Work Text:
the moment the cowboy had left, it shyly came out from it's area of the domain. Mitternacht's bones clicked as she sighed, prompting the godling to come out from behind the larger god.
"oh, hello starling!" her voice rang out around the Midnight. "you just missed King"
the smaller being hummed a tone as it sat in her outstretched hand. it fidgeted with its cape, looking away from its mom
"hm, what's up?" She brought it up, looking at its face, which was tentative
"mama.." it struggles, trying to find the correct words to get its feelings out properly "cuddle?"
"anything for you, flower" she moved further into her domain, pass the visitor area, and to her nest, carefully putting it down before joining it. "now, was there anything else you wanted to talk about, dear?"
there was several minutes of silence, absent humming coming from the smaller being
"you like cowboy?" a slight lilt to its voice indicted the question
"hm.. I suppose so, she's awfully nice and considerate. what're your opinions on her?" it thought, going back to the humming
"nice. don't mind." it tugged and scrunched up its cape again, words getting harder to get out "music mama?" it mumbled out, eyes closing as it starts feeling the calming rumble coming from its mama. the lyrics and her voice soothing it's restlessness and nerves.
"Days pull you down just like a sinking ship
Floating is getting harder
But tread the water, child, and know that meanwhile
Rises the moon~"
