There's Nothing Like the First Time We Met

Summary:

Alex didn't believe in "Love at First Sight".

It was nonsensical to him to be in love with someone without even knowing their name.

He believed in "Attraction at First Sight". It made more sense to him. Being attracted to someone you only saw once was fairly normal.

It had never really happened to him, he believed it could happened but he doubted it would be like forgetting your name or forgetting how to breathe.

Until he first saw Tory.

Or,

How Tory and Big Red first met.

Notes:

Hi everyone, so how do we feel about this rarepair??

If you liked them in Lost and Found let me give you all the Lewichols crumbs.

I hope one day to write a full on long story of them but I have Let the Games Begin to focus on right now so that might take a while.

I had been thinking about this one shot for so long, but I just couldn't write it and then my brain was like you know what let's do it in one sitting. So don't be surprised if I delete this or heavily edit this, again, I did this instead of sleeping.

Hope you all like this <3

Work Text:

He really needed some sugar. The performance was very demanding for them. Edwin, Rickenberger, and he had not eaten anything yet.

He walked away, coat over his gi. Their demo was fire. He was still mad that Sensei Lawrence didn't exactly care about the dojo, but Sensei Kreese did. He saw potential in more than Miguel, Aisha, and Hawk.

He had told them that the three of them had potential. His shoulders eased now. A… Well, having a decent adult in their corner was nice.

Cotton candy had a giant line. Chocolates also had a big line. The only one with no line at all was Candy Apples.

He shrugged. Not the best choice, but he wanted something fast. As he walked closer, someone reached it first. Though one person is better than 20 for cotton candy.

He stopped there. He got his wallet, and the girl in front of him stepped aside so he could order. She turned to face him, and for a second, his brain short-circuited.

Hazel eyes, darker because of the lack of light around, blonde highlights in her hair, and the yellow flannel.

He's pretty sure he had never seen her before. Cause if he had, he would never forget her.

He had seen girls before, obviously. Pretty girls, hot girls, from the moment he saw them, he would say in his mind, “Oh, she's pretty” or “Oh, she's hot.”

But for the girl in front of him right now, pretty was a major understatement. Hot was not enough.

“Oh, she's beautiful.” That's all his mind could say.

Probably the most beautiful girl he had seen in his whole life.

“You're from the dojo that did the demo,” She acknowledged, looking him up and down.

His breath hitched. Maybe even beautiful was an understatement. She was breathtaking in more ways than one.

Oh, she just talked to him. Crap. Focus. Focus. Dojo. Demo. Cobra Kai.

“Yeah, yeah,” He breathed, “Cobra Kai.”

“Nice name,” She side smiled, and that made his mind worse. How was it possible that she looked even more beautiful when she was smiling?

He smiled. He didn't even realize he was doing it. The guy gave her the apple, and he realized he really needed something to keep the conversation going.

“Are you thinking of joining?”

She looked away for a second, then at him again.

“I don't know… Karate is not exactly my thing,” She shrugged. “I'm more of a kickboxing gal.”

“Kickboxing?” He gasped, and she laughed

“So surprising?”

He's not sure he'll ever recover from that laugh.

“Well, you definitely should join Cobra Kai then.”

“Why not those other guys?” She rolled her eyes

“Miyagi Do? Oh no. It will bore you to death.

“Oh,” She shook her head, “But they're free.”

“And boring,” He emphasized, paying the apple as the guy gave it to him.

“Well, they seemed… Slow,” She shrugged again, “And I'm pretty sure if I watch Kung Fu Panda and then watch them fight, I can find similarities.”

He almost cackled at that. He couldn't help it.

“Now that you mentioned, I agree with you.” He shook his head. He would have to tell that to Edwin and Rickenberger. “I'm Alex, by the way, but everyone calls me Big Red.”

“That implies the existence of a 'Little Red' that I'm hoping it's not your dick,” She chuckled.

“My brother, actually,” He laughed as well, “And if it makes you feel better, I don't know any guys that name their dicks.”

“How fortunate”

He had just met a girl, and they made dick jokes. He met a bewitching girl not even five minutes ago, and they already made dick jokes to one another.

He needed her to be in Cobra Kai, or at school, or anywhere, really. He needed her in their circle. He's not sure he would be able to not be around this girl anymore.

“I'm Tory,” She offered her hand, and he shook it.

“Like the girl in 'Victorious'?”

“Yep,” She shrugged, “With a Y though.”

“Nice to meet you… Vicky with a Y,” She laughed at that, and he felt pretty proud of himself.

“Nice one, I’ll give you that,” She shook her head, “No one calls me Victoria though.”

“Great, I like exclusivity,” He laughed, and so did she.

“How come I have never seen you before?” He let it slip out loud. And she blinked, surprised but chuckling at it.

“I’m new in town,” She clarified, “Moved in a few weeks ago.”

He hadn't realized they had walked away from the candy apple stall. And now both were a bit to the side. His friends were probably looking for him. He wasn’t exactly worried about that right now. All he knew was that he wanted more excuses to keep talking to her.

“You're going to stay longer? At the festival, I mean.”

“No, I have to go home. I came for this,” She nodded to the candy apple, “And getting fancy chocolates for my brother.”

“Bummer,” He thought. He was sure Edwin and Rickenberger would love her.

“So did my bad nicknames and dick jokes convince you to join Cobra Kai?” He teased

“Hm… I'll certainly think about it,” She smiled, “But congratulations on making me not like the slow ones.”

How come she's getting more and more beautiful by the second? Bewitching, charming, witty, and not a fan of Miyagi Do. She is perfect.

“Guess I'll see you around… Alex.”

“I sure hope so, Vicky.”

She smiled one last time before nodding and walking away.

He stood there for a minute at least. Processing all of that.

The most beautiful girl he had ever seen was considering joining the Dojo. And apparently, she had the same weird sense of humour he had. And she already disliked Miyagi Do.

She was more than perfect.

When he finally got back to his friends, he was still in a daze of some sort. But it didn’t last as he immediately started rambling to them about that girl he had just met.

“She’s like… I don’t know, she’s gorgeous, and witty, and she does kickboxing, and she didn’t like them, and she even made a dick joke.” He counted on his fingers, “It was like I had known her for ages.”

“You sure you didn’t hallucinate?” Rickenberger laughed, “She seems too perfect, dude.”

“I didn’t hallucinate her” He defended

“Still, what makes you think she’ll actually show up in the dojo?” Edwin put his arm around his shoulders while they walked to Ricken’s car “I mean, you said she does kickboxing.”

“And?” He shrugged, “Far as I know, no place here has kickboxing.”

“So we get the 'marvelous' hallucination girl because we’re her last option,” Rickenberger laughed, “Nice.”

“SHE’S NOT A HALLUCINATION”

“Sure not,” Edwin added, also laughing.

But sure, they had to listen to Red’s thirty minutes of yapping, laughing mischievously, and saying, “I told you she was real,” when Tory appeared at the dojo the next week.
