Chapter 1: World explorer

Chapter Text

This world is big.

Big and so beautiful.

The sky would bestow a beautiful starred sky, shining and blessing your eyes with the image of the purest form of nature. Untouched by man, uncontrollable.

The animals you've herded and even killed for food were all part of it, and you were grateful for every single one of them, for knowing and feeding from them.

You could testify for the beauty of it, it's nature, the flowers you've witnessed, the caves you mined, heck, even the biomes explored, especially the biomes.

Everything had added a shine to your eye and a flavor to your soul, you couldn't get enough of it.

Although...

What good is this beauty if it's not shared?

I mean, you think you're lucky enough to have gotten into a world so magnificent.

But it's bound to get pretty lonely if all you do day after day is explore alone.

You want to be able to share the witness you bear of this wonderful, beautiful world and its laws.

Even then, you don't. You can't.

I mean, the villagers? Sure, they can be friendly, but they can get quite greedy and aren't exactly the fearless type to go exploring with you.

The pillagers? Shoots even at the thought of you being in their territory.

And you're not exactly the type to take your dog out of the safety of your house just to have some company.

In the end... You have to go day after day alone.

That's all you've grown used to.

The routine was something you tried to vary, but you catch yourself falling back to the same boring ritual of every day.

Alone, you can predict yourself, recognize yourself, you know what to wait for.

It'd be different if you had a second opinion, something that maybe would break the cycle that runs within you.

But as another morning rises, your under the sun, exploring for the same mineral you failed to get, again.

It's miserable, really, how you get all this miraculous world to yourself, just to turn out the thing that mummified you is the lack of company, creating a mindset that only a soulless creature could bear.

How different are you from a corpse?

As if fate attempted to scratch this inner itching, you actually end up finding another village in the distance, not really fitting what you desire.

You could use some trading

So you decided to go to the village, head held high and smile tight as if the weight on your chest isn't being deducted from your steps.

Upon getting closer and closer to the village, you can hear at some point the same old banter and noises a village makes, you've grown used to that sound and its volume.

Entering feels like getting into the atmosphere of a whole new world, your feet digging on the ground as the warm lights of the houses greeted and irradiated your cold body.

You could feel a pang of jealousy hit you in your chest as you looked around and seen all the villagers conversing, laughing and even hugging each other as they basked in one another's companionship.

Lucky bastards

It's all you can think before burying the thought with a tensed smile and slightly widened eyes that were going dry from holding back a twitch.

Holding whatever's left of your civilized self, you go deeper into the village with the goal of getting at least one enchantment before completely losing your mind.

.

.

.

The trading was...

Disappointing.

Half of the villagers you talked with had offered absurd prices for pathetic products.

And the enchantments? Only a goal you could dream to achieve.

The ones that were offered were either something useless or you couldn't afford, it's ridiculous, really.

So now you're going back to your house empty-handed, twice as tired and stressed out.

You just wanted your bed at this point.

Through the walk you have every night to get to your home, you come across a cherry blossom biome, the one that you remember being amazed at when you first found it.

You swore it was way heavenlier at that time.

And just was you were about to consider sleeping under a tree, you finally spot the pink and white wooden walls you've built with your sweat and inspiration.

Looking at it with a more withered gaze, its quite silly how you made your house look like a mini castle.

But at least you still had some form of whimsy in your life.

Opening the door, you were immediately greeted by the heavy paws and happy barks of your furred and only friend.

The last thing that still can force a smile from you even after... well, everything.

"Hey! Settle down, silly" the words left unheard by your excited pet as he attempted to lick your face as a way of saying "i love you", oblivious of all the exhaustion in your mind and body.

After a short session of licks and pets, you finally get to clear your way inside, stuffing your sword and other items in a nearby chest carelessly.

Allowing a moment to yourself, you catch your breath before finally stretching your body.

pop, pop, pop

Wincing, you feel and hear the satisfying pops from your back as you refresh yourself with a soul cleansing stretch, letting a pleased grunt remove itself from your chest.

Opening your eyes, you adjust immediately to the darkness of the room, almost automatically sprinting towards the promise of your bed.

Although you can feel yourself stopping before you can even reach the end of it

There, at the top of it there's a...

Cardboard box?

Observing it, you take more than a second or two to realize you're not hallucinating from tiredness, there's really an amalgamation of a... Delivery? On top of your bed.

Hesitating, you reach for it, one single finger wobbly from the fear of what's inside.

Whoosh

Feeling a gust of wind, you instinctively close your eyes, trying to protect yourself, but end up tripping and losing balance of your feet, falling on your butt.

Recomposing yourself, you look up, baffled and unexpectedly the box started flying as it opened itself unceremoniously, popping out of existence.

A flash of yellow fell and bounced on your bed, you swore you could hear a voice.

Coming to your senses, you find yourself stuck on the ground longer than you realize and decide to get up and take a peek of what could've ended inside your house. Thoughts scrambling for a prediction.

God, it could be something harmful, like a mob spawner or maybe some curse a witch put in there? Shit im so screwed-

...

Is that a smiling face?
