Ep 12: War Machine vs Tech Jacket

Summary:

Soldiers wear uniforms with pride to represent their country. Superheroes wear super suits to be recognized as symbols of hope and peace. Combine the two, and you have two superheroes wearing super suits fit for war.

But who will have the toughest fit? The Armored Patriot known as War Machine? Or the Galactic Guardian known as Tech Jacket?

Chapter Text

Bryant: It was once said, that for every man who dreamed of the lightbulb, there was a man who dreamed of the atomic bomb. Seeing the weapons of destruction that mankind made to destroy his creation, perhaps even God hides in heaven for fear of what he-

Thea: “Thea interrupts with a loud proclamation.” Bryant, I know you wrote the script like this because we’re like, Wiz and Boomstick, I’m Boomstick, you’re Wiz, but I think we should just, you know. Be ourselves? Not just rip-offs? So just… You know?

Bryant: …WAR MACHINE THE LIVING ARSENAL VS TECH JACKET THE OTHER LIVING ARSENAL LET’S GO! BADASS ROBOT SUITS OF MASS DESTRUCTION FUCK YEAH!!!!

Thea: There we go. He’s Bryant Reese and I’m Thea Price.

Bryant: And we’re here to analyze these two living weapons of mass destruction to see who would win a DEATH BATTLE!

Rules:

  • When analyzing the characters, all reasonable forms of scaling and calculations will be taken into account
    • If character A and B fought and are equal, or A is superior, then A will be scaled to B's feats unless those feats are performed with specific weapons/abilities
    • Context for scaling will be considered. If character A is stronger but B is clearly faster, then A will not receive B's speed scaling
  • Unless specific power levels and groups are shown, and the characters are clearly put in these tiers, the characters of the verse will be considered to be at the same general level of power
    • If A hurts B despite B surviving a nuke, this won't downgrade B to human level but upgrade A to be city level. But if A is clearly established to be Low Tier on the power scale while B is High Tier, then this will be considered an outlier
  • Characters, unless said otherwise, will not have any form of Prep Time, and will have no knowledge of each other. Even if exceptions are made, the Prep Time being applied will be for the sake of having characters at their best. They will not have the ability to design something specific to their opponent
  • Characters will be alone. No one will help them, unless they can be considered a part of their standard kit such as Cortana for Master Chief, or if it’s a tag team like Eddie and Venom
  • No Limit Fallacies will not be applied. Every single character will always be analyzed under the assumption that there is a limit to what they’re capable of, and that the displays they do show is an indicator of said limits
    • If A never showed their full potential and is the strongest of the verse, they'll be scaled to the highest feat available and potential multipliers will be considered. However, this won't be used to argue that they can scale above B
  • All official canon media that are discovered for a character will be applied, unless there is a contradiction between them
  • Not all scripts will have canon vs canon or composite vs composite. The decision will be made on various variables, most frequently debate as was the case with Composite DIO vs Reverse Flash, and will be specified within the script
  • If both characters have the same ability, they will be considered to be canceled as an advantage for either character unless one is obviously far superior to the other
    • For example, if A can stop time for five seconds while B can stop time for ten, then B has the superior time stop
  • Both characters will receive equal treatment as long as it’s reasonable
    • If A receives generous scaling and their full arsenal, then B will as well. But if a part of B's arsenal has specific limitations, contexts, and requirements that make them unavailable within a story even if they have potential access to it, then it won't be granted to them
  • Characters who can revive themselves will be allowed that ability, but it will only matter if they come back immediately.
  • Any moral restraint will be removed, so the characters will actively fight to kill. Even more pacifistic characters like Aang from Avatar will fight to kill. However, there will be an attempt to make such attempts make sense in a story, at least as much as it would make sense for either character

Things to Note:

  • The overall format of these ‘episodes’ will mostly be made to mimic official Death Battles. Meaning every article will have individual character analysis, and a conclusion. The fights will be written out in full detail.
  • Due to trying to mimic official episodes, the analysis will occasionally have notes being sprinkled in like the black boxes. I try to make these notes be extra details instead of main details, so they can be ignored. However, they will sometimes contain information about specific details
  • Many of these ‘episodes’ will say things like “we” on multiple occasions, like in extra notes. However, this is simply because in ‘lore’, it’s written by two hosts. In actuality, there’s only one person doing everything, from making the covers that are available on Reddit, writing the analysis, etc. As such, there will be flaws. Please note that I am not claiming that these are going to be perfect
  • While each fight has been researched to see who wins, the overall purpose of this project is to write fan-versions of Death Battle episodes. So while the verdict of these chapters are free to be debated, I’m requesting that they’re judged based on the quality of the character writing, analysis, and portrayal as opposed to the result
  • Speaking of the result, I try to analyze as many variables and scenarios as I can, as I write these to discover who would win in a crossover confrontation. This obviously includes Attack Potency, Durability, Speed, Skill, Experience, Hax, Weapons, and Abilities. But other details will include things like the specifics of fighting styles, or personalities.
  • Many of these episodes contain research done by other people. Some research I’ve done myself, but for the sake of convenience and time management, many of the numbers I’ve used are calculations done by other people that are found on the Internet on things like Vs Wiki, Death Battle Fanon, Reddit, and even the occasional Deviantart Post and YouTube Video
  • Side-note to the previous bullet point, I am not, have not, and will never claim to be an expert on Vs Debates and Vs Calcs, and I do the research mainly by myself for dozens of characters. My research will be flawed, which is why I’m asking that these are judged based on quality as opposed to verdict
