Things Can Be Different

Summary:

The plan was a success. Kenjaku had created the perfect Vessel, capable of containing Sukuna in the form of Yuji Itadori.

Now all they had to do was Kill Jin Itadori and then take the baby.

Yet they couldn't......

Work Text:

Kenjaku knew that something was wrong.

Not Physically no, everything was perfectly fine for them.

However mentally.....well they won't sure.

Because in reality they should be absolutely ecstatic. After 1000 years they finally completed their master plan. They had managed to find the reincarnation of Sukuna's twin brother, Jin Itadori and was able to create the perfect vessel to contain Sukuna.

Of course it wasn't that easy, they had to possess the body of Jin Itadori's deceased wife, Kaori. The doctors had considered it a miracle when 'Kaori' had miraculously recovered from her brain tumor, considering that nothing they had done had worked.

With the body now secured, Kenjaku had used reversed cursed technique to heal Kaori's reproductive organs, in order for the child to be born. Jin didn't seem to notice anything was different with his wife nor did he seem to care.

He was most likely ecstatic that his wife had returned to full health that he willingly ignored any oddities that 'Kaori' had started doing. Kenjaku couldn't say the same for Jin's father, Wasuke.

Ever since 'Kaori' had gotten better, Wasuke had become suspicious of 'her' and Kenjaku would admit there were definitely a few times where they had almost been caught by the elder Itadori.

There were even nights where they would eavesdrop on the father and son arguing. How Wasuke would insist that Jin leave 'her' before something bad happens to him.

Kenjaku would also admit that it did surprisingly war their heart when Jin would defend them against his father. Then Kenjaku would have to remind themselves that he was defending Kaori, not them.

After some time passed, Kenjaku ended up becoming pregnant with a boy. The pregnancy went along smoothly (though those mood swings and cravings were annoying) and their son Yuji Itadori was born.

"Ah!"

Speaking of Yuji.....

Kenjaku was brought out of their thoughts when they looked up and saw the babe sitting on the floor, playing with some blocks that Jin had bought for him. The boy was practically a copy of his father, inheriting not only his looks but also his wild pink hair.

There didn't seem to be much from Kaori, except for her golden brown eyes. Yuji had just turned one recently and they had a small party for him, family and friends for Jin and Kaori showed up, though Kenjaku didn't really seem to care all that much.

Oh yes they put on a smile and shook hands and talked with the guests, but it was all an act of course.

Though that begs the question......why were they still here?

One year......it had been one year since Kenjaku had completed the goal they wanted so desperately and yet......they made no move to continue with their plan.

Even now with it just been them alone with the babe as Jin had gone out for groceries, the perfect time to take the child and leave.....Kenjaku didn't. It wasn't that they couldn't, it was just that they didn't want to.

There was something......about feeling your child grow within you, feeling it kick and move. When Yuji had been born and Kenjaku held him for the first time, they felt strange, almost at peace with this child.

Kenjaku had assumed that maybe these were the remains of Kaori's feelings and they were getting to them. That and perhaps playing the role of the mother and giving birth to the child would cause some sort of change in their feelings. Especially when for the the rest of their creations, Kenjaku had played the role of the father.

Of course Kenjaku had told themselves that it was all for their own amusement, that's all this was. They would stay for a bit, have some fun and then when they time was right, they would take Yuji and leave.

Once again, they were brought out of their thoughts when Yuji had gotten up, toddling towards them holding out a block, he insisted that they take it.

Putting on a smile, they gently took the block from the boy's fingers, "Thank you Yuji." They said.

The toddler smiled brightly, clapping his hands at the good job that he did. Kenjaku couldn't help but give a genuine smirk at this, being a parent was genuinely amusing, but they did know that soon the fun would be ov-

"Mama!"

Kenjaku jumped a bit, they hadn't been expecting that. Yuji had been trying to talk these past few months and outside of a few words like 'cow', 'cookie', 'car' etc he had never been able to call either one of his parents' as 'mama' or 'papa'.

Until now.

"Mama! Mama! Mama!" Yuji kept repeating the word as he was clapping his hands, absolutely happy.

Kenjaku couldn't help but feel their heart skip a beat, they didn't know why they were feeling this way. Suddenly they felt something wet roll down their cheek, touching it, they realized it was a tear.

"Mama?" Yuji questioned, looking at Kenjaku and the tear rolling down their face. He walked up to them and raised his hands, like he wanted to be lifted up. Kenjaku did, though they were mostly operating on instincts right now, still shocked at the tear on their face.

Yuji lifted his little hands up and wiped the tear from their face, "Mama, no." He said with a pout, not wanting them to cry.

At that, Kenjaku couldn't help but laugh, a genuine full belly laugh, "It's okay Yuji.....Mama's okay."

Feeling satisfied Yuji snuggled up closer, pressing his face in Kenjaku's chest. Slowly, Kenjaku wrapped their arms around the baby feeling content with their position.

'Just for a little bit....' They thought, 'Even if it is just an act, perhaps being a mother won't be so bad.'

Jin would later come home to find his wife and son asleep on the couch, snuggled up together. He would make sure and treasure this memory with a picture.
