beginning of beginnings

Summary:

In the beginning of beginnings, before time held meaning and space held weight; there was nothing, and that nothing was good. But the nothing was lonely and wished for something to fill in the spaces between it. So the nothing waited and waited, with no way of its own to make a something out of nothing. But the nothing's desire for something was so great that something did spring out of nothing, a shape to fill a meaningless hole.

The something called Herself Primus, and that too, was good.

Notes:

this is the beginning of my fan continuity!! i wanted to start out with my creation myths as religion (specifically revolving around primus and unicron as opposing gods for 2 very different religions) will be a huge theme for this fan cont :)

i can't say for certain what will come next after the creation myths but there will be another creation myth focusing on unicron's side since this one is for primus. everything will be organized in a series and i'll try my best to keep the fics organized chronologically for the timeline since i don't plan to go in order of anything. but i'm excited for this!! it's been rotating in my head for a few months so i'm happy to finally get something out for it. i might do some lore dumps on my tumblr in the future which you can check out here

Work Text:

In the beginning of beginnings, before time held meaning and space held weight; there was nothing, and that nothing was good. But the nothing was lonely and wished for something to fill in the spaces between it. So the nothing waited and waited, with no way of its own to make a something out of nothing. But the nothing's desire for something was so great that something did spring out of nothing, a shape to fill a meaningless hole.

The something called Herself Primus, and that too, was good.

Primus eventually was able to take a form, something to better give the nothing spaces to fill in between— with servos to mold shapes with and a spark to give light to both the nothing and the something. She and the nothing that filled between Her were happy for a time, but Primus had the gift to create more somethings out of nothing and desired to test this power. So She used up more of the nothing and formed the stars and the sky in which to dance in until She tired of doing that, too. She wanted someone to speak to but the nothing had no way to speak to Her without a form like Her own, and so Primus gave the nothing a form of its own, and asked it to think of a name to go along with it.

The nothing called himself Unicron, and that too, was good.

They were happy among the stars, with each other as their only company to dance with and speak to, but only for a time. Unicron possessed a great hunger and longed to find something to sate it. In Her great generosity, Primus gave Unicron the first stars She had made to bite into with his sharpened denta, for they were imperfect and did not please her, but this pleased Unicron and his hunger was sated. Unicron agreed that he would eat the creations that no longer pleased Primus so that She may create more and this pleased them both for awhile longer.

Eventually, Primus grew tired of dancing with Unicron among the stars and wished for the stars She had made to be filled with things that might enjoy the stars Primus had created. And so Primus shaped a being in her likeness, with gleaming metal plating and a spark that echoed the light of Primus. Primus called Her new creation Prima, and that, too, was good. But Prima had no one to share the loveliness of this new universe with, so from the center of Her being, Primus took a sliver of Her spark and planted it in Her most favorite spot of the new universe so that many more sparks could spring forth and populate the planet made of living metal.

Primus spoke to Prima, Her very first creation, in a loving tone as she told Her creation that she was to lead the new sparks that had been created, to be their guiding servo on this new world. She was to be their Prime. To help Prima in this holy task, she was given a relic— a shaving from the vessel that contained Primus' spark— the Creation Matrix, a powerful symbol of Primus' promise to look out for Her creations as they lived in Her image.

Prima called their new home, Cybertron, and that, too, was good.
