Skin of Evil from Deanna’s perspective

Summary:

I rewrote parts of the episode Skin of Evil from Deanna Troi’s point of view. Just because I thought it would be interesting to see how the events of the episode would affect her.

Notes:

I thought Deanna’s perspective would be interesting due to her powers to sense strong emotions. I really hate Tasha’s death because she was my favorite character and I feel like her character and backstory had so much potential. Her death just seems so pointless, it makes me mad. I want a punching bag that looks like Armus (the thing that killed Tasha).

So, some how I completely forgot to write about how Geordi and Worf were feeling at the funeral, but when I finally noticed I had already finished writing and couldn’t figure out how to write them in. Sorry.

This is my first fanfic on here!

Anyway I hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

I feel her slip away. There are only 2 minds now, the minds of Will Riker and Beverly Crusher. Where Tasha's mind was is now an empty dark void. Then Will and Beverly are gone to, but their not gone in the same way their minds are still there—I just can't reach them because they are to far away, they've beamed back up to the Enterprise. I only hope that Dr. Crusher can bring Tasha back.

“Were you able to save Tasha?” I ask, scared to hear the answer.

“No.”

A sob escapes my throat.

I am drowning in my own emotions and those of the crew. Beverly is becoming more closed off, guilt surrounding her like a cape. And Tasha is gone.

I lost Tasha, I feel like I’m losing Beverly, and I think I might be losing myself too.

Who do you turn to for help, when you’re the one who’s supposed to help everyone else? When everyone else is just as distraught as you are?

Tasha’s death was hard on the whole crew, sure, but it was especially hard on Deanna. She not only had to deal with her own emotions, could sense everybody else’s too. All the grief and sadness and fury, fury that, that despicable horrible monster would dare to kill their crewmate, their friend Tasha. These emotions surrounded her in a cocoon, worming their way into her heart and mind. She could feel Beverly’s guilt, guilt she was trying very hard not to show, guilt for not being able to save Tasha. She could feel Wesely’s sadness, it was not exactly grief but a longing, a longing that he could have gotten to know her better before her untimely demise. Will, shock, and guilt. He thought it was his fault because he was leading the away team. Of Corse she could not sense Data’s emotion for he was an android, but he wore a sad puzzled look. And Captain Picard, he was the most devastated of all, but he was doing the best out of all of them at not showing it and keeping a straight face. He kept that straight face all the way through the service even as he solemnly said, “Au revoir, Natasha.”
Leaning on Will Riker’s shoulder as they exited the holodeck so that she wouldn’t collapse to the ground from the weight of all the emotion. Slowly they made their way back to Deanna’s quarters where she bayed Will good night and quietly shut and locked the door. She had lost her best friend; the one person she thought was undefeatable was gone. Tasha who had died trying to save her. Trying to get to her. Deanna lay down on the bed and letting all the emotions she had been suppressing pour out of her, she cried herself to sleep.
