Mandy's door. Thankfully, she opens right away and Ian presents her with the pet.
"Hi, Mandy! You mind having a girls' day with our baby girl?"
"I don't," she reaches out and grabs the cat with enthusiasm. "How's my pretty kitty doing today?" She coos to Shadow before looking back up at Ian. "What's wrong with you and Mick?"
"Nothing," Ian is quick to answer, biting his lip. "Just need some... privacy," he mutters and Mandy's growing smile tells him that he just gave everything away.
"Oh, some privacy, is that right?" She teases. "I guess I better fetch my earbuds asap. Well, have fun, boys," Mandy giggles and closes the door in Ian's blushing face.
He stands in the hall for a few more seconds before rushing back into his boyfriend's room.
"Okay, we're good. I think Mandy just gave us the green light."
"Good for you," Mickey grumbles, his back turned on Ian as he's working on some university papers.
"Hey, come on. What's wrong?" He comes up to the chair and leans on Mickey, arms wrapping around his shoulder as he nudges his head to get into his field of vision. "C'mere," he whispers, pulling the man slightly.
"Told ya, don't want you here anymore." The dark haired man tries to shrug the weight of his partner away, but it seems like it's glued to him with no intention of leaving anytime soon.
"You don't?" He murmurs teasingly, lips moving to graze Mickey's neck and press a light kiss every now and then.
"No," he grumbles, annoyed, "get the fuck out, I gotta finish the calculations."
"Mick…"
"Not interested."
"Oh, so we're really playing it like that, huh?" He straightens, letting go of Mickey's shoulders just to step back and take in his boyfriend's expression. There's a sly smirk dancing on the edges of his lips and the redhead knows it's all a part of their fun. "Not getting away with it, you know it, right?"
"Yeah?" He turns around in his chair to face his partner, playing right into his hands.
Ian grabs the shirt of the older boy and pulls him up and into his arms so now they're chest to chest. The height difference makes Mickey look up at him. His gaze is fierce, determined, and Ian is mesmerized by it. Who would've known that a slightly smaller man with so much fight in him would be exactly what Ian needed in his life to feel like he's on cloud nine?
Mickey pushes Ian's chest with his arms to make him step back, but all it does is make Ian get closer, trap Mickey between his body and the table behind the dark haired man.
"Does it remind you of something?" Ian's smug smile does take Mickey back in time to their first time together and he can't help but chuckle.
"You're such a sap."
"Is it such a bad thing though?"
Ian's warm hands travel up his boyfriend's sides, scrunching his shirt on their way. Mickey grunts softly, licks and bites his lower lip to keep himself from smiling any more. He doesn't want to give Ian the satisfaction of realizing that he is enjoying it so much.
But the way Ian smirks at him, the way his eyes shine – if it's anything to go by – he already knows it.
"You still wanna go back to studying?" he raises his eyebrows teasingly. "Should I leave you alone to work it all out by yourself?"
The older boy holds his gaze for a few long moments, contemplating the answer even when it has been obvious from the very beginning until he can't hold back anymore.
"Fucking… come here, asshole," he sighs and grabs Ian's face to smack their lips back together, just like they belong.
