Chapter Text

Darcy had never been good at not being snarky especially for preposterous men who degraded women and irritated her. She was fearless beyond her own good and sometimes that led her to a minor trouble. This was one of those days. It had been a small pleasant cocktail event at Tony's and Pepper's penthouse until Loki crashed the party with his tricks, threats and arrogant insults. Yes, he got into Darcy's nerves, on purpose, maybe. She was fast to grab her taser. Unfortunately the wizard was faster with his spell. Darcy saw it hitting Wanda and Pepper erasing them and then she felt tremendous pain in her body. She fell on the floor still holding her beloved weapon in her hand. Everything faded black.

When she regained her consciousness she felt lying on a surface softer than the floor.

"Should we call an ambulance? Or the police?" Somebody said. A woman. An unknown voice.

"She's waking up, Mom", a young man said.

She looked around. She was in a living room in an old fashioned country house. "Where am I?"

Three men and a woman were standing beside her and looking at her. Two men were wearing flannel with jeans, younger and  older, maybe father and son, Darcy thought. A young bald man in a suit stood out but he seemed to feel like home, too.

"You are at Kent's farm, Smallville, Kansas", the old man said. She knew Kansas. The rest she had never heard of. "I'm Jonathan Kent", he contnued. "And this is my wife Martha and my son Clark." Martha looked worried, so Darcy stood up to show she was okay and shook their hands.

"I'm Darcy Lewis. Nice to meet you."

"I'm Lex Luthor, a friend of the family", the bald man said.

He was holding her taser in his hand. "A nice weapon. Stark", he read the label in the device.

"Can I have it back, please?"

"Is it legal?"

"C'mon. Girl needs to protect herself."

"Protect herself from what?"

"Men. Dangerous men. Men, who want to hurt her and her friends", she snapped.

"Well, in that case, maybe you need a better protection. This toy doesn't really do a thing."

"Oh." Tony had updated her taser to a level it should take down super soldiers and wizards, too. "I'm so sorry if it hit somebody."

"Luckily Clark wasn't hurt at all", his mother said.

"Were did you get this shiny toy?" Mister Luthor didn't seem willing to part with the toy. Darcy stepped in front of him and stretched out her hand.

"From a friend."

"Not a boyfriend, I hope." He he placed the object in her hand. "If so, he's not very keen on your security."

Darcy took her small purse from the table and placed the taser inside. "It was a gift from my boss." She was, for her own surprise, very aware of being among strangers in Kansas and she didn't say more. In some other company she would have said and against the common beliefs, I'm not sleeping with him and his girlfriend, who is also a very good friend of mine.

But now she remembered Pepper Potts and Wanda Maximoff. Loki's spell had casted on them, too. What had happened to them?

"How did you end up here, Miss Lewis?", young Clark asked. The guy was huge, and from his looks and stance, he was just a teenager.

"Did you just appeared from thin air?" Lex Luthor sounded amazed, in a good way.

"Did I?" She smiled charmingly. Maybe she could just skip the interrogation.

"How did you do it?" Oh yes, he was definitely a curious type. Darcy had never been into bald guys before, but first time was always a first time.

"Well..." she looked around, "it seems I was teleported.", Probably through time even into another universe, but that she didn't say aloud.

"I didn't know physics was so advanced." Lex seemed genuinely interested, not just hitting on her.

"Well, I work in a top level."

"So you are a scientist?" Martha asked. She sounded wary, but Darcy got it. If somebody accidentally apperared into her living room, she would be on guard, too.

"Yes, I'm an astrophysicist. I study space, time and stuff like that." She left aliens out of the list. Clark looked at her as fascinated as a teenage boy could be. Yes, she was a curvy young woman in a very short black cocktail dress.

"So your physics research experiment went wrong and you ended up here?" Jonathan Kent asked like he totally got it and nothing special was going on. Sure.

"Sort of, yeah." That was an excellent explanation.

"Do you feel like you need to see a doctor?" Martha Kent was a true mother hen. "If so, we can drive.."

"No I'm fine. I just need..." Darcy opened her purse and took her StarkPhone out. Limited network. The Map showed the farm and not much more. Only stuff the phone itself could read from the environment. The StarkNetwork wasn't yet on. Damn!

"Nice tech. Another gift?" Darcy cursed the amusement in Lex's voice.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud knock on the door. Dacy saw Pepper's figure behind the glass and hurried behind Jonathan Kent who opened the door.

Pepper was without shoes and she was carrying her muddy designer shoes and equally dirty tights in her hand. She had spots of mud all over her previously white short dress, too.

"Good evening, Miss. Please come in." Mr. Kent said it like he rescued strays every day.

Darcy knew her manners. Before Pepper could say anything, she introduced her to the master of the farm. "This is Pepper Potts, who was also transferred during the sicentific experiment." Pepper got the hint.

"Nice to meet you, Mister Kent. And Darcy, it's so good to see you."

"Oh, dear. We'll find some clean clothes for you." Martha was genuinely sorry for her.

"Thank you. You're so kind." Pepper's smile was warm, but Darcy was sure to see a little bit of despair underneath. Pepper was introduced to everybody. She was also a little baffled about Lex. What is this guy doing here? Lex, on the other hand, hid his thoughts well but Darcy got the feeling from his smile, that he was quite pleased of something and definitely interested.

"Would you like something... warmer to wear?" Martha asked Darcy. "I hope you stay for the dinner. Won't you?"

Darcy turned her thoughts on the more pressing issue. "Mrs. Kent, we would love to stay for the dinner, and we'd definitely appreciate clean clothes, but our friend is missing, and we must find her as soon as possible."

"Don't worry, Darcy, we'll find her. JARVIS is already looking", Pepper assured.

"JARVIS? There's not JARVIS here. My phone is offline!"

"Yes, but JARVIS is here", Pepper knocked her StarkWatch, "and when I came closer to the house, he located your phone."

"So you have JARVIS and you can see my phone but I don't see your phone?" Darcy should have known that Pepper's StarkWatch had more power than her phone and they both were better than computers during this time. She had noticed a calendar on the wall.

"We'll I'm SuperAdmin. And now Jarvis is usin both devces to track Wanda. So don't worry." She turned to lady of the house.

"Now, come this way", Martha hused Pepper and Darcy to the stairs. Darcy didn't left her purse behind. She had seen how Lex had looked at her techology.

When they walked down to the stairs in a clean and warm but very unfitting clothes, Pepper's watch and Darcy's phone beeped. JARVIS had found a network and located Wanda. She walked on the road three miles away from the farm.

"That's a really advanced technology", Lex admired when Pepper and Darcy were looking at their devices.

"Well, yeah, these are hand-made prototypes. And we are using the map from LuthorCorpSatellite now. Is it yours?" Darcy

"Call me Lex, and no, it's my father's."

"I hope he doesn't mind us borrowing his tech."

Lex just laughed at that. "Let's go to get your friend. I'll drive you."
