Chapter Text

There was a lull in activity at the bar as the lights dimmed around the stage. Jericho never really had much interest in what was going on beyond the bar, neither the stage or the floor. But on occasion, if he had a small break, he'd check out the stage production. There was something a little magical about the music, the lights, the smoke, and what it added to the dancing itself.

Smoke obscured the floor of the stage as a pulsing beat began. A silhouetted figure appeared on the stage as the music built, and just as the vocals came in, the spotlights slowly came up, revealing Juan. Their costume was dark and glittered in the flashing lights, creating an absolutely mesmerizing sight.

Jericho suddenly found himself leaning against the bar, eyes glued to the stage. Juan moved effortlessly with the music, but Jericho was focused on their face. Somehow, even from here, their eyes blazed and captured his attention.

I just wanna be right where you are
Oh, my love

In the end I hope it's you and me
In the darkness I would never leave
We both saw this moment coming from afar
Now here we are

The lyrics only added to the dark, yet beautiful vibe emanating from the stage. His gaze never wavered, but his mind wandered. What would it be like, he wondered, to be close to them? To be something beyond just friends? He shook his head, trying to dispel the thoughts.

But please
Do you think about what it might mean?
'Cause I dream about you in my sleep
Would you ever love someone like me?
Like me?

The words raised an interesting question. Would they? Could they? His contemplation was interrupted as Juan executed a flawless move that left them facing the bar for a moment. Their eyes met his, and tossed a wink his way before turning back to the crowd. Jericho's face burned with a flustered heat he didn't expect. Where had these feelings come from?

In the end I hope it's you and me
In the darkness I would never leave
We both saw this moment coming from afar
Now here we are

So run from the sunlight, Dracula
Isn't the view spectacular?

Surely it was just the mood created by the music and production. It didn't mean anything, did it? They had become good friends since Juan had started at the Snake Pit, and they'd always been nice to him. Attentive even. But taking that any further… It was surely a bad idea. They wouldn't have any interest in him. And they worked together. Jericho had thought he'd learned his lesson about getting involved with a coworker.

But as the song started coming to a close, and Juan turned, catching his eye once more, Jericho started to think he might like this bad idea.

Run from the sunlight, Dracula
Isn't the view spectacular?

The lights went out once more, and Juan's silhouette disappeared from the stage. Jericho thought the spell might be broken, but somehow, it wasn't. His heart was still beating too fast, a blush still covering his face. Oh no. With a start, he realized he hadn't even noticed that they'd taken their clothes off during the performance. He'd been so lost in the magic of the music and their eyes… Venhedis.

Activity started to resume at the bar and he shook his head again. It wouldn't do to dwell on this. But that song would not leave his head.

Isn't the view spectacular?
